Mouse freezes in Civ5 (Win8)

I really hope that somebody can help me. After I bought a new computer with Windows 8 I haven't been able to play Civ 5 at all. The mouse freezes as soon as the game begins. Even though I don't have a touch screen, I'm using the touch enabled mode because the graphics are all messed up in the other start up options. I have an Nvidia GeForce GT 640 with the latest updates installed.

I'd really appreciate any help!!

I also have the same problem of mouse freezing while playing CivV on Win 8.
I have to unplug and plug again the device to USB port from time to time. It helps.

That doesn't work for me.
I think the problem lies with the touch screen features. Is it so that touch screen and mouse don't work simultaneously?
