[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

I have to think that lowering the cost of Infernal Pact is a good move, because in all of my recent games the Infernals (to speak nothing of the Mercurians) come into the game at such a late'ish stage that they have nearly no impact at all. Perhaps I have myself to blame because I like to play with lots of AI's (more conflict, wee!), but there's seldom much free room for them to spawn in so they tend to clump down in some really crappy spot and then just sit around there until somebody wipes them out. So giving them a chance to appear sooner is good, methinks. They are a very fascinating part of the game after all! :goodjob:

Surprising that you would post that considering what I am posting now. I seem to have found a bug. My brother and I were playing each other on map size 'Huge' with 14 AI players. I researched Infernal Pact but when I finished, Hyborem was spawned with no city as it seems that the game couldn't find a spot to place it. This was not that late in the game, as a matter of fact I had, one could say, rushed to Infernal Pact.

Added patch "f" to the first post. It resolves the following issues:

1. Fixed the sethaspromotion python exception if the ljosalfar ar in the game.
2. Fixed the Luchuirp mistype in the function that grants dwarven promotions.
3. Switched the rush infernal pact logic to check for other players that have it instead of looking for infernal players.

It won't break save games.

Not sure if it's the patch but Hypoborem landed early....in the middle of the map. I opened Mercury gate....they fiddled around while I burnt 40 plus units to whittle 'his lordship' down only for.... Any suggestions?
(Pray?)

Essentially, your problem is that Basium isn't doing anything, right? Or did I misunderstand that?

Anyway, there are some things you can do. He'll be at war with whomever you are at war with since he's on your team, so if he borders on someone you can always DOW them and he'll go to war with you. If you conquer any cities you can give them to him so he grows. If he's fighting a war you can always give him units if you don't want to personally involve yourself. He starts out kind of weak but if you give him a helping hand he can get to his feet, and then he turns scary. So just make sure you help him out a bit. If indeed you want to bother, nothing forces you to care for your teammate of course. They are just a bunch of silly angels, right?

Cheers!

I think that you should make it so that food doesnt appear when you look at the city screen of hyborem. it would make things much simpler and easier to figure out. Also im not sure if it is possible, but making the hyborem city governor ignore food on tiles would also make things easier to manage.

Are there any other unique units that Basium have besides the angels? Basium need a lot of unique units to the same amount of the Hyborim...

Seraphim, Valkyrie, Angel of Death, Heralds.

Those come to mind right away. Unless you discount them all as 'the angels', in which case I don't think they have any particularly unique units aside from a few with changed appearances. But then again, that'd be like saying Hyborem should have lots of unique units "besides the demons", so I'm assuming that's not what you meant, but rather implied the actual Angel unit. :crazyeye:

Refresh my memory here, by the by.. When a civilization finishes a ritual, that is announced globally, correct?

I'm mostly wondering because I am playing Sheaim in a multiplayer game, and I distinctly recall seeing "[My Name] finished Elegy of the Sheaim!" when I did so. And yet very recently the Armageddon Counter dropped -drastically-, and I can think of no reasonable explanation for it to have done so except possibly several Hallowings of the Elohim having gone off. The Ashen Veil holy city stands, I doubt ~that~ many Ashen Veil cities burned in such short succession, so I'm a bit stumped for ideas. Blight had recently hit so the AC was at 42 or something thereabouts, and then suddenly a handfull of turns later I checked it and it was at 29, oddly enough.

Oh well. Cheerio.

Thanks folks. Donated several cities...which left largely unguarded tempted the unique units away from home...bingo! Still a nasty surprise...thanks Kael ;)
Wonderful effort from you and the team. Heaven knows where you find the time for such a huge undertaking. Really merits a commercial release and the rewards that entails...would be thoroughly deserved. Brilliant.

curious as to why the .ini file has the version number 020 when the game is 021. This won't cause an issue will it? Should I change it to 021?

No, it doesnt cause an issue. I just forgot to change it.

Here is a little prayer from a hugely devoted ffh2 player:

Please tell us wich update is going to be playable only with "Beyond the Sword" and please leave the old vanilla ffh2 download on the page and not remove it so people such as I can play it for a while (even if I get a virus or my harddisk fails or something like that) cause I'm not one of the fastest to go out and buy new expansions... only just got warlords today... (so now I'm ready to play the warhammer-mod once it get a little further in development ;) )

Is there any way to change the difficulty mid-game? I tend to have the problem with Monarch level being too easy, but Emperor level being too difficult. I often have to abandon games where i get too quick of a lead or fall too far behind. Any suggestions?

No. You cannot do that.

What settings do you play with? Certain settings can affect the game's difficulty (Aggressive AI, Tech Trading, Barbarians). You could either choose difficult settings with Monarch or easy settings with Emperor to try to ease the transition. Alternatively, you could just play through those Emperor games even when all seems lost. Maybe beelining to an advanced military tech will allow you to conquer a few extra cities.

on the difficulty thing, You will ALWAYS unless you are a godlike master of civ, fall behind in the beginning on emperor and above, the AI just gets so many handicap bonuses(why cant i have just one worker?) My advice is as lone as you dont get stranded with everyone hating you, stick with it, be opportunistic and youll catch up quickly enough, if monarch is to easy dont play it, it isn't any fun.
