2) Is anyone else having the white flag problem with the new civs? my unit flags are all plain white squares sometimes, but not always, it's weird how random it is.
3) did you change any of the map generation scripts? pangea especially seems to be making coastlines that I like more
Yeah...I axed "Alaska" right out...I couldn't take a baseball player seriously popping up and negotiating with me. Many of the others will not make the cut, so to speak. While I'm fixing up the new Civs I'll be working on the flags problems.
I haven't changed any of the map scripts (not intentionally anyway).

Playing a Emperor/Marathon on earth_realism 1.3 map as China. As this is a huge map and a great time consuming quest Ill hate to restart it. Spec since I got an great start and actually am having an early lead which is hard in this diff level.
Happy / Yuck faces...probably missing. I made some changes to a fonts file to get the darn book/tuna symbols back and probably messed up the others. The fonts files are notoriously difficult to change correctly. I'll fix it...I'm sure that's where the "connected to capital" thingy went, too.
I didn't think the original marathon was 5000 turns long, but I've been wrong before! I'll look at it and extend it out.
