More Scandinavian music, please.

From Finland:

CMX - Progressive rock I guess. Great obscure poetic lyrics in Finnish. One of my favorite bands.
Uusi ihmiskunta, Minne paha haudattiin and Isohaara.

Maija Vilkkumaa - Leading female rocker in Finland.
Ingalsin Laura and Ei.

From Sweden:

The Project Hate MCMXCIX - Melodic (not melodeath though) death metal with... uh, healthy dose of antichristianity thrown in the mix :) They have one mp3 from their previous album on their homepage.
At the Entrance to Hell's Unholy Fire.

Therion - From death metal to opera metal these guys do it all. And they love choirs.
Asgård and To Mega Therion.

Lake of Tears - Gothic rock/metal but with a sound of their own. This video is obviously fan made but it fits well to music.
Forever Autumn

From Norway:

Emperor - The pinnacle of black metal and the greatest concentration of raw talent ever to form around that genre. They brough both progressive and symphonic to black metal.
Thus Spake the Nightspirit and With Strength I Burn.
Invocation from the vocalist/guitarist Ihsahn's new solo album.

1349 - Old school black metal done in the modern way.
Sculptor of Flesh

Octavia Sperati - An all girl gothic doom band. Personally I think their latest album is much better than rest of their stuff but couldn't find any songs from it yet.
Lifelines of Depths

Funnily most of the non-metal music I listen comes from outside of Scandinavia so these lists are even more dominated by metal than my usual playlists (Finland being the exception). And I simply didn't figure out a single Danish band that I listen (sorry Denmark  ).

Some nice bands in this thread. I too can recommend CMX and Kotiteollisuus, but I'm sure our Finnish posters know more about them than I do. Another nice band is Seerumi. :D

As to Norwegian bands I've listened to quite a lot of bands on the Duplex Records label.
Black Debbath - Plays very heavy metal with humourous lyrics.
Bare Egil Band - One of the guys from Debbath, singer/songwriter, funny lyrics.

Thulsa Doom - Started as a stoner rock band, now plays rock reminiscent of QOTSA. Very good.

Heard Sorkar & Strängar? Folkish tunes about wine, women, and song. Well, more like booze, women, and themselves, but that doesn't scan as well.

I don't think anyone mentioned Vintersorg? They sing both in English and Swedish.

Ah well, people have already posted The Knife, Sonata Arctica, Maija Vilkkumaa etc which I like, but here's some more from Fennoscandia. (I won't be telling much about the kind of music they play, since I don't know much about music genres or stuff like that, I just listen to music). These are from Finland:

Ultra Bra sings in Finnish. It was popular here in Finland in the 90s when the band was alive.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x7bCVeMghY
Verjnuarmu sings in a savonian dialect (Finnish) Some sort of folk metal, obviously. They currently have only one album, which is called Muanpiällinen Helevetti.

Stam1na sings in Finnish. They play trash/progressive metal. I don't listen to this myself, so I don't know about their albums.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTsGFIG2USA
Mokoma sings in Finnish. They play trash metal. I don't listen to this either, so I can't recommend any albums.

Maj Karma sings in Finnish. Maj Karma plays some sort of hard rock I guess. Sodankylä and Ukkonen are both pretty decent albums, personally I like Sodankylä more.

Zen Café sings in Finnish and plays rock. They have a collection album called Jättiläinen, it has all of their best/most renown songs, obviously.

Silentium sings in English and plays some gothic stuff. I only have their oldest album called Infinita Plango Vulnera, which has many good songs IMO.

Sentenced sings in English. The band is dead now, sadly.. I liked it when I was younger. Melodic death metal/hard rock. Their best album IMO is Down.

Wintersun sings in English. They play some sort of death/black metal. I haven't heard their newest album, so I'd say go for their album called Wintersun.

And one from Norway:
Mortiis nowadays sings in English, but he did sing in Norwegian during his first era, gosh I love Mortiis. He made ambient/darkwave music, but now with the band he industrial metal. The Smell of Rain is his/their best album, but I like the new industrial one and the older ambient ones too.

Edit: Oops, I almost forgot my favourite band of all time! Lake of Tears, which from Sweden, but sings in English though. Their music varies alot from album to album, I like Neonai and Forever Autumn the most. Here's a few of their masterpieces.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEcEjNsn1Io (Not their own video)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jWfhJRapu4 (Not their own video)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xB8PqHEEU8E (This is one of their own videos, and it is horrific at the least)

I just found out that José Gonzáles is in fact born in Sweden, albeit with Argentine parents, so check 'im out!

I've included him in my original post.

OMG! How could I forget Mortiis. Best gig I've ever been was Mortiis during the Smell of Rain tour. The albums are IMO just somewhere between mediocre and good but live the Norwegian troll just kicks ass.

You'll need some of these:

Opeth (Sweden). Progressive Metal. Perfect mixture of soft, hard, harsh vocals, and clear vocals.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=EpEw-UfLlkg (soft and clear)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=8UHqEi8rfJk (soft and clear)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=KFJ_rCY-2Uw (hard and harsh - dont mind the video)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=bzJBuDiGpLI (hard and harsh - dont mind the video)

Arcturus (Norway). Early stuff is black metal, but later stuff is avant-garde metal. Some songs are Norweigan, some are english.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=RNiEQCQw-kU (Norweigan)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Z1QW5ZDhLM8 (Norweigan)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glwwVKQqmVA (bad quality, but in english. Sorry I couldnt find a better version of this song I really like it.)

Warmen (Finland. No relation to my name). They like to do takes on classical music. The last song is a vocal song (their vocals arent very good usually).

More bands & music :) :

Poets of the Fall is IMO one of the best finnish rock bands of this century.

Old legendary finnish rock band Hurriganes!

Machinae Supremacy plays video game inspired metal. They are from Sweden. They have dozens of free songs on their website: http://www.machinaesupremacy.com/

And now the last but not the least (I guess...) TERÄSBETONI!!! They sing in finnish and they are inspired by Manowar.

You mean, "They sing in finnish and they shamesly rip off every riff and melody ever written by Manowar?" :p
