You can do this by looking at the Downloads page. Their is alink just above this thread to the downloads and then just look for Civ4 patches and updates and you get the right file for BTS 3.17

Weird, i could connect just fine with him in the game...

Its a non-hamachi game (or is now since we swapped hosts), which means a firewall/router issue by either player could prevent a connection.
