More Central Powers?

So, Dachs, are you of the opinion that the British government was mostly looking to pick a fight (or to be more precise, was 'hijacked' by elements that were looking to pick a fight) with Germany? So in a sense one could say that they wanted war and they got it?
He's written a couple of articles on the subject, so yes, he's of that opinion. The British were on the verge of civil war over Irish Home Rule, and a war with Germany provided a nice distraction.

Didn't work so good in 1935.
What situation is that?

I know. I just wanted to be sure I drew the right conclusions.

I didn't realise the Ethiopians practiced slavery. Interesting.
Practiced and exported to the Arab world. Hoare tried using this to try and ply the liberals into signing his treaty and not, you know, screw everything up.

Well, the usual reason people give is that the Romanians saw the impressive initial successes of the Brusilov offensive and the almost total lack of Austro-Hungarian troops in Transylvania and figured that they might as well get in while the getting was good. Same reasoning as Bulgaria, really, except with obviously different specifics.

Even when the Offensive was stalled in early August?

Well, she could have played some role in making the decision, and (sexism alert  ) as a woman she surely didn't know squat about military matters, but then others should have.

She's worth her salt, when Romania was overran with CP troops, she, along with Military advisers planned the defense of Romania from a small triangular patch they still had which as a defensive strategy, was quite successful in holding down at least a million soldiers.

I would think she played a larger role. Ferdinand wasn't a strong ruler and as a Hohenzollern, had sentimental ties to Germany. His father Carol wanted to join the CP only to be stopped by the rest of Romania and was very pro-German, something which impacted Ferdinand.
I think that any military situation in Russia, wouldn't had convinced Ferdinand to take the plunge into war without the incredibly Pro-Entente Marie slowly coaxing him to burn the final bridge with Wilhem II even though Willie scratched his name out in that book. The Queen shares a bed with the King, something no politician can.
