MOO2Civ

Polarid was the one that was cut. Although it would be great to have all 'come visit'...
Difficult if there isn't any art for them or any abilities for them to have. I tried a google search from the Varakesh and only found one small picture of them.

It would be very difficult to have a map script make that, and even on a premade map it would be hard to get the AI to understand how to use a portal to move around the map.

The Star Trek Galaxy map includes actual Wormholes, but after 150 turns I've seen exactly ONE scout enter one.

Well, they are from MoO3...so IF you all decide to include some/all of them, I believe you all can take some liberties...

Well there's still six other MoO3 races that would more easily be put into the CivMoo than races that are barely mentioned. Expanding the MoO mythology is probably something a game company would find easier, although it's possible them might just chuck everything from MoO3. If someone was hired to continue the series they'd probably want someone who did not think well of MoO3 at all just to make sure it didn't go in the same direction. But I digress. You'd sooner see the Raas, Grendarl, Cynoid, Evon, Tachidi, and Nommo than three that weren't even in the game.

Given the different followings of MoO II and III, I think a MOO3Civ modmod would be in order for this.

That would make it the Fall Further of MOO2civ. Or CivMorion. But it's still civ so it would end up being the similar anyway. It already deviates because in MoO2, small ships were useless. A doomstar was six times the upkeep cost per turn of a frigate, but had 38 times the hits and 48 times the space. Smaller cheaper ships weren't really cheaper. However in MoO2civ there are destroyers and cruisers. Also in MoO3 ships were built with a specific purpose, like point defence and missile carrier, like destroyer and cruiser units in MoO2civ.

I'll trust you on that one. I never got very far with MoO III, as I found the gameplay rather static compared to MoO II and except the race and ship graphics found it a bit disappointing after MoO II, which I plaed fanatically for a while (as I did MoO).

I was wondering how the AI does with the current version of MOO2Civ...

When playing on Hard level with Aggressive AI (following the Hints On Play on the main DL Page), I'd say pretty good. I usually have to make an effort to end up top score. (The other day in a testgame as the Bulrathi I actually lost my homeworld to a Silcoid invasion; while being able to recapture it - I had only just founded my 1st colony -, it handicapped my game pretty bad.) They seem to hold up good in Multiplayer as well.

While load a moociv i got an error:
Load error. GFC Error: failed to initialize the primary control theme

content of ThemeParseLog.txt:
[Aug 01, 2009 - 11:05:44] Messages while processing 'BitmapTheme.thm'

**FATAL ERROR** Cannot open theme file 'BitmapTheme.thm'

i have a winxp, bts 3.19, while trying load a mod.
Mod installed by MOO2Civ_Patch_4i.exe installer plus moo2civ_patch4j.7z patch.
I dont do any modifications to files so its like a clean install.

Other mods work more or less fine.
Maybe someone know what is can be ?
Thanks.

At first glance I have no idea. To narrow it down a bit: does the fatal error occur after you installed patch4i or after 4j?

Yeah. Business throughout the Southeastern US. Internet access is variable around here...

Was wondering when the full install of 4j or 4k will be released?

GB

Sorry to hear about SE US internet access. There's some bugs that need work and some additions to be made; as Patch 4j simply installs on top of 4i, patch4k will likely not be a full install - patch 4l may be if no additional bugs/errors pop up.
