[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

Oh btw I agree with the other dude about the orcs, scorthed earth and barbarian make them too much grief to be fun to play with, change the traits, at least for the woman leader, and then boost the male clan embers leader so they arent such a pain to use :\

The Prophecy of Ragnarok will raise the AC. Maybe Mokka's Cauldron, not sure.

Can I mention that Mokka's Cauldron isn't really much use the way its implemented? All it does it change units killed inside the city into skeletons.

The cauldron is probably going to be built in a big city, and that city is going to have a powerful garrison. If whatever is attacking my city is powerful enough to kill my elite crossbowmen or shield walls, what good is the 3-4 hp skeleton that replaces it?

Could the cauldron be changed so that any unit killed within a 3-4 square radius turns into some kind of usable undead (ie, stronger than a skeleton?) I think the extremely limited area of effect could justify making the effect much more powerful.

The caudron doesn't make skeletons, it makes flesh golems that have the same strength as the dying creature.

Besides, you're using it wrong. Get a sacrificial alter in that city and you will see what I mean.;)

Is it intentional that when I selected 'Creative' as my 'Adaptive' trait for the Kuriotates, it replaced Philosophical?

Something I noticed, I am playing noble atm, calabim, with 18 civs on a huge map. I have founded 2 other cities apartr from my capital alredy, but out of the 7 or so AIs I have met only 1 has founded a second city, is this normal?

Sezereth, i like your concept art for the Elohim... it looks really good. (i like it more than that monk you had a while back :goodjob:)

hehe, thanks ;) the monk will get in, but not in its present form, that was why i hold him back, so i can adopt him to the rest of the elohim. but its general from will stay :)

Good news. I was sitting on 0.22 waiting for one more thing before I wrapped it. Talchas has been working on a new feature that I wanted to get in for testing. He got it all wrapped up and delivered today so the good news is that we will be releasing 0.22 on May 25th (in 6 days!).

The new feature Talchas created for us is the Trophy Hall. Click the link to see the picture. It allows us to award trophies to players who accomplish specifc feats. As you can see from the screenshot we have trophies for winning the game with each of the civs as well as for killing Acheron, Basium, Hyborem and Orthus.

These trophies are stored between games, so if you kill Orthus in one game you will always have that trophy. Its just a nice way for players to see what they have done and makes it a little more interesting to achieve certain goals.

Thats all they do right now, but the real beauty of what Talchas did isn't just in tracking acheivements, its that we can check for these trophies in the game. This isn't that important in "Fire", but as we get into "Shadow" we will begin to have a lot more fun with them. I'll give a few examples:

1. Shadow will introduce equipment. The Clan of Embers has a relic called the Eternal Flame (you knew that wasn't gone forever didnt you), instead of a wonder its an equipment that provides its owner with 1 free fire mana. But the relic has to be earned, players who get the Clan victory trophy will cause the Clan (either AI or human) to start with the Eternal Flame.

2. Shadow will introduce quests. Some of these could take place over several games with players accomplishing one part in one game, then having the opportunity to finish the next stage in another game, etc etc. Each stage would be marked as a trophy and since we are able to tell how much has been accomplished in preceeding games we can allow the quest to be dynamic.

As fun as the Trophy Hall will be in "Shadow" we couldnt even create the "Ice" phase without it (the requirement for the Trophy Hall came from the "Ice" phase). Im not going to go to much into that right now, but its going to be very cool.

The trophy hall is coded entirely in python and very easy to implement and track from a modders perspective. The trophies are simply stored in text format in a file and we won't be making any attempt to safeguard or check for "cheating". If you want to give yourself all the trophies, or unlock the content without playing through the games you are more than welcome to.

Friday you guys will be able to check it out yourself. But I think its going to be an amazing feature once we get it fully implemented (lots more trophies to come) and Talchas really did an incredible job putting it together.

As you can see in the screenshot I have already earned the Defeated Orthus and Hippus Victory tropies.

I was just about to post a savegame for 0.21 regarding a memory leak issue (>5 mins to process a new turn atfrom around turn 300 onwards) that is making the game unplayable, but I guess you'll be opening up a new bug thread for 0.22?
Will 0.22 address this memory issue that I notice many people have reported for 0.21?

I dont know, there is a lot of changes in 0.22 that may or may not resolve this. I moved significant portions of code from python into the SDk (that improves game speed, especially the between turn wait).

Most memory leaks usually cause hangs or crashes, not slow performance. You know you have a memory leak if you have 30 second waits between turns. Then shutdown and reboot, reload and if the game is substantially faster than its probably a memory leak. If the game continues to be just as slow then its probably just chugging through a lot of data.

I wrote "Speed mod" a few weeks ago. Basically to test out some theroy's on how to speed up Civ4. Eventually that will be merged into FfH so we can get it as fast as possible.

Kael, any chance that we'll see the NCSaver soon in FfH2?

OMG the trophy hall and what you described is just another so cool thing! It's amazing how you (and I mean the team) comes up with all those extremly fun and creative things!

*go team, go team*
Looking forward to 0.22 since 0.21f ;)
