Modules - Civilizations/Leaderheads

I'm working on porting the Italian civilization from ViSa to WoC. I'm using other WoC civs as template, but i don't know how to port the graphics too.

Anyone can tell me the procedure or have a link to another thread? Thanks.

Do you have the graphics unpacked? Use the PakBuild to unpack them, which you can get here, http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=136023. Another good tool is Mambas Woc converter which is here, http://worldofciv.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/wocmodules. Its version 4, although i think he has a version 5 out now. It will do the xml for you. Good luck. If need help let us know.

Thanks Rockinroger. I used PakBuild to unpack the art, it runs fine, for the Centurion unit i added the ViSa graphics in the correct WoC folder. I have a question: is necessary to include in the Art definitions for the units the SHADERNIF and the SHADOWDEF? Seems that this two is not in visa art for this unit.

I don't tried Mambas because the link won't open.

Thanks Rockinroger, i will do it a try and will report back, hope soon, there's to much to do at work this week.

@Rockinroger
I've made some good progress in the porting of italian civilizations, thanks to pakbuild i used the art from Visa, so the main problem is easier to manage.

Actually i made the Civilizations, LeaderHeads and Unit Centurion. For test this stuf exists some program that parse the XML without load the entire game? Without this program i lost 10 minutes for test try, too slow!

Another question is if there's possible to start Bts in debug mode.

Also could be useful to have some detailed documentation on what every single node of the XML schema do in the game exactly.

UPDATE 1
I managed to make the XML clean, the game start, i choose custom game with Vittorio Emanuele II as leader and now it works. Some more thing to do is to make other unique units as well as buildings and all the other thing that are linked.
One change that i made to Vittorio is that i deleted the expansionist trait in favour of the industrialist, is more accurate i think, Vittorio Emanuale do the first industrialization in Italy, and the 50% fast wonder building reflect the monumental value of the country. The Italy was not very good as expansionist country! ;)

Im looking for some first contact quotes for the following leaderheads.

1. Austria: Franz and Maria
2. Brazil: Dom Pedro
3. Cherokee: Ostenaco
4. Hungary: Mathias and Stephen
5. Iroquois: Hiawatha
6. Pirates: Henry Morgan
7. Ukraine: Tymoshenko

Also need the other Diplomacy quotes, but just want these first. Thanks.

PakBuild seems to be 2.14, there is a 2.15 however (the Win2000 version, which I do use on XP as well).

well that is because I assume there's a difference between XP and 2000..and for XP firaxis has 2.14 as latest..but I'll update the page tomorrow to include both XP and win2000 versions..both seem to work on my vista PC..so who knows :)

@Rockinroger

I've almost done with italian civilizations with some changes:
1) Leaderheads: Vittorio now is Industrious and Organized.
2) Removed Bell Units. Added unique Battleship "Vittorio Veneto" (to be completed)
3) Grenadero a Caballo now is named Horse Grenadier.

I had to do the quotes and i think that i can post here a zip file with all the stuff, or maybe if u have another idea on how i can send you the civ.

Because the lack of time i don't think about a complete reorganization of the unique units for italians, based on accurate history study. Will come after the first release if you agree.

Im working on converting civs from Civ Gold, just finished Finland. Any particular requests to do first? Also if you got Diplomacy quotes for any civs let me know, Thanks.

This may be an unusual request as an option, but how about adding leader heads that wouldn't be an actual leader head? Make the option to have no specific leader heads, and instead of having to choose between which person to lead your nation, have no leader to choose and have something else that symbolizes your empire represent the leader or something like that. The reason I think this would be an interesting option is because I think it's unfair and biased to either have to pick a select few people the game producers considered important leaders. Then you could use those leader names for more great people. And then also get rid of the leader head characteristics and either add the option to have none or to choose which ones you want to use for your country and other ones. It would give the player more versatility in choice.
