Currently Under Construction... working very slowly

Some may remember the old thread I started a while ago when I was building this map, and many helpful resources came into play. The city placement itself is finished (but not set in stone yet if changes are necessary). I still need to get all the populations of the cities and the buildings inside of the cities done. I'd say all of the units that will be in the cities to start are alreayd placed too.

This is my first mod/scenario (I'm not really sure what the difference b/w them is)

I'm not a very creative person, so I started this thread to help me get idea's from everyone on what to do, mainly:
-the Tech Trees (2000-2010; 2010+) For civs in type 2 (i.e.-balkan/baltic states)
-units after the starting time (some present units, and future units)
-any other helpful ideas about what i can use

Requests that I have right now:
-specific modern infantry for all the nations (especially United Kingdom, France, Russia, Austria. They are using the civ WWII unit infantry)

If you want to show a realistic present day situation militaristic for Germany is prehaps not the best choice.

Aside from that I usually would not go for the formal head of state as leader for each country cause in some cases that is just a formal position.

e.g.
Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel for Germany
Prime Minister Gordon Brown for UK

well, the only reason why i chose Germany as a militaristic nation is to represent the weapon manufacturing and exporting that Germany is currently active in; they are the third largest in the world (following the US and Russia).

I know very little about politics, and even less about foreign politics. I tried to accurately represent the leaders fo the country, and I'd love to correct some of the names that are up there, but I only went by what seemed right to myself (which you'll find will probably be wrong 80% of the time in this situation)

Its just the question what you want to show with the militaristic feat.

- To represent a militaristic society: That would (fortunately) not fit for Germany today
- To represent a good organized well trained military: Prehaps, but in this case France and UK and some others should get the militaristic too.

Other ways to represent the military edge of some nations would be to give them better/cheaper units, and to giv them a higher tech level at the beginning. If you use civspecific governments you could also change the unit upceep for them.

In Weapon production and export Germany is compareable to France, there are different statistics in the Internet (some weapon corporations can hardly be assinged to a single country e.g. EADS is a German,French,Spanish corporation operating from the Netherlands :crazyeye: )

But after all it's your Mod and it's just my two cents...

If you are interested I could check your country list completely and make you a list with suggestions what to change.

Another thing i noticed is Czechoslavakia are you aware that it has split up to the Czech Republic and Slovakia, or did you ignored it for gameplay issues (32civs cap)?

Anyway Religious seems a bad choice for the czech, it is one of the most atheistic countries in the world

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild:Atheists_Agnostics_Zuckerman_de.svg

militaristic seems a bit odd to me too.

Otherwise Poland is quite a Religious country

My suggestion would be

Poland: Religious/Agricultural
Czech(oslavakian) Republic: Commercial/Scientific (Czechnia is along with Slovenia the most advanced of the former eastern block nations)

For Italy Religious would be a good choice too.

Well this is just my opinion, if you don't like it ceep is your way.

all you're opinions are welcome here, and I'd love to have more information, that would be great. the problem that I faced with Germany, is I wasn't quite sure what fourth trait to give them if they weren't Militaristic... if you can give me a better alternative, I'd be happy to comply

as for the religious trait, it was one of the traits I wasn't really able to place that well, along with Agricultural. usually if I didn't know what traits to give a Civ, they got one of those two (or both)

Portugal should be religious.

sorry about the delay... I was gone for a few days, and I just got back

I took those suggestions and made the changes

Portugal should be religious.

done

id say latvia/lithuania are historically more seafaring than religious

historically? meaning they've been known for it, or they are right now, because I'm trying to represent Europe today/year or two back maybe/as close as possible

Indeed, Brian Cowen is more the leader than Mary is for us, Ireland :)

And, if I remember correctly, flag leaderheads for eery single modern country were made by one user...

Aha, here they are
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83603

changed the leader, that helped alot, and THANK YOU for the leaderheads. I looked, and whenever I found them, I would find leaderheads for several countries, but never all of them, that will help ALOT

will this be coming out soon, because it looks fantasichttp://forums.civfanatics.com/images/smilies/yumyum.gif

I see you chose Bruxelles, Bruges and Arlon as cities for Belgium.
A few comments:
- You should name it 'Brugge', not 'Bruges'. Brugge is the Flemmish name (Bruges is French), and seeing that Brugge is in the Flemmish part of Belgium, there is no reason to call it Bruges. Same thing would apply to Bruxelles, which is officially bilingual French and Flemmish, so as to avoid any conflicts, just use the English name: Brussels.
- I don't get why you picked Arlon as a major Belgian city. Sure it is the capital of a province, but it is not even ranked in the top 100 of the biggest cities in Belgium. If I remember correctly, this list starts with Brussels (Brussel-Bruxelles), followed by Antwerp (Antwerpen-Anvers), then Ghent (Gent-Gand), then Charleroi, and then maybe Liège (Luik)? Now, my proposition would be to Keep Brussels and Brugge, but to replace Arlon with Luxembourg (maybe use their own language, I think it is spelled Letzeburg or something like that), and in that case, change the Belgian Civilization in a combination of Belgium and Luxembourg. These 3 cities are spread out far enough geographically to be used on such a small terrain.

Anyway, these are just a few propositions from a Belgian resident :). And congrats on the scenario/mod, it looks very nice.

thanks Vlacatocc, very much. I'm trying to keep this map as accurate as possible, and not living in Europe myself, it made it difficult for me

all input is welcome here, and I'm going to go make those changes right away

The city isn't called Isai - it's Iasi. :)

Wow we're religious. :smug:
