Multiplayer Balance

rofl? some people are ********

bug/

if your playing a team game and one player selects a barbarian trait, all the members on that team are at peace with barbs, very powerful, only the civ with the trait should be at peace imo

The problem with the scouts is imagine them to be like gunships in civ4, super high movement but can't capture cities, thats to prevent people from moving way into the backline and taking out a city that has 1 warrior or less for defense.
Would you like to lose a game because you moved your warrior to grab a hut and then somebodys scout on your border captures your capital the next turn?

And onedreamer just because its also a singleplayer issue doesn't mean it doesn't effect multiplayer just as much or even more because your in a game with evenly matched humans instead of braindead AI so every little advantage helps

Maybe you shouldn't move your warriors out of your cities, eh? After all, that's why you get two startup units in FfH as opposed to the one in vanilla Civ.

Is it really that much trouble to make a 1 strength scout not able to capture cities tho?

No, I'm sure it's easy. But why take away the option? You have to assess the risk involved in moving away both your starting units before building a replacement. If you think you can get away with it and see a payoff near by, you can risk it. Otherwise keep one unit at home.

The Skull Cats will be weaker next version, though.

Did I say those reported are NOT multiplayer issues ? Nope. Did I say that all of those reported issues are also singleplayer issues and not just multiplayer ? Yes. Why the hell did I do it ? Let's see. Because I'm ******** ? No. Because most people play turn based strategy game in singleplayer and mod makers focus and balance their work especially on SP ? Yes.
Opening a thread with this title was wrong, not to mention that the staff has kindly opened a thread called "balance suggestions" and kindly asked to use that rather than spreading suggestions all around the forum and repeating half of them over and over.

Yep. Especially those who don't learn from their errors and keep playing Civ4 with teams. Or those that consider "rofl" a question.

LOL... well don't cry too soon. Weaker doesn't mean too weak ;)

According to the changlog, the skull cats are now 5/3.

I'm trying to host a pitboss game on my pc. I get an incomplete list of civs available in the player setup; it's the same list that's located on the wiki, but it's truncated at the Clan of Embers, so I can't assign most of the evil races to a specific player position. Does anyone else have this problem?

I think it's a problem with the pitboss server program only being able to display a limited number of races. I seem to remember it being possible to join the pre-game lobby while setting up a pitboss game, you might be able to pick the races from there.

i'm still in agreement that goodie hut techs need to be toned down. A little bit of advantage through luck is fun in multiplayer, but if your opponent pops something like bronzeworking it's game over already- where's the fun in that? ATM they decide early game dominance a little too much for my liking.
