[MOD] Stone Ages: Alpha Revival

I loved this idea when I first saw it, and I was sad when it died in the development stage. I'm glad to see an attempt at reviving it.

About the moving camp idea... the main reason people moved around was to follow their food source. However, even the native americans moved around in a predictable pattern. It was cyclical, not erratic. Fish would move up and down the coastline in a predictable pattern that fishermen would follow, herds of wild animals would typically move around in a predictable pattern (only varying due to major climate changes) and hunters would follow. Gatherers would move in a predictable cycle, gaining food in one area and then moving on to other areas until eventually returning to the first area, where a new supply of food would have appeared in the interval. The main reasons to move long distances would be a climate change driving the animals to an entirely new location, or over-hunting, over-fishing and over-gathering that could deplete those food resources.

So, if there was a way to make it possible for resources to dissapear and then reappear, and make it possible to gain benefits from resources that aren't in the fat cross of an immobile city, then there would be a good reason to have a moving camp.

i wonder if that depends on the scale of map! im quite happy to play this mod on a smaller map with no oceans, or a pangea type map of any size . i think the military options would be great fun!

id have thought our ancestors had loads of scraps, using wooden stakes, clubs, various axes and simple spears - settlements would be protected with earth works or or simple wooden structures,or perhaps cave dwellings could be developed in hills (some kind of fort improvement?)

i think this mod has loads of potential for a lot of fun!! :)
 
You could design the mod to be played best on a pangea map; or one without large oceans; since i think the premise of the mod would probably work best on a smaller area of land in a much larger scale (especially if there are nomads involved)

I wish i can create that mod, but i don't have the sufficient knoledge in order to do so! Maybe you can?

sorry but i am dedicating all time i can spare to art for FfH, so no chance making this mod, while i would like to contribute one or too stonaged units or buildings, if the mod ever gets his feet on the ground
 
Yes I am interested. I am working on something now as well in the Woc for it. And want to have a bunch of religions in it. Working on the domestication of plants and animals. We also have planned to make a unit that acts like a moving camp.
