Mod screen crash (sorry if fixed elsewhere but have been looking for hours)

Hi,
I've been perusing this site and others like it for hours now trying to find a fix to the mod screen crash problem in Gods and Kings. The closest I have come is this thread http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=465505, where a fix is mentioned, but whoward inexplicably refuses to tell the numerous commenters how to download the files. Are there any helpful Civ experts out there?

The thread link you've posted is irrelevant, the game has been updated since, and the file posted there would not work with the current version, that's why they have been removed.

What's the problem for you exactly ?

Yeah, sorry about that, was just using it as a shortcut to explain the issue. Basically, it's just the problem that I have seen lots of others talk about in G&K; when I enter the 'MODS' screen, the game almost immediately crashes to Windows. So is there a patch that I missed? Thanks.

Edit: Oh, and my game is not installed through Steam, so the fix that I have seen which involves making sure the game/Steam is online does not work for me.
