Are there rules about building barrows? Can anyone build one? Because I saw that when you get Necromancy it says that you can build barrows but the pedia doesn't say who can build it or where...

They are only buildable by Clan of Embers Witch Doctors and Shamans.

Can Clan of Embers build ruins too, or just the barrows?

Just Barrows for now.

Can you play FFH2 v16a in Hotseat Multiplayer format? Has it been tested? Is it quite stable in this format? Sorry if this question has been asked already but my brother and I play hotseat all of the time and would like to start a game using your MOD.

Also, it looks to me that the Blue Marble Terrain mod is loaded within FFH2. Is this correct? Is there a way to go back to the vanilla looking terrian? The only reason I ask is that it may help in my overall gameplay performance. I know my somewhat lowgrade system always ran better without Blue Marble loaded. I prefer the look of the Blue Marble, but I'm willing to sacrifice the look when compared to better/smoother gameplay.

Any info/feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time!

FFH2 = Best MOD Ever!!! :king: :goodjob:

Hotseat should work just fine (as does simotaneous play).

There is no easy way to not use Blue marble terrain, sorry.

Kael, thanks so much for your quick reply. It is amazing how you stay so on top of things.

- We will be playing an FFH2 hotseat game tonight for sure.

- No biggy about the Blue Marble. Like I said, it looks so much better anyways. In my singleplayer game I am in year 209 with no lag at all yet. I'm just worried about lag as the game progresses. Of course I didn't need to do a Huge, continent map huh? I just love playing on bigger maps that make the game last longer. We shall see.......

That is correct, that seemed a little to exploitable to me.

Yes, I agree! It's already pretty powerful - I use captured animals (especially those invisible spiders :D ) to destroy my 'friends' workers already, dto. Pirates for their ships. Haven't built a Mercenary yet, they're just too expensive and they are no stronger than a captured Spider or Bear.

One thing I noticed: can the Ljosalfar BUILD Tigers? They're sending a steady stream of Tigers past my borders to attack the Red Dragon.. and I just park a couple of Rangers there who pick them off every turn. So now I've got Tigers coming out the ears...:D

I have been playing FfH2 12-16 hours a week since March in Hotseat mode. It is extremely stable and only has one bug. Your tech tree screen will merge with whoever else is in hotseat mode. Makes using the Tech screen to choose your Techs a real mess. It is a FfH2 bug only, It does not happen in Vanilla Civ.

Not to my recollection, but they can summon them with Nature magic, unless my memory is completely skewed. Granted, I don't play them much, but that's what my memory tells me anyway. And yeah, I know they usually have oodles of dem little fuzzballs.

Cheers!

Wow, that is a pretty big bug. I can't even imagine trying to play a hotseat game with this bug. Because the tech tree is so huge in FFH2, that has really got to be hard to work with.

By chance, is this issue being addressed? I may hold off on using hotseat in FFH2 (as a tear falls to the keyboard).

Yeah i've got that problem too, usually if you sort of click around it will fix it'self.

Kael,

Idont know if you've seen this already but have you thought of making hero "rivals"? The heros whose flavor text mentions hating other heros would get a bonus vs them, ie Gilden gets bonus vs the baron, kithra against hemah ( I think) etc.

I'm not sure that would work really well with ships, but then I don't think most pirate vessels did much effective pirating of military ships. It was mostly attacking merchants and such, right? Maybe the pirate ships aren't very powerful, where their strength would lie between classes of military ships. They could defeat obsolete ships, but would be beaten by the current tech military??

In reality, all of what you say is probably true.. But take into account duly that this is fantasy we're talking about. We have a whole ~nation~ worth of pirates here, so you expect them to be pretty adept at what they do. And again, it's fantasy, having swashbuckling buccaneers or bloodthirsty pirates challenging the naval might of civilized nations navies is the stuff of legends, ergo, it fits into fantasy even if it might have been unlikely in real history.

And since there are no merchant vessels to harass, making them too weak to fight "real" ships would just make them useless, and by extension, the Lanun would be (even more) pointless to play. Which I don't think is a good move.

Cheers!

Is there a way to return to Hidden Nationality after you have declared your nationality?

I would like to know this too. I've assumed it's not the case, from finicking around with the civpedia and whatnot. And I guess it would make sense too, once Captain Whatshisface has admitted that he serves the [civilization] it's doubtful that the world leaders would suddenly believe he's not acting on their behalf when later they find him sinking their vessels.

But it makes it a bit less tempting to use it, not least of all for like.. The Black Wind and whatnot. It becomes fairly useless (or at least a lot less versatile) once it's not Hidden Nationality any more, but so long as it is you can never be "safe" in that it won't be attacked. Possibly could make it possible to switch in X number of turns? I dunno.

Cheers!

Perhaps to add to the versatility and uniqueness of the Black Wind, it alone can recover its hidden nationality once it is forsaken? How about a unique spell usable only in a pirate cove? (Thus adding another stategic purpose to pirate coves placed far around the world.)
It's not like you don't really know that the black wind is Lanun anyway.

No, more of a game design concern than a practical one. If this wasnt the case you could attack other civs you weren't at war with until you were almost dead. Then declare nationality, heal up, hide nationality and continue attacking. You could also use it to travel through open border agreemetns civs until you get to the place you want to be, then hide nationality and attack them.

We dont want to make any of those options available.

Each hero in FfH1 (so all except the civ heroes) were origionally designed with a quest in mind. Accomplishing the quest would allow the hero to upgrade to to a advanced form. Thats why so many of the religion/generic heroes pedia entries allude to certain enemies or tasks.

Quests are scheduled to be incorporated in the "Shadow" phase, so hopefully we will do more with it at that point.
