Do you possess or put together any models as a hobby? I haven't in years, and all mine are in storage, but I have five: F4F Wildcat, P-38 Lightning, Hawker Hunter, BAe Hawk 100, MiG 23 Flogger.

Poll coming.

No, because putting together models isnt that fun. Seems like work.

And since im not 5 years old i dont enjoy playing with toy planes or cars.

You don't play with models. You put them together, paint them, put the decals on, and then they just sit there like a statue or monument.

Need I remind you that you're posting on a video game forum and that people who are "fanatics" for a video game are also referred to as something that begins with the letter "n" and ends with "erds"?

I have one or two car models

and I have a few pinewood derby cars in which I pride myself in

other than that, not a whole lot. It's very time consuming and my rapid lifestye and busy mind won't allow for such anymore

You have a good point:p ...especially the last part.

Yeah so whats your point? We arent fanatics about models.

My point is that you shouldn't criticize others for having a "nerdy" hobby when you yourself are posting on a video game message board.

I make modles from scratch mostly, 28mm range. They get nifty things like working mechanics and electrics. I have this drawbridge I made that I'm working on retrofitting a remote to lower and raise it. I do have an A10 thats fully assembled and half painted.

I wasnt. I was stating my view and how i didnt like it. Thats not critisizing.

I dont understand how looking at a model on your table or whatever can be satisfying and entertaining.

Its satifies because you can take pride that you built something.

In other words, only immature or nerdy people put together models.

That's exactly what you said.

And as much as I enjoy boosting my postcount, this ends here.

Yes thats what i said, but for your last quote, i agree its nerdy of you.

Im not afraid of being called a nerd for having an extreme interest in something. Are you?

So Pasi ever visit http://armorama.com/?

These guys do so very detailed stuff.

No, I was never very serious about modeling. I bought all mine from the same small hobby shop back in Canada, and it took me a couple of years to assemble the five that I have remaining. There are a few more that became lost when my family moved many years ago. I don't think my works were very good anyways, I mean they looked good enough to put on display but certainly nothing compared to dedicated modelers.

I used to do some small model-kits when I was a bit younger, but stopped as I began to lose interest, and we lost any good shops for the hobby. Been thinking about going back into it again, mainly for the chance to practice at painting them. I'm terrible at hand-painting/colouring, and think it would be a good thing to help with co-ordination.

My favourite models that I completed was a Spitfire, a Harrier Jump-Jet and the RMS Titanic. I think I also had a tank, but I can't remember what type. I also learned for life that helicopters are the most fiddly things you can possibly try to create :p

I did a bit in my younger days. Today I lack the time, energy, money, and talent to get into them, but it is no more nerdy than, really, any hobby out there.

Id say military modles are on the low nerdiness end of the model spectrum. I rest at the top. Its a cross between model rail road and table top gaming but I do niether.
