Great work gapetit. I remember I had drawn extra units for all the factions to expand Timur, one of my favourite scenarios... maybe one day.
Not only that, I see DMB and I think Fall Weiss. I see Haiti and I think Cuban Missle Crisis. More ships yo draw, methinks.
Excelllent ;)

Hi Gapetit,

I played the Second Front scenario many years ago and along with Red Front is certainly one my favorites, though a little controversial in its design.

As I remember there are 5 factions in the game, 3 German (Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe and Army )and 2 Allied (Ground Forces and AirForce). You have can only play in HotSeat mode and only control the Allied ground forces as the Allied Air Force is an independent faction. I'm not certain why the designers did this, as I feel they could easily have incorporated the 3 German and 2 Allied factions into just one faction for each side.

The other issue you need to be aware of is that the scenario is designed to swap game files (game.txt, rules.txt and event.txt ), I believe a dozen or so times in the game. It uses a bat file to do so but in today's terms you would need to ensure that you coded the bat file to be able to work for 64 bit computers as well.

Even more significantly it used the delevent.exe file to erase the previous events. Again this is potentially an issue for players with 64 bit computers as the older delevent event file won't work on their computers. They need the updated delevent.exe for 64 bit computers and even then the bat file won't properly erase the previous file.

I recently replayed Red Front and had to 1) comment out the delevent command from the bat file (i.e. : DELEVENT RF.sav) and 2) whenever the game asked me to swap files, manually drag and drop the newly saved sav. file over the delevent.exe to ensure that the previous events where wiped clean.

As such, not all players might be willing to follow these steps, but for others the relatively small inconvenience is well worth the effort. I had a blast playing Red Front again and would certainly enjoy replaying the Second Front as well.

The only other issue, I might recall having was that the ground tiles didn't have the stackable feature thus one of your stacks could easily be killed by a single enemy unit. TNO stack kills function would have been a great addition though I don't know if it could be added today without affecting play balance.

EDIT: You control both Allied factions but they don't play at the same time. I think first you play the Ground faction and once you completed your turn you get to play the Allied Air Force (or vice-versa).

Hello tootall_2012. Thanks for the info. So you indicate the scenario is completed, with quirks, but it's over. With this I hope to play and adding improved graphics. Cheers

This one looks fun. Have you tried playing it yet? This scenario crashes at the beginning of my 2nd turn. It doesn't matter which civ I play as; the game will always crash. I've isolated the problem to the Rules.txt file, but I can't figure out exactly what is causing the crash. Does this game work for you, Gapetit? I'm using the most recent TOTPP patch.

I'll check ... I had played long ago and now only modified graphics and sound Rules but ... I get to the stage to see where the fault is. Thanks for the warning.

I think I've found the incidence ... it seems was not on Rules, the problem was the SCN. When I had made Tot conversion, I had left some number, in 2 blocks, as well explained Catfish: Zero In These blocks everything. If there is any number the game eject you in the second round. The point is that I do not expel me ... Command scn corrected to ensure that the scenario works well now. When you confirm the OK, I will modify the envoy. Cheers

I tried your new SCN file. Unfortunately the game still crashes at the beginning of the second turn :( When I deleted the Rules.txt file, the scenario was able to run smoothly. (To test this, you can replace the 7 years war Rules with the Civ2 default Rules. Make sure to change the movement of helicopters to 0; otherwise, the first turn will last too long!)

I rechecked the rules ... and I have not seen the error ... but I remembered that I had been removed h of Brandenburg. I left it as it was. If this also fails not know what else to do, we would need the help of someone else.

Brandenburg(h) was not the problem. Finally, I figured out that there was something wrong with the @CIVILIZE section. The prerequisites for The Corporation and Electricity needed to be changed to their defaults. The game now works for some reason!

Also, there were some errors in the EVENTS file. Whenever the Battle Plans or Gate Info units were created, the Triggerattacker (non-Prussians) became the owner of these units. This makes no sense, as the events cannot work properly unless the Prussian enemies are ultimately able to capture (kill) the battle plans and gate info!

Great minipow, your :scan: is perfect: tomorrow send the scenario with the incidence resolved in Rules and your improved Evens. Congratulations, I believe that an impact on @CIVILIZE is the most complicated to solve. :goodjob:

Thanks gapetit. I have no idea why there was a problem with @CIVILIZE, but I solved it using a meticulous, trial-and-error approach.

I was leaving for vacation around the crecación units missing me, but today I had an inspired day and have finalized the units were missing. I send the new scenario. Bye

He, he, I've designed a diplomat unit for this one. One like I guess you've never seen before. No one would put hands on that one, unless you're a jerk!

I modified the scenario with the improvements made by minipow01, which I modified something: I do not think the findings have importance in this scenario, but originally had changed so that civilization could advance (although industrialization for example have a no,no). And so I modified the two advances for you to discover; and I was looking at the scene yesterday, I made changes and I included units
