[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

Haseo, I guess you are downloading using the Gameflood agent, if you wish you can download without the agent, allowing you to select where to place the file

hail to these who gave Civ a new, more adoreable face ;)
the mod is really great work!

unfortuneately, there are still some problems. i guess this is just to expect of a 0.25 release ;) i just can't wait for any 1.x!

<<I USE 0.25 Patch "l" (latest published)>>

at first, i have to agree Grayelder, post #6154.
The Kuriotates don't work properly for me, either. this makes them kind of useless :( without their 3rd City Ring, they are not attractive anymore

2nd:
i have wondered about Werewolves and Giant Spiders.
Giant Spiders never(?) create Baby Spiders anymore. Bug or Feature? ;) i liked them
Baron Duin Halfmorn created one(!) werewolve out of ten fights vs living (non animal) units. Bug or Feature? ;)
i have read something about "turning kill effects off" in order to avoid the OOS error in multiplayer. i do not know exactly what this means, but maybe it's related?

3rd:
the OOS Error of Fatal Doom!
we expected serveral errors:
Gamespy 2 players: OOS in early State. Fixes by rejoin of one player
LAN Direct IP 2 Players: works fine. Sometimes OOS. Fixes by rejoin
HAMACHI (vpn) Direct IP 2 Players: works fine so far. Sometimes OOS, fixes by rejoin, too
HAMACHI (vpn) Direct IP 3 Players: some early OOS errors. the host always hast the OOS-Value that does not match to the values of the other players. rejoin fixes THESE EARLY OOS errors. Later in Game (y2xx @ fast), there is a OOS that won't fix with: rejoin (host / the other 2 players), end game and load auto/manual save, empty cache etc. this kind of ends the actual game :/
for the last example, we left out the Calabim as i read they can cause this OOS error. just to say, in games we played with Calabim, the non fixable OOS appeared much earlier. But we did not try this extensively. it's not funny if your game ends like that :(

i don't know what else we should try.

Sprawling won't be implemented until "shadow".

Spiders and Werewolves have a chance to be created on each combat, but it isn't 100%.

I need more specifics on the OOS errors, what is the initiating event (if known, I know its hard to track down sometimes)?

will shadow be the next release?

i can upload savegames if you want me to. i have no idea how to find out what event causes OOS error at my games.

Yeah, "shadow" is the next major version and is scheduled for release on December 16th.

Save games aren't handy with OOS errors since they require multiplayer to have issues, but I appreciate the offer.

OOS errors are notoriously difficult to track down, we ran a batch for a few weeks way back and got some fixed. If they continue to be problematic after shadows release we will probably run another batch of debug to try to work them out.

OOS = Out of sync...

Hope that is explanation enough for you and that a more technical explanation won't be required...
Thanks jselsmark. I can roughly imagine and understand why this has something to do with multiplayer.

it doesn't matter where. Just pick somewhere you can easily find when its done downloading, then run it. You could chose your desktop, my documents, or anything else.

I just finished off a game playing as Perpentach of the Balseraphs and have a couple of questions regarding this civilization:

1. Loki... While he DID cause foreign cities to go into revolt, I was never offerred the opportunity to upgrade him so his available spells were fairly limited. Since he IS a hero, shouldn't he progress through the standard "hero" point upgrades? This would make him a lot more useful...

2. The Freaks (or whatever you call the guys built from the Freak Show). Despite the fact that they get the "Mutation" promotion, I didn't see that they ever mutated into anything. Did I overlook something? Whenever I applied the "Mutation" promotion in the past, my warriors traits definitely changed -- sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse.

Also, on a different topic, my wife was playing a game and had converted a couple of raw mana resources into working nodes (water and fire if I remember correctly). Her capital went into revolt (she wasn't keeping a close eye on their happiness level...). Suddenly her new nodes no longer appeared to be functional -- they showed as "chaos" mana with nodes for water and fire. Was this because her capital went into revolt or is there some other reason for this? I'd like to tell her how to fix this since, once she saw what happened to her nodes, she quit the game out of disgust...

Thanks!!

Loki is handy but doesnt learn more than those starting spells. Thats part of the balance, Loki is a early game powerhouse but doesnt grow up like some of the late game heroes.

Mutation is applioed just when they are created, a wide variety of changes could effect the unit, or none at all. Its random.

If ownership of a tile changes the mana node reverts back to its unimproved state. The reason for this is because if you capture an enemy mana node we want you to have the opportunity to upgrade it to whatever you want (instead of being stuck with whatever the AI decided to upgrade it to). A negative side effect is that it reverts when your wifes city went into revolt (since she lost acess to the mana and then regained it).

This occurs even though the mana node wasn't in the capital's radius (they were both in other cities that were NOT in revolt mode)?

The only thing Im aware of that causes a mana node to revert back is when ownership of its tile changes.

Now that i'm not bound by the rules of the design contest, i have a unit to propose:

Phantom (or other such name)
Barbarian only
Is created randomly somewhere on the world when any extra dimensional spell is used (escape, planar gates, bringing hyborem in, bringing basium in, etc...)

invisible

Effect: when it kills a unit, it gains in strength, and consumes it's Vicitm's soul, not allowing it to be reborne as a mane or angel. over time, it loses the strength it gained from winning, but loses it more slowly as the AC goes up.

i'm sure there are other ways they could come into the world
