Most Gold?

Yes, that's one of my dream city isolated in the middle of no where. I normally have about a dozen of them like that just for fun.:)

2. 152 turns to build a police station ? That's darn long, no ?
Yes, this city is in the opposite site of the world. All I have to do is to disband 5 units of cavalries and the police station will be up running at no time.:) Since my my empire can produce at least a dozen new cavalries in every turn, I can afford to disband some of them to build new city.

3. How can you have 5 leaders at the same time ? I thought only one at a time was allowed ?
That's not my leaders! That's my armies in reserve. My definition of army in reserve is an army without any troop in it.;) If I need them, I will load the best of my fast unit into them. I'm currently have 7 other active armies in that games. Those 5 are just in reserve.;)

4. If you space 150 cities so they don't overlap, I guess you must play on Pangea, Huge, with a good deal of land percentage ?
That's one on a huge map of 4 major continents.

Moonsinger, do you name all your cities after yourself - or was this after you ran out of default names?
Yes, I'm running out of default city name and I'm running out of fantasy creature name (like dragon, unicorn, ....), so I'm using my name for that one.;)

Well, ok ! I will still have to try building 150 cities to see if gold comes in rushing... But for that I will wait the french version of 1.21f, and its corruption fix ;)

And i'm just thinking.. Instead of having just great leaders, what would be cool would be to have Great Builders.
Great Builders could be obtained by reaching a certain number of cities, or a city of a certain size ; only Great Builders could be used to rush a wonder, whereas Great Leaders would be the only one able to build an army.
And why not a Great Trader and a Great Worker ?
That would be fun, no ?

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind...

During the war, I use most of my gold to rush new units close to the front line. After the war, I allocate most of them to happiness. But most of the time, I have more gold than I know what to do with them. Gold is one thing I have never had problem with in any of my game.

In my current game, I'm playing France. It just around 10 B.C. and I'm really suprise to know that I'm making over 1000 golds each turn after I switch from Depotism to Republic.:) France is great! They seem to build market and bank really fast - probably because they are specialized in industrial and commence.

Are you an exception or are all the other players also making 1000+ per round ?

Is there a thread somewhere on money making ? (I would HATE to annoy you with my redunding questions ;) )

Making money is easy.;) This is how I do it (I'm sure many of you know this already):

  • If possible, use "slave" workers so that you don't have to pay upkeep.
  • Build the Smith Trading Company or take control of one already built so that you don't have to pay upkeep on market, bank, habor, and airports. Now, you can build market and bank in all cities and not to worry about paying for their upkeep.:)
  • Always put citizen to work on the square that produce the most food and gold. Focus on city growth!
  • If possible, try to relocate your palace and build a FP on a good spot to reduce corruption.
  • Build Wall Street wonder
  • Build road or railroad to increase food and comence
  • Acquire 8 luxuries resources
  • Make sure at least 90% of your people are happy. Happy people tend to be more productive.;)

Well, I'm doing pretty much that... I don't have slave workers because mine are faster, and I don't have 8 luxuries because the others CIVs won't trade it yet.
But I guess it is mainly a question of scale... My "empires" are most always around 25-30 cities. Hard to compete with 150 !

I see. If you have only 25-30 cities and have to keep a strong enough force. You would be lucky just to make 100 golds per turn in Democracy (which is what you said before).:D

Moonsinger is making 4000g/turn because he's playing on a huge map. You can NEVER make that much money per turn if you're on a standard size map. I've gotten up to 1200/turn on a standard size map once, and that was with the whole world under my control and in a democracy with all luxuries, running WLTKD, etc. If you want to play with huge numbers of anything (money, units, cities) then you should increase the map size; but I will never play a huge map because it would take too long for one game. That's why I was pretty impressed with having 52,000 gold on a standard map - and with only 5 cities too, no less!

YOU GUYS ARE POOR!!!!!!!

i hoard gold until i get 25,000-30,000 then rush EVERYTHING

My record is about 1300 gold per turn and I was ecstatic! I got my treasury up to about 80,000 on a large map.
