[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

Hello Mesix,

When I tried to do that it threw a major wobbly and the mod wouldn't start up.

Maybe I was doing something wrong. When I open the XML in notepad I can edit the values, save and close, but FFH will crash at start up.

Kinjiru,

How do you edit this file? I can open the file but I don't seem to be able to change anything. I can select the text but I can't change it.

Thanks,

Breunor

I had the same problem at first: use the context menu on the file (right mouse button) and don't 'Open' it, 'Edit' it. If you just 'open', you won't be able to make changes.

Dragons are more then just animals, they are sentient beings in most myth and the fantasy genre and in FFH lore they are worshipped as gods. If Archeron is enslaved he should hold a great hatred for his captors with a high rate of escaping and a single mindedness for wreaking havoc on his captors and retaking the horde, forcing you to keep a tight reign on him. Perhaps requiring a unit of a certain level of exp in the same tile as him or perhaps an attached unit or some such to make sure he is kept in line? That way you could get an extremely powerful unit but there is a "cost" attached. Or perhaps it would be better to have Archeron simply die?
Maybe he could be a building that produces dragon eggs which your mages can transform with magic in to Draconic warriors or provide health or...? heh...

Hmm... how about always having him follow the hoard if captured? That way you can choose to have the dragon roaming but not getting the benifits of the hoard or having the benifits of the hoard and a powerfull guardian creature? (just my thoughts on the issue)

Having a blast with this MOD. It's also having a blast, blasting me. Looks like I need to practice a lil.

Anyway, in the game I'm currently playing, I have a lone Caravel exploring the map. Sometimes as he passes through enemy territory, they send Privateers to kill it. Whenever it dies, the game crashes. Anyone else experienced this? It could be just that one game, I'll have to see later.

I really HATE being a royal in the *ss, but I'm submitting another save of a game... PLEASE let me know if these are doing you ANY good since I don't want to be providing copies of games if they do nothing.

I was playing a game with the Illians (patch "g", Fractal world, standard leader) when I reached a point where I could NOT get past the "Send error report" message. I really don't believe this is a performance issue since I tried rebooting and still got the error message -- I was only on turn 446.

This is the second game that this has happened (I submitted that game at an EARLIER point than when I was ultimately completely blocked) and it is extremely frustrating to get that far, then not to be able to finish. If this keeps happening, I'm going to have to stop playing FfH as much as I enjoy it (had a relatively good game going...). If I need to play on a smaller map (I play huge) or pick a different number of civs, let me know.

Again, PLEASE let me know if these are doing you any good since I don't want to waste your time or mine.

I believe that one of the new events in patch "g" has a "slight" problem... I was TWICE given the opportunity to set up a forge in my city and, with a little gold (10), add one extra hammer to it. I took the second option eagerly, anticipating a much needed boost in production. Obviously the second time it came up I was a little curious -- why did I need a second forge in the city.

When I examined the city, guess what? There was NO forge. I'm guessing that's because (given the stage of the game -- only around turn 60) I didn't have the "smelting" technology yet.

Never mind... I'm an idiot!!! The second option gives an additional hammer to an existing forge. My apologies for being dense.

Being Luchrip, having mithril, the technology of mithril weapons and can't make the mithril golem in the holy city of runes... :( any advice?

The Armageddon Counter has to be at least 70.

Hi, a question about the mod. Is it compatible with Civilization 4 complete? Because when I try to install it it says that Beyond the sword is not found. However the complete version comes with Beyond the sword, the vanilla game and two expansions are all installed in one install though, maybe this could be the problem...
Is it possible for me to play this mod?

Try loading your game normally (without the mod). If it doesn't say "Beyond the Sword", then it would seem you haven't installed the game right for some reason. Also make sure you download the 3.13 update for BtS before messing with FfH. Good luck!

My wife & I love this mod, we play it together over our lan connection. Unfortunately last week my comp decided to die on me. I got my new parts & did a complete format with xp reinstall, updated all the win updates, installed all of my civ 4, war & bts no prob. installed ffh2 & works fine over lan. then I downloaded the media pack for both of our computers & now neither computer will see the others game in the lan lobby(lan works fine w/o ffh2 loaded) so I removed ffh2 mod directory from both systems, & reinstalled, this time downloaded patch G, same result no lan. so I have just removed ffh2 again & installed juts the mod, no media pack or patch & the lan works fine. any ideas?

I believe this happens because civ4 complete installs to a different directory than civ4 vanilla/warlords/BtS does. Check the installation location prompted when you run the FfH installer and make sure it matches the installation directory for your Civ4 install.

OK I can do that, but to download the installer, i have to use a program "GameFlood". I can choose between "Play now" or "Install files". Whichever I choose, it wont start because BtS doesn't appear to be on my system, it doen't even prompt a directory. Can I get the installer any other way that GameFlood?

That issue is discussed and resolved here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=259972

Can we have this unit in? Can we, please? Pleeeaseee?
;)

First off, I really appreciate the event that permits you to purchase animals. Since patch "g" I've built the Grand Menagerie TWICE!!! Thanks for the fine work!!

Second off, a couple of questions...

1. Were the Margalard and Gurid units removed from the game? Before patch "g" there wasn't a game that went by without seeing at least one of these units. Since then I've (almost) played three games and neither has appeared. Alternatively, were they perhaps linked to the Armegeddon Counter?

2. There may not be a good answer for this, but I'll ask it anyway... I typically win via the Tower of Mastery (not terribly tough to do when you play on a huge map with only a few opponents!!). In many cases I have defensive pacts with more than one civ. In preparing for the inevitabl war that results when you schedule the Tower, I typically move my armies to my opponents borders (to take quick advantage of my strength and the fact that THEY are declaring war!!). However, where I have defense agreements with more than one civ, inevitably only one of them declares war while the other immediately drops the defense agreement but DOES declare war on the other civs. This leaves one or two of my armies completely out of position. My question (and again, perhaps, unanswerable) is whether or not there is any way to foresee WHICH civ will declare war and which will side with me?

Thanks!! And my congratulations on a fantastic patch ("g")!!

So there's a bug with the Lanun Harbor - sorry if this has been mentioned already, but it's pretty much near impossible to surf through 337 pages in this thread. [Sidenote suggestion: Why don't you start a NEW bug thread for each patch you make? That way you get more efficiency and less repetition]

The bug with the Lanun Harbor: You can't build boarding parties, because boarding parties require Harbors and the Lanun Harbor is apparently not a harbor. Which pretty much sucks if you're the Lanun. And yes, I had the proper tech for boarding parties.
