MP7 - War Mongols

Pre-turn – I prevent Kazan from starving.

IBT – Xerxes asks us to leave. 2 Keshiks are lost from Mayan counterattacks.
Maya begin Bach’s.

460 (1) – Take Lagartero with 1 loss.
Investigate Sardis (Persian). A pike and a spear, building Sistine’s. Investigate Ghulaman (Persian)–2 more spears, building harbor. Meh, our rep’s already trashed, so I redeclare. Capture Sardis without loss. Drop off 2 more Keshiks in Sardis.
Destroy Bukhara (Arab) and destroy a galley.
Capture Isin and 121 gold and destroy the Sumerians.
Upgrade a cat and 7 spears, and 11 warriors, leaving us with 182 gold, down from over 2000 (what else are we going to use the money for?).

IBT – Hittites refuse to renew the Arabian alliance. Hittites and Mayans sign a MA against us…Well, guess we’ll be going through them after all.
Lagartero is recaptured (I knew it would be, so I brought up a bunch of Keshiks right next to it).

470 (2) – WW is starting to build up. 6 cities are unhappy. Upgrade another spear (2 left).
…OK…my mouse just stopped working…and only for Civ III. Still works everywhere else. I restart the game, and it works now. Whatever!

Retake Lagartero and raze it.
Lose a Keshik and redline all armies except for one taking Quirigua. I’m going to risk keeping this for two turns to fully heal all the armies. Pillage the Mayan’s iron. Oh, they have another. Cover it with Keshiks.

IBT – Antioch flips to Persia. We lose 1 musket. Some cities riot, save others by scrolling ahead…wonder why they rioted…Sardis deposes! Damn. Lost 4 healing Keshiks. Quirigua doesn’t flip, though, and ends its resistance.

480 (3) – 30 cities are unhappy. Lower Sci 10% (still due in 5) and raise Lux, but about half the cities still need a clown or two (or three).

Double . Quiriqua has more than a 50% chance to flip…I evacuate the city and abandon it.

Arabs will give Mansura, 26 gold, and 5 gpt for peace…looking around, I can’t even find Mansura. Shift+L reveals that we have not found it. Well, when we do make peace, make sure to get Mansura.

Capture and raze Yaxchilan. Take 1 loss capturing Palenque (capital). Raze it. Retake Sardica. Raze it.

Pop rush a settler from Pisae.

IBT – A Hittite longbow dies attacking a Keshik on a mountain.

490 (4) – Capture Ankuwa (Hittite). Capture Tikal (Mayan capital), but I decide not to
raze it, since I should be able to kill off the Mayans next turn.
Switch a couple builds to settlers to fill in the gap where Bad-tibira was.

500 (5) – Awesome, no flips! :D
Found Ondorhaan.
Lose at least 4 Keshiks, but capture Calakmul and 162 gold, and destroy the Mayans.
Lose an Elite Keshik, but get another and retake Antioch.
Auto-raze Ghulaman and finally I get a leader in this game. Also, the Persians are dead.
Kill a Hittite musket/settler group.

We now have plenty of happy citizens with those two guys dead. Lux can be brought to 0% again, and all clowns and most taxmen can be fired (the only ones left are ones that have no tiles left to work, or the city is so corrupted that they help more as being taxmen).

Chemistry due next turn.

There are 2 settlers by Lagash heading towards the open area. The 2 Persian settlers have not been moved yet. I’m not sure if we want to settle on spot (doubt it) or move them north more to the LARGE open area.

3 Armies are healing in Samaria (should be healed next turn). The other is in Tikal. The leader is on a galley south of the Persian island. It’s not an army yet, so try not to use too many Elites until it becomes one. Or we could rush the Pentagon with him.

There are several Keshiks fortified in Ankuwa. Should we head straight for Mecca for the ToA or take out the Hittites first? If we head towards Mecca, should we take out any other cities along the way?

We have 35% land and 73% pop, btw. Arabia's Mansura is somewhere out there. Whether the island is rather large or a 1-tiler, we don't know. I have a feeling it's rather large, though, since we don't even have half the land yet, although from the looks of the minimap, we should be right around 50% (maybe a little lower, but not 15% lower).

that looks more than half... once we get some more cities in there to close the cultural gaps we'll have alot of land covered

Looks good. I have got it, and I will get to it tonight or tomorrow morning.

I just realized that IP only took 5 turns. I am not sure if he meant to only take 5 turns, or if he is planning to do the other 5 later or what. So I will wait a while to play the turns and see what IP says about only having taken 5 turns.

I only meant to play 5 turns. They took like over 2 hours just for them. :crazyeye: You can play, Yaype.
 I actually opened it up, saw that there were lots of decisions to be made soon and after realizing the year was an odd year, I decided that I should check with you first, just in case you wanted to make those decisions (so I didn't have to :p ).

Ok, this is my second "I got it," and this time I really will play it.

:bump: Do you have it, Yaype? If the turns are taking awhile, quit MMing. I gave up MMing this game a long time ago as it is already won. My turn took 30-40 minutes, I think.

Sorry. I am trying to get to it, but if my turns are not up by 8:30 PM GMT or so, then just skip me.

Sounds like a 7 pages thread, so I'll spam in and say congrats !

Hey, I just got called into RL for this afternoon, so I am not going to be able to do my turns until at least this evening. So to prevent everybody from waiting even more for me, how about a swap? I do not recall who is after me, but if he/she wants to switch turns with me, that would be great.

That's cool. Coolio, can you get it?

- CoolioVonHoolio - up

I don't think Coolio has played any of his games for awhile. If Coolio or Yaype don't play today (Sunday), dl123654 is up.

I can get to it now. I will play some turns today. Turns will be up in a few hours.

After a long wait, here are the turns for 500-600 AD finally.

Pre-turn: Ok, I guess I have a few moves to take care of from the last turn before I start with my turns. There are two settlers to move, and I send them to two spots where they can claim the most possible land. At this point, they do not need to be productive--just take up space.

IT: Chemistry discovered. Max science on Metallurgy - 9 turns @ +17 gpt (I guess this is the advantage of having little to no improvements).

510 AD (1): Man, there are a lot of units. Forgive me if I do not make all the best decisions with movement and such. At this point, it is just about getting all these Keshiks to the front lines and taking over more cities. After moving masses of workers with little idea of what to do with them (seeing as most of the cities out here are never going to be productive), I start toying with the idea of automating workers. But NO! I cannot!
As if I want more units to control, I go around and wake up some fortified units that may once having been serving an MP purpose, but are now just sitting there.

520 AD (2): I look at the F8 screen and laugh when I see that we only have 38% of the land mass. Talk about not using the space we are in control of!
Adana falls.

530 AD (3): So many workers!!! I have had more units in a game than this, but rarely are they in so many places at the same time. I am used to being able to move stacks at the same time, and moving so many units one by one is quite the chore.

540 AD (4): Harran falls with the loss of one Keshik.
Tarsus falls with the loss of one Keshik.

IT: Arabs finish Sistine.

550 AD (5): Hattusha falls with the loss of one Keshik. A pattern is emerging...
Tyrana falls. It took two turns, and I do not remember if we lost any units.

IT: First time any of our units get attacked during my turns. Three LBs die to Keshiks.
Hittites think they're sneaky, landing a settler pair behind the frontlines. That city will cease to exist shortly after it is settled.

560 AD (6): Yamama falls.

570 AD (7): Kadesh falls.
Hattusas proves exceedingly difficult, but after killing three Keshiks and red-lining many more, the city falls to an army. Hanging Gardens are in our possession.

IT: The masses celebrate the capture of the Hanging Gardens.

580 AD (8): Science down to 60% in preparation for Metallurgy coming in two turns.
My luck with creating MGLs in this game continues--two are created by two elites attacking one after the other. Both create new Keshik armies.
Aleppo, despite having two elite musketmen and being on a hill, only manages to red-line one elite Keshik and is destroyed rather quietly.

IT: Yet another LB loses to a Keshik on the defensive.

590 AD (9): Khurasan falls. Hittites should be gone next turn.
I take that back. I push things a little bit, and Ugarit falls, taking the Hittites out of the game. Now only the Arabs remain.

IT: Back to max science on Mil. Tra. after Metallurgy comes in. We finally lose a Keshik on defense to an Ancient Cav, but not before killing yet another LB on defense.

600 AD (10): Talk about an annoying Ancient Cav. After being red-lined killing our Keshik (and promoting afterwards), he proceeds to hold off not one, but two attacking Keshiks before succumbing to the third.
Najran falls. I hold onto it for the moment, because it has KT in it. It has a high flip risk if you look at where it is, but the next person can decide whether to abandon it or not. Just be careful--there is an army in it at the moment (four armies brought it down).

Summary: Lots of :hammer:, and the game is nearly complete. The next person up should be able to get very close to destroying the Arabs, what with the huge advantage in numbers and the various armies we have at the front. :D

(Note: There are at least 7 armies in the mix there--not sure how many, really.)

600 AD

Good work. I thought we'd never get those turns done.

Now, do we just want to go for a Conquest victory instead of Domination? If we still want Dom, next person should head straight for Mecca and capture the ToA. If we can hold onto it for...5 turns? I think...all the expansions should win the game.

Just for the record, I played those turns like we were going for conquest (i.e. I razed every city I captured with the exception of Hattusas and Ugarit--and Ugarit only because it was the last Hittite city). So while I alone do not decide, we are further from domination now than we were before my turns. :p

Looks like we are going for conquest now, good work too. :goodjob: dl123654 is up and may be able to finish us off. Raze everything and try not to lose armies.

Roster
- MeteorPunch - on deck?
- IroquoisPlisken
- CoolioVonHoolio - been absent from SGs
- Yaype - just played
- dl123654 - up

Well, if we are going for Conquest, I suggest we make peace with Arabia to get that city we haven't found yet (started with an M...). Then declare right after, if everyone's ok with that.
