MP Game - RewriteHistory - 18civ EARTH map historical start position

Be nice to take it down at least for the long weekend. From early on the 24th until late the 28th?

I'll be out of town from the 27th through the 2nd. Not sure if I have Internet access available, so I can queue if I need to. A few days off would help a lot.

Taking the game down for crimbo is fine by me. say 24th to 26th. I can still play if the game stays up.

Also i will get the hardware bits i need to get my old machine running in the january sales. then i can start hosting again. and thanks whiplash for your efforts to keep the game going. :goodjob:

Hi everybody!
I'm very sorry, but my DSL-connection was completely down for the last 8 days (btw my phone did not work either). I could not play and I even could not let you know about this problem. NOw it is ok again but I see you played quite a few turns. I know it does not make much sense for me to continue, but I'd like to try. No objections ?

Are you available to play from the 24th on? While others are off enjoying the holiday I could keep the game up with a very short timer to allow you to catch up on turns then take it down until, say, Jan 2.

I'm fine with game running or going on hold!

Despot of Ottomans wishes all nations nice and peaceful end-of-the-year holidays no matter where you are or what your religion might be! :snowlaugh:

Yes it is definitely possible. If it could be done, it would be the best solution for me. Sorry again for that fallout, I even could not let you know.

It's now up with a 1 hour timer.

I don't understand what you are doing for blwww. How can he play the turns he missed without the rest of us also playing them?

exactly.. the other 17 of us are just missing a bunch of turns...

Game needs to be reloaded back to 930AD (and probably taken down for the weekend)

I agree, Blww hasn't even been able to take advantage of this run of turns so it would be best to reload when everyone can participate on Jan 2.

I logged in to stop pesky pillaging barbarians from having a field day near my capital (and because I'm a civ addict!).

Sorry, I mistakenly pressed "post".
I agree with the others. I see now it does not work and the players are not in the equal rank. I'm asking Whip to return game to the 930AD.

Merry Christmas!

:D

So does anyone have any clue as to when the game will restart from 930AD?

BTW, I've solved my system stability problems so we won't be having anywhere near as much reloads due to crashes.

What I was experiencing was that during sessions of BtS, single player, the system would lock up and immediate reloads would get me the Blue Screen of Death. Doing an XP system repair still got me the BSoD. I was kinda puzzled on how a crash of the game could corrupt the Operating System. After several such episodes with a fresh install of the OS and fresh install of BTS the problem continued.

After a while I noticed that the exhaust fan on the power supply was pumping some pretty hot air. The back of the power supply also felt pretty warm to the touch, so I figured the power supply was faulty and was overheating, wrong! Under that presumption I purchased and installed a 600 watt power supply; but alas the problem continued.

After installing the new power supply I left the side panel of the case off of the machine. I stuck my fingers in the guts of the machine during BtS, single player, sessions and noticed that the graphics card is what was overheating. This was a top-of-line nVidia card when I bought the system last March; but it seems that BtS is so graphics intensive that it "stresses out" the graphics card, even when cranking down the resolution with the game option. The fan on the card and the other three fans were all working OK. That hot air blowing out of the power supply fan was actually coming from the graphics card.

I now have the side panel off of the case with a desk-top room fan blowing directly onto the card, and everything is now cool.
