Mump3 - AWDG Standard Pangaea, take 4

I on the other hand have no time at all until 9/7. I'll probably start another game then if there's interest. I'll try to propose some ideas on that in this thread.

I'd also like to make an evaluation of this game. If I find some time to review the replay and other interesting stuff about this game, I'll try to put something together.

But like I said, I don't really have time for that. This game finished just in time for me.

In any case, I think we can already say that this wasn't too bad a game. :)

September 7, sounds good. I'm entering High school, I'll probably want to test the waters there before committing to an SG.

Will it be an AW one? I though of a pretty cool (and possibly impossible) non AW variant. I've got an AWS island game as the byz in the bag (eliminated three civs, only need to kill three more on two islands to reach domination) but I had to make use of the "poof" too much. That meant baiting huge amounts of AI defenders away from cities, razing it, eliminating all cities, then watch all their stacks of hundreds go "poof." I was thinking it might be fun to try a sid island game with the goal being domination/conquest, but all AI units on their main island (the one their capital was built on) must be destroyed before we can eliminate them. It would be non AW but I've come to the conclusion that playing sid islands like AW isn't a variant, it's optimal strategy. We could probably do that to one or two civs, but seven before an SS is launched? Funnel of doom and huge arty stacks would be necessary. The japanese would be fun with samurais, but getting the glib (a necessity IMO, trading/2fering would speed the tech pace too much) would be too hard without starting with alphabet.

There's a good chance this game is impossible, but it would be fun to try. Anway, just throwing that out there, no need to pay any heed :) .

Woops, I forgot to format the date correctly: I meant 7/9 (9th of July) :)

Silly Americans who always want to do stuff the other way around... :mischief:

Although your idea for a game could probably be nice, I'm not sure if I would want to play that. Like you said, we'd need huge arty stacks and such, and would have to kill many many hundreds of units. I don't think I could handle the physical strain. I remember Handy saying he would never again try what he did in Theo's AWS adventure, because it could lead to carpal tunnel and angry wife syndrome. In fact, when I just checked I noticed he said this in reaction to a question you asked

July 9th hmm... that's crap as I will be civ deprived not long after that. Week long SG? 10 minute got it, 15 minutes to play?

I understand completely, that would be a helluva challenge to the carpal tunnel. I might try that in a solo, as it would be very interesting. You would have to do things like investigate cities prewar to locate their stacks, then pillage specific roads to control stacks so they won't combine when going through the funnel. That makes bite size pieces that artillery and spare units/ armies can blow to smitherines.

I can probably play a turnset or two, so I have mild interest in the next game. AWDG large continents or pangaea are certainly options, but too similar to the game we just played. AWD tiny pan, small pan, or small continents would be good.
