Here is a place where you can rate and review movies and give your opinion on if it was good and if others should see it. It would be a help to a lot of people who want to see a movie, but want to know if it is good or crappy first.

New on Video: (maybe I can save some people some money)

These are the last three I've seen.

Ghost Ship : The opening scene has to be one of the most gruesome things I have ever seen. It's haunting. The rest of the movie is not so scary. Acting and plot is average. My wife guessed the ending (even though it's not so plausible). Like most horror movies the leading lady is frustrating in what she does or doesn't do. One scene with nudity, low levels of obscenity, decent amount of violence and some creative death scenes. DVD comes with a good amount of extras. My Grade: C+

8 Mile : The Rocky for rap music. Kim Bassinger did a great job of acting as the trashy mother of Eminem. The rest were average to poor. The movie was depressing, and showed the pitiful existence and lack of morals of Detroits inner city. Not my kind of movie, but it was mildly interesting. One sex scene, no nudity, lots of foul language, mild violence, some drug use. Grade: C-

Maid in Manhatten : I was hoping for a romantic comedy. It wasn't funny or cute in my estimation. The story line was horrible, and the premise of the movie didn't make a lick of sense to what the characters did. I would go in more depth, but I don't want to be a spoiler. There were too many characters with out enough development. I was surprised that the politician character was a republican, but he's not someone conservatives can be particularly proud of. If you're looking for a date movie, look elsewhere. JLo is hot, but.... One sex scene, no nudity or bad language. Grade: D

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie - An excellent film. It is everything expected and more for a Cowboy Bebop fan. Cowboy Bebop fans will enjoy it, because it sticks to the Bebop formula without being stale. Even non-Bebop fans will probably enjoy it as well, if they can at least tolerate anime. It isn't much more violent than other animes and its plot is thick without being confusing. The action scenes are excellent and the character development is very good.

:D

Slap Shot: The movie
A lot of bad language and hockey! :goodjob: Good for the long winter nights and when you haven't seen a naked man on ice in a while.

Antitrust
Generally well done. Quality acting. Good plot.
Give it a 8.5 out of 10.

Gods and Generals
Good for Civil War buffs, but not for the average movie goer. Very long, almost unneedablely so. Not very objective, gives an overly romantic view of the rebels. Good acting.
Rating: 4

Daredevil
Overly flash. Many newer stars. Thin plot.
Rating: 3

America's Sweethearts
Very funny. Many wonderful actors. Good plot. Not for the overly macho.
Rating: 7

The Ring

Very original and creative corossover between horror and thriller... Well made, good acting, though not very scary. 7.5 out of 10...

Beavis and Butthead Do America: Haw Haw

The Great Escape: The best movie ever made, that Starred Steve McQueen.

I Shot Andy Warhol: Why not, it was amusing.

9 1/2 Weeks: Don't watch it with your parents.

Yeah, I took my daughters to see the Piglet Movie. Might be one of the best films made this year.

K-Pax

The movie where Kevin Spacey is an "alien" visiting earth.. Or is he? I highly recomend this movie to anybody who does not need their movies to be stuffed with action or special effects to be entertaining. The underlying theme of K-Pax is belief. Do you believe mr. Spacey is an alien or not? It has clearly conections to the atheist-believer discussion, without the plot actually being about that.

In this day and age where movies cost the same as the GNP of a small nation, this little gem was released almost unnoticed.

Momentum

Here is another great gem. It is a movie about a person who has a disorder that makes him lose his memories every 15 minutes. And this is especially troubleing when he at the same time is trying to solve the murder of his wife. He has to tatoo clues in his investigation to his body so he sees them when he "recovers". Half of the movie is shot in "backwrds" time, as in that it starts with the end. The other half is real time. You have to see it to understand it fully. It is a great movie, with a surprising end!

----

I have to admit that often my taste in movies goes outside the main stream. But I still think the best movies I have seen are american.

However, these are some of the movies I think is greatly overrated (Please, no lynch-mob. This is just my opinion, and arguments will not make me change my taste :) ):

Matrix, Lord of the rings (1 & 2), Saving Private Ryan, Titanic, The Rock, Mission Impossible (1 & 2), Star Wars (although I like the "Star Wars universe", but I think the plot is too clichè).. These are those I remember now.

Cool. I'd like to see that, with the exception of the naked man.:D

You shouldn't do that Wildfire444. I heard this is one of the stupidest movie ever. I saw bits and pieces of it and I have to say that what I saw didn't encourage me to see it.

On a different note: If you are a hockey fan you have to see Slap Shot. Paul Newman playing hockey!!! This pictures shows the worst side of the sport but it's hilarious!
