Monarch succession game (PTW)

Ill change the name tomorrow. Right now Ill keep it the same so nobody will have trouble finding it. I geuss Ill change it to "Combat in Turbans: Persian Conquests" or something. Anybody have any suggestions? :)

Civ: Persia
Land Mass: Continents, %70 water
Wet
normal world age
8 civs
normal sized map

All victory conditions are enabled except diplomatic (I HATE that, and it is kind of boring just to stay weak and make friends the whole game imo)

Lets discuss our starting strategy. We are Persia so we will start near the Zulu, Ottomans, Babylonians and Arabs. The Zulu are usually closest. I think our best goal would be to aquire a continent of our own. Trying to do this peacefully seldom works. 10 imortals with more constantly being built wmight work. We can demand techs for peace. Maybe we could try that strat where you have one unconnected city build warriors. Then we upgrade the warriors to quickly grab some immortals. We can rotate who we attack. Once we have enough cities we should throw up a FB in a city that isnt to far from our capital. What do you think?

We could play 1.14, but I have 1.21 and I dont know where you can dl 1.14 anymore :( So I geuss 1.21 unless there is somewhere I can get 1.14. Ill post the save but lets discuss our strategy a little before we start.

i like that. we should have one, maybe two unconnected cities producing warriors. although i would rather build our fp farther away to maximize the continent, not just our inner cities.

Lkysam: It's being sent as I write this.

I would like to play, but am unsure about other time commitments. If you are wililng to accept that I may have to be skipped one or more times, or even drop out of the game completely at some point if other commitments get too much, then I'll play.

Oh, as for our game plan, I have to comment that it probably won't survive actual contact with what the game throws at us :)

But anyhow, my preference would be to expand peacefully, grabbing as much land as we can, and then go to war iff we don't get as much land if we want. Of course, I'm a compulsive builder, so that's just the way I like doing things :)

Thanks sirp! I dont mind at all if you cant play some, but if you can could you postit here or email me if you arent going to play a turn so we dont have to wait? I geuss sirp is now the most experienced. So do you want to do the first 20 turns?

Lkysam: Oh yes, I will definitely let you know if I can't play in advance.

I'll be happy to play the first 20 turns. Since I assume the original start you generated was using version 1.21f, I'll regenerate a new start myself.

Cheers,

-Sirp.

0 4000BC: I want more intelligence before settling. It looks like there's just forest to the north, so I decide to move the worker west, even though that means two moves back to the bonus grassland, I think it's worth it for the intelligence. The worker's movement reveals that there's just hills to the immediate west, and so Persepolis is best founded where the settler stands.

Research set to pottery at max. Warrior ordered.

1 3950BC: worker moves back toward the bonus grassland

2 3900BC: worker moves onto the bonus grassland

3 3850BC: worker starts mining

4 3800BC: blah.

5 3750BC: warrior produced. Set to build another. Warrior heads south.

6 3700BC: worker finishes mining. Starts building road. Warrior goes onto mountain and sees niceish looking land to the south. No bonus food tiles in site yet though

7 3650BC: A Zulu scout shows up from the south-east. He will 'almost' give us Pottery and Warrior Code for Masonry + 10 gold. I think I'll risk waiting a couple of turns rather than give him both our techs.

8 3600BC: Worker finishes road and goes east to work and spots wheat by a river. Yummy.

9 3550BC: A Zulu warrior shows up in the south. Persepolis produces a warrior. Ok, the warrior will stay put in the city and Persepolis will build a spearman, after which the warrior will go and explore.

10 3500BC: blah.

11 3450BC: Shaka agrees to our terms: Masonry and 10 gold for Pottery and Warrior Code. The tip of Zulu borders are spotted in the south, but our warrior turns away in another direction now.

Research is set to Iron Working at max. Due in 36 turns but should come in much less.

12 3400BC: With Shaka not seeming to have his warrior heading for our capital, and with our spearman due in just 4 turns, I send the warrior off exploring and take luxuries to 20%.

Shaka has discovered BW some other way. Drat.

13 3350BC: blah.

14 3300BC: ditto.

15 3250BC: Persepolis builds a spearman and is set to build a SETTLER. Why? There is a high-food site very near by, and I figure that the fastest way we can grow is by getting our second city founded asap and making it into a settler farm. We will build a granary in Persepolis after the settler.

Luxuries nixed.

16 3200BC: blah.

17 3150BC: ...

18 3100BC: We contact the Ottomans in the east. They have 14 gold and Ceremonial Burial. I start sending one of our warriors back to protect the forthcoming settler.

19 3050BC: The Ottomans have a settler coming west toward us. I think we are going to need those Immortals.

20 3000BC: Persepolis grows to size 3 and luxs -> 10%. Our worker moves onto the wheat to irrigate it.

I intend for the settler to settle one tile right of the wheat. It'll have three enriched grasslands and the wheat in its immediate radius, and will thus make for a powerful city.

The Ottoman are to the east, and they have a settler in that fog to the south of our warrior. (too close for comfort!)

The Zulu are to the south; I sighted their borders (just the tip), and so turned back. Sadly I haven't done any exploration to the west :(

We want to settle our second city on the red dot. After that Persepolis should probably build at least one warrior to go west before starting on the granary. However the priority is a granary in our second city. If we need more units, make them in Persepolis and let the second city go straight for its granary. It may be prudent to get another spear from Persepolis as well as a warrior.

I hope the Ottomans don't settle too near.

bewareofgnomes: Firstly, you called the file lky1-3000bc. 3000BC is the year at the end of *my* turn.

Secondly, I couldn't open it. This game is being played using 1.14f. Is that the version you have installed and played with?
