MOO2Civ

How is production on the next MoO mod patch coming?

Some Great Leaders perhaps? :)

With the appearance of recent bugs and errors I've become somewhat distracted from implementing new features, but I wanted to add TC01's wormhole modcomp as a standard feature.

I have finished the Darlok stealth code.
The way it works is any trait that gives more than a certain amount of espionage bonus (set by STEALTH_THRESHOLD in GlobalDefinesAlt.xml) activates the innate stealth code. I set it at 75 for no specific reason. There's also a field called DEFAULT_STEALTH in GlobalDefinesAlt.xml which sets the 'type' of stealth it gives. This is to identify what stealth detection type is needed to counter it.
When Darlok ships are in their own (or a teammates) territory they are visible. This is because undetected ships will never defend a tile, so colonies would be defenceless.
I've attached the new files. Everything should work, so try it out.

JEELEN,

I have two problems, and a possible solution to one of them.

First, your install executable wants to install to "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\MOO2Civ Patch4i" as a default. However that is not where my Civ4 directory is. I was eventually able to install the mod by manually adding in the directory, and good thing I looked closely, otherwise I was going to add it directly to my mod directory, not mod\*name* directory. That could have been messy.

If you can, you may want the installer to grab the information from the registry. I believe you can pull the CivIV installation directory from here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 - Beyond the Sword, string name: INSTALLDIR

Tack on \mod\*name* and you're good to go.

Second, after I have installed the mod, I try to load the mod, but I end up crashing to desktop. Is there a troubleshooting webpage you can point me to so I can attempt to solve this mystery?

Thank you.

Your 2 problems may be one and the same: most mods install to C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods. There are exceptions to this rule, but I install MOO2Civ there myself and it works OK. (If you install it manually elsewhere, this may explain your CTD.)

JEELEN,

I am sure my 1st problem is how I described it. Most people's BTS install directory is as you listed it, but there are some of us who have it different (as default) for whatever reason. If you can grab the directory from the registry those of us with different default BTS folders would greatly appreciate it.

My 2nd problem however was due to a funky BuG install. I forgot that installing BuG on the base Civ (as in not via an mod) causes problems in mods which use the Final Frontier setup.

Nevertheless, I was able to get it to work by uninstalling BTS, reinstalling BTS, patching up to 3.19, then reinstalling MOO2 Patchi, followed by Patchj. I'll have to figure out how to load BuG as an add-on at a later date.

Jeelen, maybe you should now use phungus modinstallscript.
It's not so hard, to figure out, how it works ;).

MOO2Civ uses an .exe launcher, at least patch 4i did.

I'm assuming it was phungus's...?

I used Installcreator.

@Kesshi: OK. You didn't mention BUG; while it has been requested to merge BUG as a standard feature, it's not high on my priority list right now to merge in mod(comp)s - other than Wormholes and Darlok Stealth, which are key features in MoO. I consider increasing the MoO feel of the mod my priority right now.

JEELEN,

I understand. I simply forgot that BuG and space-mods for Civ 4 weren't compatable. That was probably my fault.

Unfortunately, I cannot, for the life of me, get BuG to install as a separate mod. I've uninstalled and reinstalled BTS 5 or 6 times in the last two days and cannot figure out how to get BuG to not install itself over my core civ files. Ahh well, I'll stop pestering you with this issue and go ask them about it. :)
