HX: Hello again. This is Hungao Xing for the TV 7 News. Our latest news in titles are:
Interview of the Leader of the Communist Party, Mr. Jung Jiao-long (JJ):
New History Textbooks for Public Schools writen by Linhuan Sin
HX: Hello Mr. Jung Jiao-long.
JJ: Hello.
HX: My first question is, what do you think of the rise of popularity of the Republican Party?
JJ: I am not surprised. They are populists and their platform is populist. We in the Communist Party do not like this kind of populism. We prefer to tell to the people practical policies of how the Empire will create a peacefull international enviroment and how the Workers will become free from the slavery of the Plutocracy.
HX: My second question is, what foreign policy do you support.
JJ: Better relations with Socialist, Communists and third world states. Also peaceful relations with the Union. We support internationalism.
HX: What about the eonomy?
JJ: We support the creation of state owned Industry. That will allow our economy to become more eficient and China will become a powerhouse. The living proofs that our policy will work are the economical statistics of Christos Communist China compared to the Capitalist Economy of the Emprie now.
HX: What is your view about Christos?
JJ: He was a visionary leader. He made China a superpower. Without him, there would be no King George the Great. But anyway, the Communist Party looks at the past only to show that the economic policy that we propose will work. We do not want an one party state.
HX: Why do you think that the people support more radical parties instead of you?
JJ: Because those radical parties are populist and say what the people want to hear. We say what we think that it will benefit the Empire.
HX: What about the ethnic minorities, mainly the Demons?
JJ: This is one of the few fields in which we can say that the Democrats succeed. The current Autonomus Provinces are very good and we do not think of any new policy. Also we call the Demon Workers to unite with us.
HX: A political Analyst said yesterday that you are the least populist party and that your policies are clear compared to the policies of other parties. What do you have to say?
JJ: What can I say? I will let the people to judge if what the analyst said is true. In my opinion however, I think that we do whatever we can to have a clear policy and party platform. We also do not support any form of populism.
HX: What about the Army?
JJ: Although I am a supporter of peace and want to have good relations to the Union, I am also realistic and understand that in order to have the other countries to respect our sovereignty, we have to create a strong army that will protect the Empire. But this army will always be a defensive force.
HX: We thank you for coming here.
JJ: I thank you too.

Chapter 4: The Economic and Foreign Policies of Christos
What we will learn in this Chapter:
- The Tax Raise and the Communist Economy
- The creation of a strong industry
- The Foreign Policy of Christos
- How China becomes a superpower
After Christos took power in China and created an one party Communist State, he begun a new economic policy, the Chinese Communist Policy. This policy led to a growth of industry and made China a superpower. First, Christos raised taxes. The new Tax Rate was 45%. Although 45% was a high tax rate, Christos offered welfare to his citizens.
With the money from the taxes, Christos developed a large Industry and that led to a strong economy. The new Industry was the largest in the world and China at that time was the richest state in the World. Trade flourished in China and that led to an increase of the Military power of China.
Christos Foreign policy was:
- The building of closer ties with Communist States
- A cold War against Hawaii
- A rejection of the Human Rights UN resolution
At first, he had China to join the Comintern. Hawaii also begun a policy of aggression against China, by abusing the rights of ethnic Chinese in Hawaii and trying to intervene in Chinese politics. This escalated to War two times, but no real battle was fought.
In order to counter the Hawaii threat, Christos begun a Nuclear Weapons Project and enlarged the army with new Units. After 4 years of Development, China created Nukes, while Christos encouraged Chinese citizens to join the army.
With his new powers, he was able to defy and reject the UN Human Rights resolution that passed thanks to Hawaii and would give Hawaii a Casus Belli against China.
With this combination of Economic Growth and Military Might, and with many Communist Allies, China became the superpower of the World, having the largest Army, Air Force and Economy in the World
However, the rise of taxes, along with diplomatic isolation would lead to revolts against the Regime. We will see that in the next chapter.
Unknown words: Casus Belli = Reason for a State to go at war with an other State.
Questions for Homework:
- What was the economical policy of Premier Christos and how this led to the creation of a strong industry?
- What was the Foreign Policy of China at that time?
- Why do you think China became a Superpower in that Age?
- What is the conection between the Economic Growth and the creation of a Strong Army?
