Music

Apologies, I didn't realize that there already was an active thread about this! Zero-project has some of the best game soundtracks I've found on the internet. In Santorini, The Great Spirit, Celtic Dream, Land of Legends, and Warrior's Honor seem perfect for the Prehistoric era, and Escape sounds like it would fit nicely in the Modern. In Albums/Autumn prelude, Nocturne and Eternity would be incredible to hear in the Galactic era.

Take music from other mods. RFC Europe has some of the most amazing soundtracks I've heard in a game, but they are sometimes too Europe themed (church music and ballads). Still, it's worth looking at.

Uh, I also think that this fits quite well for the ancient era. That's all I can think of right now. Personally, I use tracks from Europa Universalis III and Europa Barbarorum, but I don't think that those would be ok to use "officially."

I already hear a metric ton of bird sounds when the music ain't playing; I'd rather avoid that if at all possible, though I can tolerate a few with those elements in the Prehistoric.

I really need to get around to finishing that chart I was going to make of my complete playlist. Would give people good pointers as to the theme I'm going for and where to find them...

I will gladly take a look. The Music Pack would be a separate install so Strategy Only doesn't complain about the size. The songs would have to be audited first for quality.

Are you talking literal quality or artistic quality? I'm no expert on fixing the former and anyone with half a brain can detect problems in it, but I wouldn't mind being a consultant on the latter; I'm so selective with these things I'm almost OCD about it.

I was was referring to "is the music a good fit for the game" quality.

Correct! Infact i want to reduce the current sounds by over half now, and as you suggest, make them as an additional sound/music just like FfH did.

I've checked Santorini and Great Spirit. My sense of taste says, it is rather not music for a strategy game. I can match it more with some adventure game.

I meant the songs were in the album Santorini, not the song specifically. :mischief:

I personally find them completely immersive for the prehistoric era. If you disagree, I don't mind (because I can keep a custom file myself), but you should look at the songs for other eras as well. They don't sound much off base from the type of music found in those particular eras anyway, so I think they'd be less controversial.

Thoughts?
