The Modcast is normally a great podcast that talks about pretty interesting subjects related to modding civ4. But this week they lowered their standards enough to allow me to come on and talk about FfH.

If your interested you can check it out here: http://polycast.apolyton.net/modcast/

I do chat a bit about whats to come in "Ice".

heh, just listened to it, the FFH parts anyways. And the succubus does show so...

Just recently listened to the one that seZereth was on, about halfway through 10 now. Unfortunately their website wouldn't allow me to get 4-7 or I'd actually have listened to all of their Modcasts in this past week. Pretty nice on the drive to school/work each day :) It'll suck when I catch up and have to wait for new ones :(

–noun Slang. 1. a stupid or ridiculous person; jerk; nerd.

Course I was going more for the nerd definition. For example, I stared in horror at my wife when she suggested "didn't Blizzard come up with the idea of orcs?", which launched me into a long speech on the history and mythology of orcish races in human culture. Eventually ending in my wife staring at me in horror for having so much useless knowledge in my head (and yet Im still get lost driving home on a regular basis).

Ahahah

I just made a little in my pants :goodjob:

OK OK... I always thought it was pronounced "Ka-zad", not "Ka-zard"... you learn something new everyday :)

no knowledge is useless. It's always good for funny anekdotes, which, if picked with a little caution, almost everyone likes to hear about, creating some great conversations. Atleast that's the case in my usual social environment, but then again i am dutch so...

lol! Anyway, Kael, could you at least get it to have subtitles or at least have a transcript for the FFH fans who are hard of hearing or deaf and want to know what was bieng said on the modcast? I'm hard of hearing myself.

I dont know of any way to do that other than going through and transcribing what each person says. And I am not up for doing that.

Specific to the "things to come" discussion we talked a little bit about the technical challenges of "Ice", which were conquering 2 technical challenges:

1. In game scenario loads.
2. Global metadata that stores when players have achieved certain feats and can be accessed from other games.

By combining the two we have the ability to unlock scenarios only on the achievement of certain goals (such as the successful completion of earlier scenarios). We can also have actions within scenarios effect later scenarios. The example given in the interview is that in one scneario the Ljosalfar and the Svartalfar are fighting, you can jump in to help either side against the other, or leave them to settle it themselves. Whichever side wins the conflict may show up in a later scenario. Of course it may also be used to gain/retain heroes, and much more.

I also mention that the scenarios are built around the stories of 3 main characters, though I don't go into who those are.

Everything else was pretty much just opinions on random stuff related to modding, and facts people who spend much time her on the forums probably know. The modcast guys are a good group so I think its worth listening to but the above should give you the info you are looking for.

I had no idea there were so many people playing this mod. Way cool!

Good interview - never thought to look for podcast regarding FFH2 - thanks for the resource.

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! love it totally, can't resist
