Me and my friend Chris play Civilization every weekend at his house, I also own it but something strnage keeps happening. Every time I play agianst him I end up losing or he ends up with myriads of technologies ahead of me and I always have to end up paying him off to stay alive. It's wierd I'll be richer, larger, and have a superior military but he will still have way more points and be further in technology.

When I ask why he replies "I'n researching the right techs" or "I'll tell you if you give me gold." it's starting to get really annoying and I'm not sure what to do. Do any of you know whats going on because I would like to win for once, I'm not new to the game either i've been playing since the first civ came out. Any advice or help would be much appreciated.

Uh, that's not enough for us to know what's wrong. Just one thing: if you're ahead in military power screw technology, just go wipe him out. Why would you wait?! If you say you're both richer and larger he's either growing his cities more than you, or specializing them better, or you really are going all over the place in the research tree. Simply put, it shouldn't happen. Try to give us a few examples of games, images with the tech gap, views inside your cities, power graph, land view, etc.
