MTDG3 Warmup Game 2 (w/Double Turn mod)

I know 2 guys who may be interested yo join and I can be convinced too if it is really small map (like space for 5 cities each civ) to encourage conflicts and actually test the functionality of the mod.

Any word from these guys, 2metra? :) And do you want to join yourself as well? We should finish up and get this thing running asap, since the progress of the MTDG is going faster and faster now. :)

excuse me there is an xml file that affects the speed of research in the WebMod1_0 (Spanish Forum played with small changes in that aspect)
tomorrow I will post a clean version

Ah, good to hear you spotted that. Would you please post in the thread when you have the new version ready, so I can download that instead? :)

Hi folks. Not sure if you're looking for more players or not, and I've never even heard of MTDG games before today, but I was referred to this thread by a fellow pitboss player while we were looking for solutions to double turn exploits and lo and behold, a beta mod is about to be tested! So if you're in need of more players, sign me up! If not, I look forward to the results (or perhaps I'll run my own test).

Just from reading the thread though, I'm not sure why difficulty setting is pertinent to a test run. wouldn't you want it to be easy so that you could get to the juicy parts faster? OH well, I'm a noob in these forums, but I've been playing (and also hosted) pitboss games for a couple years now

Peace

You are more than welcome to join, so I have added you to the list of players :goodjob:

I'm in, if the settings are fast and fierce: Little room, Pangea, No pauses and 11h turn timer that I presume will increase to 22h after war declarations.

That's the plan indeed. I will generate a map ans check that It's one big landmass etc since I'm not playing. Should I attempt to balance it somewhat?

the turn lenght is always the same to all players.
When are at war the two players have both x hours (or what you put in turn length)

Ok, officially put me down as playing too. The other game I was actively playing has just ended and I suppose I may as well start another quick one.

It's been a very long time since I've installed a MOD of any time, so if someone can post detailed instructions on how to install it and get it going (I really don't feel like having to Google around for it), that would be appreciated.

Also, if someone can remind me how to make a desktop shortcut icon that will launch the game directly into the MOD (and skipping the splash screens) and with the appropriate IP address details overwriting what may have been there from going into a different game, that would also be appreciated. I remember having been able to do that previously for ease of logging into multiple different pitboss games, but don't remember how to do it.

Is everyone comfortable with 12 hours per turn in peace time, 24 hour in war time? I would prefer this time setting myself.

Little room, Pangaea, no player pauses (I can pause the game in case of a crisis of some sort like server updates etc, but otherwise the game should keep running) sounds just like what I intended with this game.

And guys.. I need your feedback on this, and the map question I asked above. Otherwise I'll just make an "admin"-decision to get this thing going already. :D

I'm not fussed about the map balance or that one should log in every turn. This is supposed to be a test to the mod. Just allocate the leaders and put the game up ;).

Less than 24 hours? Phew! I'm used to having at least 22 hours pitboss time (I believe that's what equals 24 hours real time). But, since this is just a test game, I'm up for 12 hours and if I miss a turn no biggy. :)

And yeah, the main thing here is to get this test going, so I say just go ahead and generate a random pangaea. :)

12 Hour turns sounds great, means things will actually happen in reasonable time. Don't really care about the map.

Okay, great - I'm going to round up this today and set up the PB then. So this is a final rolecall: Does anyone else want to join, please state so today, or you'll be left out.

With 7 (or 8) players, as we want conflicts, I am leaning towards using a small map with low sea level, or possibly a standard if people want some more elbowroom - pangaea of course. Small map means very tight placement, somewhere around 3-5 cities per player max before conflict is inevitable. Does that sound good, or do you want me to use a standard map? I will go with the majority decision based on what you guys respond to this today. :)

I vote small.:crazyeye:

I still need someone to explain to me how to install the mod, and create a desktop shortcut to launch it automatically with all the necessary IP info and all that. I remember something about needing to make a .ini file or something but have no recollection at all of the specifics.

I need someone - anyone - to connect to 178.17.156.11:2058 and see if they are able to connect. :) No mods or anything installed at the moment, just basic BTS with latest patch. It's just to test that the ALTROOT thing works as intended.

I'd prefer Standard, High sea level over Small, low sea. Also, Pangaea with natural shoreline is my strong preference.

May I recommend no password on the server? It's not really necessary since every player/team will put their own password on their civ. It's just a needless hassle IMO.

Agreed :)

Edit: Apologies, I am agreeing to the password. The map thing is up to you guys to make a decision on. I am but your humble servant, but will of course just make a decision if you can't reach an agreement of course. ;)

3-5 cities as a goal would had to be something like Small/High. I do think that is a bit too small so I would vote for Small/Low. Standard/high is ok too.

Caledron I think you could make the desicions here. I don't think the settings are very important in a test game.
