[MOD] Age of Discovery II

Hi Herr Doktor! :)

A lot of the AI coding that I'd put in place in 1.07 I had to strip out for 1.08. This was due to the patch upgrade from Firaxis. Some of my AI code is in the patch and I didn't want to cause conflicts. However, version 1.09 put most of that AI code back in, and 1.10 (due in the next few days) goes further and enhances the AI a lot more again. So I would recommend forgetting 1.08. :)

Well I'm gald to hear about v1.10. Nice job you've done this mod it's the only way this "raw" Colonization can be played (at least for me :D).

Anyway, if I can suggest you something: you really should implement "abandon colony" mod. In fact I use my military power to "raid" enemy colonies and bring captured colonist into my cities. The only problem is you can't abandon a level 1 city.

Version 1.10 released! :D

See first post for details.

Bummer. :( Tough luck mate, tough luck.

Hi, Dale! :)

The mod is getting bigger and bigger. Dont you plan some sort of a patch?

I would've, but in all the stuff that happened in the last month I had to move the files from one host to another. Plus, it's good just to start with a fresh file every now and again so everyone can ensure they're on the same sheet. :)

But now that I'm hosting the files at WPC I'll be able to issue patchs as well as the full file. ;)

Dale, did you solve the problem with AI colonies not expanding much past the 1500's?

The AI expands their colonies a lot better in this version. Both outwards and upwards!

Downloaded and just started playing. One question came up: Is there an option to play a random game without Russians, Aussies and Chinese? I love Protugese and Pirates beeing in, but I dont like having these 3 in my games. Anything that is more easy to handle then choosing manually each Civ for all the players?

You could go into Civ4CivilizationInfos.xml and set those civs to 0 (zero) for human and AI playable settings. :)

Hi. I got to a certain year (AD 1639) and now when I hit "End Turn" the game crashes. I've loaded the saved game many times and it happens every time.

Some info: I have Vista; I have the latest patch; this had happened before, but I didn't jot down the year the first time. Prob. not relevant: I'm playing the Chinese, with 4 other European powers and many Natives; Quick and Explorer; South America map.

Is this a known phenomenon? Or should I check to see if the problem lies with my computer?

Thank you in advance for any help.

On some scenarios (?; not sure that it's by scenario that it varies...), when a ship is leaving the Europe dock, I get a choice as to what town of mine it should head to--a very useful thing. How do I make it so that this always shows up (i.e., in all maps/scenarios)

Similarly, as it leaves Europe, sometimes (in some scenarios?) a ship returns to the exact water tile from which it sailed for Europe originally. I like this, as some of my towns might be very distant from each other, and having all ships pop up at the same spot near the starting location (?) is very annoying. How do I make it so that ships always reappear (coming back from Europe) on the same tile from which they sailed to Europe?

Hey,

So I installed the MOD on my dad's computer and for some reason whenever any screen comes up that will allow me to talk with natives or the King or whomever, there is nothing there. It's just blank. I'm sure he has the Firaxis patch. Anyone else run into this issue?

I just installed the mod and every time it starts loading, it crashes the game. It doesn't happen with other mods or with the vanilla game, just this mod. I've tried downloading it twice with no luck. Is there something else I can try?

Thanks,
Tom

I installed the Firaxis patch. Downloaded your Mod. Version 1.10. Put it the Mod folder that I have been running 1.09. But it won't run correctly. I tried a clean install. Removing all the old stuff. But I don't show Pirate option or any of the civs. I am at a loss.

This mod is amazing... This is what the retail game should have been. Well done!!!

I am totally addicted to Colonization again thanks to your mod, and I apologize in advance for the angry phone call from my wife :)

butler77, sorry if this is too basic a suggestion (a la "Is the appliance plugged into the wall?") but just to make sure:

Did you go to Advanced Options and choose Load a Mod, which then restarts the game? [nevermind: I went back and read your old posts and it's clear you're aware of this; my apologies]

(Also: Is it simply by discovering both oceans that the town list pops up at the Europe dock?)

(And I've started to think that I made up that whole "ship returns to the exact ocean tile from which it sailed to Europe" thing; it hasn't happened again.)
