Mouse sensitivity in games

Okay, I have this game which I have to use a mouse to control movements. However, in this game, the mouse is too sensitive. (It's one of those horse games and I end up going in circles trying to go left or right. I think it uses DirectX 9.)

Is there any way to reduce it in this single game? Thanks.

If the game is halfway decent it will have a mouse sensitivity setting somewhere in its options.

Nope. I checked.

In windows you can go to control panel > mouse > motion and adjust the speed there. It might still be as sensetive, but you should be able to set the acceleration to zero or very close to it so it moves slowly enough for you to respond in time.

What game is this by the way?

It's a game called Let's Ride: Riding Star or something like that. I don't really like violent games.

You'll have to change it in the windows control panel then, which will naturally affect everything, not just the game, unless you happen to have a mouse that lets you modify its sensitivity on the fly (pretty much on high-end gaming type mice have that).

My mouse is only a cheap 5-dollar thing. Thanks anyways. Maybe I could alt+tab out of the game to adjust it.

LOLWUT?

As I said, I don't like violent games. So don't make fun of me for my choice -- I do play a few more "hard-core" games such as Civ and SimCity 4.

*tries desperately to find a game devoid of violence in his collection*

Well there are a couple of win95 kids games I have, besides that, even Capture the Flag has violence (albeit hidden in a cloud of dust).

If I do find a neat realtively-nonviolent game I'll shoot a suggestion your way.

hmm, does terraforming and buldozing count as violence? If so, OpenTTD is out..

Peggle, audiosurf, guitar hero/rockband, tetris, chess, minesweeper...

So I guess puzzle games and music games are all you get if you don't like violence, and want to stick with games that don't suck. (And the odd adventure game, but I could probably count the number of good non-violent adventure games on one hand.)

Stay away from Peggle Extreme though, it's got a headcrab impaled by a unicorn.

Minesweeper is fairly violent. Then again, I do use the old soviet method of sending those who have betrayed the motherland across the minefield to redeem themselves in blood.
