[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

I added a link in the first post to a download for Blue Marble for FfH2. If you download and apply that update you will be switched from the Fantasy Terrain of FfH2 to ColdFever excellent Blue Marble terrain.

Personally I prefer the Fantasy terrain that comes with the mod. But Blue Marble is a lot lighter and makes it easier to see the units so some players prefer it.

Hey Kael, is it really necessary to have the Media Pack create a link to Fall from Heaven on the desktop? Seriously, odds are if people want the link, they'll get it from the main install and keep it around. Meanwhile, people who use Steam like me will find themselves deleting the link twice since the link is about as useful to them as tap shoes on a pig.

Of course, I downloaded my media pack when FfH2 was released (also unofficially known as 0.40), so if you've already changed that, then just ignore what I've said. I'll redownload it sometime later if that's the case.

If I rebuild the media pack I'll remove that.

Is there a reason multi-player setup options aren't saved for me between game instances? I could have sworn that the game would remember "options" the same way the it would remember map "settings", but it seems like a few versions back it stopped remembering.

I just wanted to check if I could preset the options I play with in a config or something, or find out if there is something I could do to get the game to remember my game options.

Thanks

I updated the link in the first post to a good location. When you have a chance you should upgrade to BtS, we have a ton of new features in the BtS version of FfH2.

Thanks Kael ! Soon I shall be re-addicted, lol.

Best, mod, ever.

I just installed Civ 4 Complete and FFH 2 41 plus media pack without a hitch but I can't get the 41a patch to recognize the installation ("Setup cannot find an existing version of Fall from Heaven 0.41 . ..." error).
I tried running the patch file to from various folder within Civ 4 without success.

Am I doing something wrong?

hey guys i got a problem that i cant figure out.. every time i save a game and then later try and load it .. the game stops working ..any ideas?
ty

I wanted to drop in for the latest patch and use the opportunity to say "hi" and thanks to Kael for the great mod :)

(Playing it since two years....)

What exactly does Hastur's Razor do?

Description Reads: "Randomly distributes damage between all units in range"

Seems to affect my units as well. Is that by design? How much damage does it do?

Thanks

I've been wondering that too.

I've had OO as my state religion several times, and consequently built Hemah, but I've never cast the spell. What damage does it mean? What determines how much damage is distributed?

BTW, I love this mod more than life itself... not really, but it's the best thing that's ever happened to Civ 4.

I'd say it's working very much by design, if it's damaging both you and your enemies.

It's random, that's the key word in that sentence. This means it's untargeted, and we all know what untargeted weapons do...

It's probably a good spell to cast when most of your forces are out of its range, but can easily engage whatever units have been damaged by the spell.

My suspicion is that it is installed in the worng directory. Can you post where it is saved?

Usually it is in the Bts 'Mods' Directory.

hey

i been playin FFH for some time (till about 6 months back was playin vanilla civ versions, i actually have never played BTS once, i got it for FFH ^^)
really love the mod and the amount of effort the FFH team put into the mod.
but i do have one request/complaint
i love playing as the Hippus / Sheaim empires and usually go for any of the evil religions (usually OO for their Tower of complimency and Stygian Guards) but there is one major issue i have with the CoE religion... it doesnt have its own priests... so i cannot heal my units or cure them of diseases and plagues at all so even if either CoE's Nightwatches or their shadowriders was given the ability or even if a priest of esus was added id really appreciate it... otherwise i have to adopt OO or AV and build a bunch of priests and then convert to CoE which is a inconveniece at best

but thanks again ur work is epic and BTS should be renamed FFH ;)

CoE has a lot of advantages. Remember, you can switch to it later in the game; that is, you can build priests with other religions, and then switch to CoE later if you want the advantages of it. Your existing priests will stay and help with healing. Its usually good to have a few of these priests around (as you noted!)

Thanks Breunor for checking!

Civ 4 complete installs to the following directory:
C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete

I was able to install FFH and the media pack because it prompted me with an install path. The "a" patch does not prompt you with a path.

I'm probably not the right guy for this, but I think FfH usually installs in a directory called 'Mods'. For most of us, under Firaxis, there is a separate folder for BtS; since you have the complete edition, there probably isn't a seperate BtS folder. Anyway, I'd be surprised if there isn't a 'Mods' folder under the 'Sid Meier's Civilization Complete' folder; for us, we use the Mods folder under the BtS folder. You should check to see if the Mods that come with regular Civ are there (in a Mods folder under Sid Meier's Civilization Complete) like Age of Ice. (And if you haven't, play Age of Ice!!)

If so, and you still have the problem that you can't get the patch to install, I would recommend setting up FfH under the Mods folder also. I'm pretty sure this is where the patch is 'looking'. Moreover, FfH will be listed as a Mod if you start from the Civ menu and add 'Play a mod'.

But I'm reeally not real good with this stuff, so maybe someone else can give better advice; I haven't used Civ IV complete.

Best wishes,
