Mod error

such an error would usually indicate a problem with c++ - with a m0d my hunch would be that its just a bad download/bad mod version - if its the core game its a bit more tricky - could you please open the civilizationIV.ini and set all items with log in their name from 0 to 1 then start and crash the game and post all items in my games\beyond the sword\logs as a zip file here?
also as for dxdiag: click start, click search, type dxdiag, hit enter, click save results, post the results as a file attachment to a post :)

Hi all!

I'm getting the same error (the runtime error) when ever i try to start a game. When i try to start the game, it comes to initalizig (or something like that) and then unit graphics (i'm not sure, i just know it's something about graphics, but i thik it's unit) and then i get the runtime error and the game crashes.

First i fought it was the map scripts that are suppost to be fixed with 2.53 patch (included in extra civs patch 1.4). But the game still doesn't work.

I have BtS 3.17, Rom 2.53 and extra civs pack 1.4.

Can anyone help me?

JanK

...Sorry but I'm not good at computer things. So could you tell me what you want me to do?

Its the extra civ pack... try without it... or try deleting some of the extra civs.

How good is your system btw?

@NotSoGood:
in
my documents
there is a folder called
my games
in that there are various folders with the name of various games go into the one for beyond the sword
there is a file called civilizationIV.ini open that - and search for all items that have log in their name (its the last 5 except the very last one) and change all of their numbers from 0 to 1 - so that it looks like this:

; Enable the logging system
LoggingEnabled = 1

; Enable synchronization logging
SynchLog = 1

; Overwrite old network and message logs
OverwriteLogs = 1

; Enable rand event logging
RandLog = 1

; Enable message logging
MessageLog = 1

; Break on memory allocation order #
BreakOnAlloc = -1

then start and crash the game

then go to that same folder - in it is the logs folder you should create a zip archive with the whole logs folder - and attach it to a post here :)

I tried almost all mods I have (and the main game) and they all worked PERFECKLY. But when I tried my own mod, game crashes. And after that every mod and game doesn't work. Should I delete my mod?

Ok, patching didn't work, so I removed all of the extra civs in the Asset folder of the mod, and now it works for some reason.

EDIT: I was wrong, it does not work properly, for some reason, hosting a custom scenario on the "Mars" scenario works, but Custom game is completely broken.

@NotSoGood:
these logs are incomplete - you did likely not set all items with log in their name to 1

@Veon:
try the below to get this game sorted out (if its just the mod - this might not work, but maybe it does). Make sure to install with admin rights, in Vista this means to right click on all installers and choose run as administrator, just using an admin account does not cut it in Vista.

install the most recent version of DirectX 9c from Microsoft

then do the following for a clean reinstall:

Uninstall and Reinstall Civ4 Warlords BtS :

Try to follow this order when doing stuff:
Use Control panel to uninstall Beyond the Sword, then Warlords, then Civ4
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\beyond the sword" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\beyond the sword" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application data\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application data\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application data\my games\beyond the sword" manually
(note: application data is a hidden directory so you need to configure windows explorer to show hidden files, also these directories in application data are sometimes removed by the uninstall routine)
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8}" (Civ4)
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{3E4B349F-10B5-4586-9D99-489A90A8B228}" (Warlords)
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{32E4F0D2-C135-475E-A841-1D59A0D22989}" (BtS)
(note: InstallShield Installation Information is a hidden directory so you need to configure windows explorer to show hidden files).
Install Civ4, immediately patch it to 1.61 (download it fresh from here)
Install Warlords, immediately patch it to 2.08 (download it fresh from here)
Install Beyond the Sword, immediately patch to 3.17 (download it fresh from here).

For what it's worth, here's my DxDiag.txt and error logs, from the MegaPack 2.51, patched to 2.52. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 4530 with Windows Vista Home Premium, 2GB of memory and a GeForce 9100M G. From what's been said, their error is my error (somewhat resolved by reducing graphics to their absolute minimum and playing a duel map). The error that I coughed up this time, I had graphics at high, a large map using the RoM_Big and Small script playing as Washington of America. Much not to my surprise, runtime error at Init Graphics. Without further ado, files:

Seems like somehow I can't change them to 1. First I do it then start the game crash it and see civilizationIV.ini-file and it's like it was before I changed it.

EDIT: Or did you mean that I have to do the changes to civilizationIV.ini-file not civilizationIV.ini.bak-file?
