[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

You have the "Freeze Animations" graphics option on. That isn't supported in FfH and should be disabled.

I had the exact same issue, can't wait to see the units in their full glory without the shape shifting!! :scan:

The only thing I still want to ask is an issue with waiting time, sometimes when it's the computer's turn to play it takes like 1 or 3 minutes until the AI moves are calculated, is my computer just slow or can this be altered? Don't think my computer slows down because the screen itself does not slow down and I have FreeRamXp Pro installed.

Yesterday I installed the game and I just can't stop playing since... Normaly I'm not fond off playing fantasy strategy but This is such a good concept!!! and I've played many many many mods...

I mean, there is only one game where people can research "Passing thru the ether" :D Like it verry much, thank you developers! :king:

I'm just writing this to say hi to all the community, and to give a lot of thanks to the team that build this mod up.
As many have said before, this mod is, in my honest opinion, better than many games that come into stores.
As a fact, I have not played vanilla BTS since I discovered it a few weeks ago.

Big congratulations to the team, for this mod uses well the possibilities Civ 4 gives in expending gameplay through the different civilisations and religions.

I'll conclude by begging every native English speaker to forgive my english... and by wishing everybody here a merry Christmas.

Edit: nevermind, guess elves don't get siege. Seems like any game where you don't get fire mana is an unavoidable loss at moderately high difficulty but maybe I'm missing something.

Other than that great mod!

I recently got the gold edition of Civ 4, and Id been eyeing this mod ever since I was stumbling around looking for Colonization mods two weeks back.

But for some reason, when I download the vanilla edition, either the manual installer says it works then won't show me that the mod is available, and when I use the site installer it says Civ 4 doesn't exist. What can I do?

Step One: Make sure it's in the right folder. Depending on your operating system, that can be different than the default configuration. Double check the path, check the Civ4\Beyond the Sword\Mods directory . If there is no folder called "Fall from Heaven 2", then you installed it somewhere else. If your OS appends (x86) to all programs that aren't natively 64 bit, then check the Program Files\[whatever this directory is]\Civ4\Beyond the Sword\Mods directory for it.

The other possibility is that you got it through Steam, which is a bit different. Look in your Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\civ iv beyond the sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods directory and see if it's there. If not, it's not installed. And of course, if you're using a strange OS like mine, you may have to append (x86) to that Program files directory.

Step Two: Reinstall the game. If game disks are unavailable, you may be screwed. Either way, if the auto installer isn't finding Civ4, the registry entry may be . .. .. .. .ed. Reinstall or ask someone more knowledgeable about what the registry entry should look like. Either way, that'll fix FfH's auto installer.

Oh, and I don't have instructions for reinstalling the game through Steam. You'll have to figure that one out on your own.

Step Three: Be absolutely sure you have the Beyond the Sword expansion!!!

Well, I'm using Gold, which is Vanilla and warlords, so I'm downloading the vanilla version. And apparently, the download wasn't designed for Gold, so it downloaded to a nonexistant civ-4 folder, not going through 2k files. Thanks for helping me catch it! The games starting up now...

Hey Kael,

first thanks for that wonderful mod (also to everyone who participated with him).
My question is:
When does the Media Pack come out? And how can i deal in the meantime without the Media pack?

I think I might offend a few folk here. But I already heaped praise on the mod earlier in the thread :) . Is there a way to change the horribly pixelated 'Master of Magic II' title screen? I can't really understand why there is a title screen for another game - one that doesn't exist. I suspect a lot of people googled it as a result though and it would have generated more support for the *cause* - perhaps that's the thinking behind it. When everything else is so beautiful (the user interface, the maps, some of the leaders are incredible art work - who on earth drew them?) its such a shame that the title screen is pig ugly!

Huh? Master of magic title screen? Thats not the default FfH2 screen is it? (Mine's the usual fallen angel/demon thingie...)

And the list of artists are in the readme file.

That's odd. I don't have that - its sounds much more interesting and appropriate. I just dl'ed the mod the other day and applied the 'h' patch. Do folk with that patch have the same title screen? Not sure whats happened there.

It is based off which screen you used to use for BtS, and changed in the same location.

Load the game, go ADVANCED-->OPTIONS-->GRAPHICS TAB-->OPENING MENU DROPDOWN LIST.

From there you can change it to any of the 4 options.

Aha. Thanks very much. I actually preferred the Warlords version, so I've gone with that :) . Its still a little mis-sized however. The "Fall From Heaven II" title is cut off at the top.

I have the same problem. I guess you're using a 16:9 monitor and resolution? it seems like the title screen is designed for 4:3 .

p.s. Sphener looks awesome

Kael,

Many thx for such a glorious game. I decided to play a regular game until the scenario patch-storm dies down (after completing the Momus - love the updated map), and got one of my best ones ever (been playing since the original Civ).

Tried out the Golem-builders for the first time, Epic Standard Erebus, double everything, progressive difficulty. Started in the bottom right corner with nearly all plains hills and few food bonuses, good for one and a half middling cities. Nice one-tile choke, but not enough behind the choke to live on, so I nearly restarted. Cleared a spider to grab a grass river hill half city past the choke before the Vampires grabbed all the available land close by as the game was fast heading toward Deity.

So again nearly restarted when Tasunke declares on the Vamps and I join in, barely grabbing another half city with Barnaxus. Meanwhile Tasunke is cleaning up in record time, and I'm barely able to beat him to the last Vamp city, at the head of a nice grass hill river valley that gives me my first three legit cities. Still landlocked, still way behind, as the game hits Deity. The second, and last, war sees me grab Innsmouth, knocking out a peculiarly weak Hannah all the way at the other side of Tasunke's empire, then get a defensive pact with Varn to preclude Tasunke swallowing me in one bite.

I now have a coastal city, proceed to discover three isolated continents (Erebus is great at this - inland sea with mountain ranges making significant parts of the map only accessible thereby), wresting them from their barb occupants (barb assassins!), and ride their eventual productive/economic power to victory. Lots of diplomatic/exploration challenges along the way, as I eventually buy the Tower (its way too cheap) without ever getting a vassal (had to build all the nodes plus 4 holy city wonders), and dodging the outlawing of the mana necessary to get the Necro Tower built, blight that beat a best-ever Genesis by ten turns, etc...

All in all an incredible game.

A couple thoughts:

The AI really doesn't have a late game win, at least without Hall of Kings, which I was careful to nab. It can beat you, especially before you get started, but it can't win other than time in the long run. I'll have to try selecting the new Illians to see how they do.

Early game events are crippling the AI. I watched the replay, and meteors/miracle herbalist cures/volcanoes turned three civs into basket cases well into the 300th turn. All three had nice continents to settle.

By the way, is this the bug thread for 0.40? Don't want to post bugs here if they shouldn't be. ..fritz..

Hehe, well 16:10. The BTS title screen has been stretched instead. Better to miss a bit of the title than have the image stretched. I'm a little surprised the images are 4:3 as I thought most people would have 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio. May be I'm more upper class than I think, with my widescreen monitor and glass of port in hand. .

But I'm reluctant to complain - well in fact take that as a suggestion - as this mod is truly a magnificent piece of work. I can't believe how detailed and interesting the world of Erebus is. I normally turn my nose up when I see yet more fantasy in games - in fact that put me off trying the mod for a long time. But this is fantasy done good, done real good! And there's so many wonderful gameplay options and mechanics to learn, mess about with and who knows, master... Maybe... heh.
