[Modmod]Dawn of Knoedel - Comprehensive Rebalance Project

I'm seriously considering renaming Serfdom to Corvée (System). Thoughts?

Oligarchy now has a -10% Production penalty for wonders, because it's overpowered and I figured oligarchy is the least likely form of government to encourage grand wonders, while others do it for the glory of an autocrat or the people as a whole.

I am considering the following civics changes:

Renaming Tribalism to Subsistence, removing all effects
Renaming Serfdom to Corvee (however you spell it), perhaps moving it back to an earlier tech, Calendar, Mathematics, Code of Laws, Writing, Pottery?
Renaming Subsistence (the default economy civic) to Reciprocity

Does your modmod includes this stuff

That's a good question, I don't actually know because I never paid any attention to graphics. I know that I hear different music when playing Islamic or Asian civs than European ones, so at least the dynamic soundtrack is probably integrated. I'll look into this deeper when I'm preparing a proper release sometime between next week and next century.

It's very unlikely that dynamic soundstracks, Blue Marble or Carbon HUD will break with any change. VD and ECS may depending on new units, civs or buildings.

I compared two mods, and it seems that Loereth DoC is around 700 mb bigger than Koendels modmod.
So, does size matter? :lol::lol::lol:

Jokes aside, i think that Knoedels mod is bare as a virgin in first wedding night ;)

I think the difference comes from the fact that the modmod only makes up what is referred to as the Core Mod in the installer, but is still compatible with all other modules.

Well I don't know, I literally just copy pasted the DoC folder connected to the Github repository sometime between 1.13 and 1.14, re-applied all changes I made in the original version of my modmod, made a repository of my own, and have been updating that thing ever since.

But you don't roll out an install wizard, right? It bundles content from five different Git repos.

Not yet, at the moment I literally only have the repo. I was planning to alphabetically go through every single civ to make sure their historic experience is fun and realistic, but I have been stuck at Brazil for weeks because I just can't seem to get any slaves. Once I'm done with that I will prepare a proper release before moving on to the new tech tree and what challenges that might bring.

So Knoedel-Loereteh, yuo guays think that is possiblle to copy Knoedels mod over Loereth (except graphical and sound files)!DoC, and hve best from 2 great mods?

You have to be a bit more specific than that. Both mods are basically identical feature wise, with only differences in units, civics and so on. You definitely have to make a choice for each of these difference if you want a merge of the mod.

That's not how that works, that's not how any of this works. If anything it would be easier to copy graphics and sounds from Leoreth's mod to mine than everything else the other way around.

Actually I did add some new features that require DLL changes, like range strikes and Golden Ages from culture.

Hi, two questions about this mod:

1. Golden ages. There appears to be a new dynamic here, alas not explained in the pedia (is it?). What contributes to golden ages, how do I check GA progress? Apologies for asking in repetition, but this is not discussed on either the very first nor the latest pages of this thread and seaching in a monster thread is a b!tch.

2. Doubled movements and the Russian player. Russia's supposed UP is general winter. If all units move faster, this is weakened pretty much. Do you plan on increasing winter damage on units to make up for this? Or maybe come up with a new, actual unique power for Russia? Asking for a friend who gets frustrated by barb horse archers.

And thanks for working on this "mod3". I understand DoC is pretty much a one guy project, so this parallel development might work like permanent critique and improvement, potentially.

Why are Askaris still called Askaris? Ignorance to racist affairs vs. racist indifference?

Hello Ecthy. :)

Unfortunately I have not yet been able to figure out how to add a new page to the pedia, or I would have done so to explain this and other mechanics. Golden Ages are triggered by accumulating culture, and progress can be tracked by hovering over the culture bar of any of your cities.

I think it's only fitting that the greatest threat to Russia should be fast moving units like tanks or cavalry. That said, crossing a river consumes all remaining movement, so perhaps your friend can use terrain to their advantage?

Actually there is lots of community involvement in the main mod. Still, I'm trying the best I can.

Why are Askaris still called Askaris? Ignorance to racist affairs vs. racist indifference?
Because I am alphabetically going through each and every single civ's unique units and buildings to make sure they are fitting and historical, and I am still stuck between Brazil and Byzantium, but as soon as I get past the letter E you can rest assured that this will be fixed. One of Ethiopia's UUs will definitely become the Mehal Sefari, I just don't know about the second yet.

I wouldn't add a completely new category to the pedia. I would rather add a new page to the concepts category, which is easily done by XML. (BasicInfos/NewConceptInfos.xml)

:* You, merijn, are one awesome guy.

New commit:

Merged a bunch of stuff, renamed some civics (Tribalism->Subsistence, Serfdom->Corvee, Subsistence->Reciprocity), fixed some minor things here and there, added a concepts page in the pedia explaining the new mechanics I added, and revised Byzantium. For those who don't use the magical Github connection, I also changed the scenario files.

Note: Later on Tagmata were exclusively cavalry units, or so Wikipedia tells me. Maybe they should replace Knights, while Cataphracts replace Heavy Horsemen?

If anyone were to play a game with Brazil to see if it's actually realistically possible to achieve the first UHV that would be much appreciated. I have grown sick and tired of playing them over and over again, so I decided to just move on and return to them later.
