Sorry, guys, I'm going to have to drop. It took me a week to get my internet back up at home, and RL is pretty busy for me. GL.

Start off by founding Neapolis with the settler. It's so happy that the suspense is finally over (how many days did they have to wait? :lol: ) that it graciously starts a worker for us.

All the MM looks well done to me, so time to take the plunge.

IBT - Russian Warrior comes into view from the northwest.

1) 975BC
Catarina gets a buzz. We want her writing, but she won't give it to us for 51g. This can only incur the wrath of the Roman armies and we vow to see her capital burned for this insult. Granted, we'd see it burned anyway, but having an excuse is always nice.

2) 950BC
Nada

3) 925BC
Our cat bombs the russian warrior and an archer takes him down.

IBT
Veii: Settler->Archer
Cumae: Barracks->Archer

4) 900BC
Nada II: The Slumbering

IBT
Berlin: Worker->Catapult

5) 875BC
I risk a peak over the nearest mountain. Don't see anything, which is what I wanted to see.

IBT
Antium: Archer->Archer

6) 850BC
Settler founds Pompeii on Mathias' location next to the iron. It begins a worker.
I'm going to mine the gold hill by Rome. When Rome hits pop 5 next turn I'm going to have it work a forest to slow growth and speed up SoZ.

IBT
Learn Polytheism. Monarchy is next.

7) 825BC
Nada III: We have Nada III!

8) 800BC
Orange borders spotted to the east of Berlin. No contact yet, and hopefully none before I can run back.

9) 775BC
We have furs just south of Pompeii. Isn't that luxury #4? :D

IBT
Neapolis: Worker->Cat

10) 750BC

Nothing from the Russians since we massacred their warrior. Guess that taught em, huh? :lol: No contact at all to the east, and let's hope it stays like that for a while longer.

Not much else to think of. Next city should be either Mathias' #2 or #3 in the western dotmap. It'll be nice when we get all those luxuries hooked up.

I'm gonna delay the 2 archer builds for legions, not to use them, but just to have them built.

Maya build the Pyramids.

Russia builds the Oracle...for us to capture.

Cumae builds Granary.

- Cumae can be our settler building city now.
- We need a total of 5 more cities to complete Mathias' dotmaps. We should build these and no more other than captured cities.
- We have Legions and 4 turns until Monarchy. Make due with archers for now and wait until we have revolted and are actually in Monarchy before starting the GA.
- I wouldn't even think about marketplaces, temples, libraries, and aquaducts. We can just capture luxuries and connect them to our empire for happiness.
- SoZ in 2 turns :D

IT: English Settler/Warrior

390 BC (8)
England has 7 cities in addition to their capital. They have Writing, Horseback Riding, and Construction. They don't give in to extortion, so we renegotiate peace. They don't like that idea either, so we're at war.
IT: English found Oxford

370 BC (9)
AC destroys Oxford and is promoted
Colony on furs

350 BC (10)
Step to mountains in north to see where Russia might be, and find Mayan Settler/Spearman instead. They have 10 cities total, are equal in tech with England, won't give us writing, and aren't interested in continued peace.
Pisae founded >> Catapult

I switched Rome and Cumae to settlers this turn. Rome could build the legionary instead, but Cumae should stay on settler. I fortified the spearman and three archers west of Berlin. The English city to the west is on a hill, so I don't think we should throw archers at it right away. Hastings is also on hills. Legionaries and catapults are heading there. This IT: Wines connected, another AC in Rome, and we become a Monarchy.

Done :hammer:

Met India, bought Map Making. Started Golden Age.
Knocked out three enemy settlers, started the slaves roading back towards Rome - because all roads must lead to Rome!

As for the rest... well a picture tells a thousand words. This is what I did:
MP8_eldar_150BC.jpg

It gets better! The English very kindly built something for us just before I captured London:
MP8_eldar_london.jpg

The city building the settler (Cumae, I think) is on a 4-turn cycle in the Golden Age. Just MM turn one to work the fish, and the rest takes care of itself.

We're not really researching Philosophy, are we?
