Greetings everyone.

Civ 5 (BNW and GnK expansion) has been working find for me until last week.

I played it on my laptop screen for a change. That's when the yield icons of the fields as well as the wonder icons just hoped to the side for some odd reason and are now showing cuts of other icons too, or even a group of half cut of icons.

I first thought it's a resolution problem... but no mater what I did, nothing helped fixing it.
I went to delete the ini files, as well as all the safe files and reinstalled it twice.
Nothing what so ever happened.

I didn't change anything about my laptop nor did I get any new programs on it or something like that.

The whole thing doesn't make the game unplayable. but it just screws up half of the game >< also, since then I seem to experience lagged reactions when in the city screen.

Please someone help :please:

Sorry for the gravedig, but I have almost the exact same problem (plus some weird stuff going on with tile textures).

It's the same stuff wrong every time - many 2D images, mostly icons (though never promotion icons or the little unit portraits that appear when you select\build a unit, nor the building portraits), seem corrupted, like the files had a bit of a seizure or somebody ripped them up into halves or other bits and scattered them. For me, it's most noticeable with the yield icons. in the tech tree, or with various background images, like with Glaeder's game. I also have an issue where textures of tiles underneath resources and improvements (also along rivers, under cities, and along roads, although never under barbarian encampments or ruins) would become square shaped and a bit splotch of pink-white-grey resembling carpet in appearance. It never affects gameplay, but it's so incredibly ugly and annoying to look at I usually play in Strategic View even if the game is being exceptionally fast that session (for whatever cosmic reason) just so I don't have to look at it.

I'm guessing this is because my computer is so incredibly low-end. The poor thing can't even support DirectX 10 and tends to chug quite a bit when I try to play CiV on the lowest settings (I've begun using only Strategic View, it gets so bad sometimes, especially with lots of units running around). I don't quite understand how a suboptimal CPU and graphics card leads to these very specific things screwing up exactly the same way every time. But hey, what can I do?

I found a post on another forum, which I've since forgotten the name of, where a guy seemed to be having the exact same issues; people recommended pretty much every trick in the book and it was eventually declared that nothing short of getting of good gaming PC would fix it.

Does anybody know of a way to fix any of these issues that doesn't require one to upgrade their computer? Or have any ideas? I'm guessing the answer is going to be a resounding "no" and I'm going to have to start funneling funds into my secret Swiss bank account to get a much better computer.
