I've combed the forums for a couple hours and it seems to be everyone is having problems with their game crashing from a mod. My regular CIV4 mods like Age of Discovery which do not need BTS have worked fine. However, upon using mods which require BTS the game merely loads to the main screen. The mods do not show up in any part of the game interface. I hope this isn't too much trouble!

I don't think so

gettin on that right now

it is now up to date, but not loading the mod. the problem persists

please open
my games\beyond the sword\civilizationIV.ini
and change all items with log in their name from 0 to 1 (its 5 of the last 6 items - just not the last one in that file). Then save it. Then start the game and load the mod - try starting a game with the mod even if you think its not loading. Quit the game and post all items in
my games\beyond the sword\logs as a zip file

winzip compressed it with a .zipx extension. which would not upload onto the site. i changed the extension so it would upload. i'm not sure what else to do if that didn't work

please re-zip it in winzip and before doing so go to options -> zipping options and chose legacy instead of best compression. This new compression method that the newer Winzip versions use is not recognized by non-commercial zipping programs

?
what I meant is this: when you want to load a mod do you
start the game - then click on advanced then on load a mod? I guess so - the reason I ask is: you could specify a mod to load in a shortcut and/or the civilizationIV.ini - the next thing I'd try would be to force the game to load a mod in the .ini - see if that works and then try to figure out why it won't do it the easy way.
Could give me the exact name of a mod you are trying to load (i.e. the name of the mod's folder in /mods ?
also: did you try putting the mod in the program files\Civilization 4\beyond the sword\mods\ folder instead of the my games one (i.e. the mods folder that is a subdirectory of the actual installation folder)?

awesome thanks. i was trying to load it just like a public map, but what you said worked out! thanks for everything
