Sometimes the most sound can come from the fewest people. What is/was your favorite trio. This can be Power Trio, or something a little more refined AKA jazz or perhaps some new style altogether.

Again, so as to not ruffle any feathers, I will not make a poll, but IF I DID....
Well I would probably include:

Nirvana
Cream
Jimi Hendrix Experience
or Band of Gypsies
RUSH
ZZ Top
Minutemen
Husker Du

for the sake of Jazz: Vince Guiraldi trio(all those Charlie Brown songs etc...)
Nat King Cole trio

Blues: Houndog Taylor and the House Rockers(obscure, but wickedly good)
Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble(before they added keys and sax)

There is also this weird trio called Morphine that is quite good, but hard to clasify.

And for those who hate anything that involves Satan, The Kingston Trio

And for those too old to rock and roll but too young to die there are:
Blue Cheer
Triumph

I know I am forgetting some, and probably should have forgot others, but what the heck.
:D

I'm gonna say Cream may have been the most talented trio until Rush came along. Nirvana may have been the most influential in the modern era.

Anyway, what are your favs?

Peter Paul and Mary may not be included on this thread:p :crazyeye:

I can't believe you don't have the Doors on there...

The Doors:
1. Densmore
2. Krieger
3. Manzarek
4. their singer

Sorry bud, 4 is not a trio:D

You are being sarcastic, aren't you?

:band:

I've always liked the Bee Gees (not their disco period, but the earlier songs)

Minutemen

Wow, haven't listened to any Mike Watt in a while. I have to see if I still have my old "3 Way Tie for Last" tape...I know I have some fIREHOSE ;)

Hate Eternal and Morbid Angel two of the most powerful death metal three-pieces around.

Also Macabre create one heck of an amazing sound,
despite the fact that there are only three of them!

Long live Rock and Roll!

:goodjob:

I think the gentleman was talking post-Morrison,
since the Doors are still active...now and then.

;)

I probably should have thrown Kings X in the mix too. They are pretty talented and on VH1's list of 100 greatest hard rock bands ever(for what its worth)

None :D

@ wildfire i agree with the green day as they rock, but blink can get abit annoying sometimes so i prefer boxcar racer. :)
yoy like them?

1. Richter, Oistrakh, and Rostropovich.
2. Beaux Arts Trio.
3. Borodin Trio.

Hmm, my answers are very different from the others.

Nirvana, hands down. There are many other good trios, though. Hate Eternal and Seether are my 2nd and 3rd picks.
