I don't think it was a horrible map. Personally, I think it makes made you really think about city placement and where to put your first few cities and what resources to claim because you had some AI's so close. Personally, this was the hardest map because I didnt have an ocean to separate me from half of the AI's and their horrible attempts to cross ocean adventures which made it easier on some of the other maps. Have we already decided about the next one?

If I'm not mistaken it was a toroidal Lakes map? Toroidal wrap combined with no oceans can make a map much harder as controlling borders and frontiers becomes much harder and you can't fight with your back against a wall. Adding oceans or removing wrap simplifies things a lot.

True, this map made me really think about my diplomacy much in advance. Mainly because everyone had at least 3-4 shared borders with another AI and you couldnt hid on your own little island :) Thus, you really had to think about who you were trading with and going to war etc.

The aspects of it that Teelman describe are certainly good things from the point of view of adding up to an interesting game (although diplomacy in my game was pretty simple as most civs went Buddhist and there was very little warring). I just felt the the terrain was a little...boring.

Also, one thing that really stood out about the other games in this series was the dynamic interactions of the AIs, which may or may not have been intentional. In the Toku game, not much happened. I was the only one stirring things up. :p However, that was probably a result of the religious situation which is pretty random I guess. Any time you have one religion dominating you are likely to have harmony among the civs.

Anyway, looking forward to the next one. :)

I am looking forward to the next one as well. Do we have any information on it yet Meatbuster? Civ/map/starting date etc?

Game starts in a while after I perhaps iron out the map one last time. Since IU Willem is still very much alive, he will be delayed again. We're going with an above-average leader this time. Check the first post. :D

Hmm... think it may be good to provide a hut and non-hut save? It only takes a minute to wipe huts off from the face of the earth.

BTW Willem's game has already been re-generated without huts, so can't change that anymore. :D

I noticed that LHC ran Willem. Guess I still should run it though.

@Meatbuster
We should do a Wang Kong game and utilize the Hwacha. Huge, pangea, NO events. It would be really fun, and Wang Kong isn't used that many times for IU's, NC's, and MS's. Unique, fun, conquest. What do you say!

Hmm... larger map sizes may put off some people with worse computers. :)
I have a compromise though: standard low sea level with more enemy civs than usual.

Standard, low sea level will give us more of a huge feel. I thought it sounded like a great idea! :)

Do you think it might make the next installment? :confused:

EDIT: 777th post! :jesus:

07 - Napoleon of France (10/8/09)
* Why isn't there a CHM/CRE leader? Is it just as broken as IND/PHI? Or ORG/PRO? Didn't think so.
* Map: Tectonics "Earthlike Wet Aridity"

08 - Bismarck of Germany (???)
* Expansive means Bismarck has more population and workers faster, to start building wonders earlier. O rly?
* Map: Continental Highlands

09 - Darius of Persia (???)
* One of the best leaders. With horse nearby. What could go wrong?
* Map: Arid Fractal

10 - Wang Kon of Korea (???)
* Wang's UU doesn't kill any units unless attacked. It's a pacifist!
* Map: Temperate Pangaea "Low Seas"

*rubs hands together*

These should be good. Napoleon should be a gas, haven't tried him yet but he strikes me as a fun kind of guy.

Bismarck I dunno. I have no strong feeling about him but his traits are hard to fail with.

Haven't played Darius either but Immortals are one of my favourite UUs. The only time I ever exterminated a civ before 1000BC was with Immortals, travelled all the way across a continent to take out Monty. :D Darius' traits are obviously pretty abusive... Arid map eh? I'm guessing there will be a lot of plains, which may limit a FIN cottage orgy to some extent, but also bugger the AI most likely.

And Wang Kon is solid all over, albeit not hugely exciting. Those universities are very nice and augment his decent FIN economy.
