Monarch succession game (PTW)

I thought you said you were gonna buy it? If you own it but it is scratched i think it might be legal to use a crack. Not sure. Check the EULA. If it isnt legal then I think firaxis (or infrogames or something) will give you a new copy for $5 or something if you send em the original CD.

well, i bought one used but its the comp thats the problem. i just ordred a new comp that should be here wendsday.

Sorry - RL caught up to me yesterday. I hope to post my turns tonight.

I started playing and just to let you know, there are AI's founding cities almost up to our capitals borders.

For all of you peaceful builders (of which I am usually one), get ready to beat your plowshares into swords for war will soon be upon us.

Just so everyone know, I wont be able to play on wendsday. But if you get it up later I can play today.

Lkysam,

I am sorry this is taking so long - I did not have access to my P.C. yesterday. I will post the file by 7p.m. EST.

Preturn - Take a look around. This does not take long when you have 1 city and a handful of units who have already moved...

1) Explore with warriors

2) Settler -> Warrior - need more scouts. Change slider to reduce negative cash flow (1.8.1) MOve settler to make city by the wheat, but Ottoman Spear/Settler in vicinity

IT Ottomans make City right on top of us (on the Lake)

3) Will move settler to river

IT Zulu build city to south of Persopolis

4) move settler to far side of river

5) build Pasgardae (warrior)

6) Persopois warrior -> Granary -> Warrior explores

7) Explore

8) Explore

9) Explore

10 Explore

We are boxed in between AI's and mountains. Not a pretty start

Stormrider, why did you start a warrior in Pasagarde, and a granary in Persepolis when the explicitly stated plan was to prioritize a granary in Pasagardae?

Lkysam, I suggest that you switch Pasagardae to building a granary and Persepolis to building military units. Persepolis can get its granary a little later.

-Sirp.

Preturn: Pasagarde starts granary, Persops starts spearmen to send to pasagarde.
Luxury rate set to %0 and I set science up to %90.

2510 bc: Explore
2470 bc: Persops finishes spear and I send it to Pasagarde, explore. Worker
finishes mine and starts and I send him to irrigate the wheat.
2430 bc: Bleh
2390 bc: Bleh
2350 bc: bleh
2310 bc: Worker irrigates wheat, I send him to build a road over the mine. 6 turns till IW.
2270 bc: Persops builds a spearmen, I set it to build a settler. I plan to use it to grab Iron.
2190 bc: I set luxury to %20 to prevent Peropolis from revolting next turn when it grows.
2150 bc: Bleh, move worker to mine plains near Pasa.
2110 bc: Bleh

Analysis: I think we are getting off to a good start, Persopolis will finish its settler soon, I think we should use it to secure a source of Iron if
we dont have one already. If we get stuck without Iron we will be in a VERY bad position. I think we will need to wip ojut the old immortals soon.
Maybe try and get some Zulu land, they usually crumple easily early on, but thats on monarch :) .

I'm up now I take it? I got it. I haven't looked at the game yet, but I might veto the settler in Persepolis, in favor of barracks. We're going to need to attack someone in the near future, and I don't think that bleeding our capital of citizens is going to be the best way to do that. We'll use a worker to build a colony on any iron if absolutely necessary.

With so many hills and mountains around there just *has* to be iron somewhere nearby.

Oh and Lkysam, this isn't Civ2, cities don't revolt the turn they grow, only the turn *after* they grow. It's safe to let them grow, and *then* see if luxury increases are necessary. Cities only revolt 'without warning' if luxuries are suddenly cut off, or as a result of war weariness.

-Sirp.

(IT) 2110BC: Reconfigure Pasagardae to max growth.

Sheesh the Ottomans have lots of land around them, I wonder why they decided to settle so near us? Must be good resources there!

The settler decision in Persepolis will wait until after we have IW.

(1) 2070BC: IW comes in. We have iron right next to Persepolis. Persepolis switched to a granary. (Tough choice out of that and barracks).

Researching Alphabet. The ottomans don't have iron in immediate range as far as we can see, so we trade IW for Ceremonial Burial and The Wheel. The Zulu and the Ottomans are both ahead Mysticism on us, but the Zulu lack IW. They wouldn't trade it for Mysticism.

(2) 2030BC: blah.

(3) 1990BC: nada.

(4) 1950BC: The ottomans found Iznik near us as well. They have four cities to our two. Not good. Understandable since they have a very strong starting location.

(5) 1910BC: blah.

(6) 1870BC: Gee there's perfectly good land to the south-east of the Ottomans! Why didn't they expand in that direction?

(7) 1830BC: nada.

(8) 1790BC: blah

(9) 1750BC: Persepolis builds its granary. Set to build a worker.

(10) 1725BC: Pasagardae builds its granary. Set to build a settler.

NOTES:

The priority of the worker out of Persepolis is to improve tiles south of the city, NOT to hook up the iron straight away. Immediately after the worker is built, build a barracks in Persepolis and a whole heap of (upgradeable) warriors. After the other plains/grassland tiles around Persepolis are improved, then hook up the iron, upgrade warriors, start producing Immortals, and prepare to go after the Ottomans.

Pasagardae might want to start producing military after it gets one settler out. More cities than that won't help us this early, and we want to strike the Ottomans quick and fast. Why the Ottomans? Because they are being much more aggressive than the Zulu, and we should be able to take out their two closest cities before their reinforcements can arrive, and then sue for peace if we want it. The Zulu are nearer and faster moving with their Impi.

We want to strike quick and fast, because we want to make enough room to go back into normal expansionary mode.

Good Luck!

The Game

yes bewareofgnomes, I believe that you're up now.

Sirp <-- Just played
bewareofgnomes <-- UP NOW
Lkysam <-- on deck
Stormrider

ok, "got it" will play tonight. this will be build up turn as im not the most confident warfarer

Don't worry BoG, your turn will *definitely* be a buildup turn. We don't have any attacking units yet, heck we don't even have a barracks yet. It'll take us at least 20 turns before we're ready for war.

Just get us another city in a reasonable location, a barracks in Persepolis, and a couple of veteran warriors, and you'll have done well.

-Sirp.

Oh, just an announcement. I cant play any turns on monday or wendsday, I have alot going on then. If my turn happens to come up on one of those days I wont be able to say "I got it" but the next day I will play. So I will be in the 48 hour time period to play but not the 24 hour period to say I got it. Is that ok? How long do we plan to warmonger? Until we can get FB?

Lkysam: It's your game, your rules.

We don't have to make war for a long time if we don't want to. Just enough to get ourselves a solid ring of cities around Persepolis. It's sad that we're going to have our golden age wasted, but....these things happen.

-Sirp.

i played until 1400 b.c. and since i dont have word and paper i took no turn log. we researched alphabet, set to writing at minimum. ottomans have a HUGE chunk of land. built warrior, set to temple as clearing forest will bring in some shields. started 2nd settler at pasagrade, change if you wish. here is the save
