More Civilisations

Chola had a formidable navy, so I assume those are for it (@AggressiveWimp: Chola used and perhaps incorporated as well the designs of 13th-century Junk Ships into their own navy, so it's a possibility). With the Chola in mind, I'm going to take a guess and say that the first one is a Thirisadai or a Yanthiram and the second one is a Vajara or a Dharani.

Great guess! :goodjob:

So, the first image is a Thirisadai, a sort of battleship the Chola Navy had. However, the unit itself its not called "Thirisadai", but rather Thalai-Thirvai (Thalai-Thirvai were sort of director-generals of the navy, controlling both economic and militaristic stuff of it)

As for the second, yeah, it looks like a Junk ship because the Chola did incorporate chinese designs into their navy. At one point I wanted to go and call it Vajara or Dharani, but since we're not so sure on how exactly those looked, we went with "Kadatpadai" instead.

Could you tell us what units they replace?

One replaces the Caravel, the other is a secret...

Oh, and here's another update on a completely different civ:

Any plans on an update to Kilwa? Their art doesn't match stylistically, in my opinion.

Honestly, the Kilwa graphics are pretty good (even the UU and UB ones). The only civ you list on the front page whose graphics kind of suck is the Garamantes (no offense to Tomatekh).

Okay, some more updates! It's guess the unit(s) time!

Speaking of Kilwa's graphics, though, does this mean we might finally get a unique ship graphic for them?

Something I noticed was the Kongo AI had the absolutely more bizarre behavior. All they did was expand like crazy. They did not build wonders. They did not really get a big army. They did not try to grow their cites at all. Kongo started on the west part of the continent, Brazil started east of them. Brazil went tall like they usually do. By the Mideval era, Brazil was surrounded by 10 cities with 1 to 4 pop. It was bizarre. Kongo settles cities and self destructed because they had no science.

I'll look into it, in all honesty I don't think the flavor values have been changed much since Cyon's original mod.

 In my defense, those graphics were made a long time ago...

We had much lower standards for mods back then

Basketball? That wasn't invented until fairly recently, surely?!
Oh no, it's an Ancient Greek sport. This is the Grand Basketball Court, which replaces the Heroic Epic. It'll spawn a Great Basketball Player every 20 turns (on standard). ;)

You can't fool me. The figures protrude outside the circle. So by all that its right and proper in Civ 5, this is a Unique Unit. Which means its the Most Valuable Player. Most likely a Great Merchant replacement. It can go to City-States and make money for you, but it can't build a customs house. Instead, it gets a unique ability "Win the Big Game" when in one of your cities, which generates a lot of money and starts a "We Love the King Day."

Well... Sukritact also makes some building icons go out the border, he's funny like that.

Which could mean that it is a Modern Era icon for a unit with cultural variation. The tunics make me think that it's a joke though...

A joke? Certainly not! It's obviously a reference to the famous Greek basketball team, the Athens Philosophers. During half-time, they get their mascots (two guys dressed as Plato and Aristotle) to play one-on-one trick basketball for the fans. Those two guys are kind of like the Greek version of the Harlem Globetrotters in the US. It's actually pretty fun to watch. If you can, try to track down one of the videos of them that pops up online from time to time. It might be hard to find because the team is Viacom-level strict about keeping their material off Youtube and the like.

From that description it sounds like a Great Admiral, but it has a military icon...

In any case it looks really cool, though.

So, the real question is whether or not this is the UU for Athens or the UU for the Minoans. If Athens, I'd say it's a Scholar; no idea who it'd replace, though it would definitely be a civilian unit (Great Scientist?). For the Minoans, however, I've no clue.

Seriously, I think it's a Great Philosopher unit for Athens, replacing either the Great Scientist or Great Prophet.
