Well, what do you guys do when your dog(s) get(s) sick? My dog has been barfing and won't eat or drink anything. Her nose is warm and dry and she can barely lift her head. She is a miniature schnauzer, she's not even a year old yet :(

Help!

Shoot it.

Oh no wait - possibly take it to the vet first

I mean why is this thread here??? - What you doing on the computer when you should be phoning a vet

My vet is only reachable 9-7:30 MST. It's 11 now. I would take it to an animal hospital but they would most likely tell me to make sure she drinks a lot and send me home because I can't pay expensive fees. Last time I took a dog in to a hospital I left 1500$ later.

Wait for the vet. to get to his office. Go see the vet, and stop asking questions no one without professional training can answer on a FORUM!

Don't waste it!
Eat it!

Nice sensitive answers.

Take him to the ASPCA, they will help the dog even though you don't have the money.

She MAY have swallowed something, like a shard of bone, etc. which is causing these symptoms. Does her breathing sound whistley? Try to look down her throat (flashlight helps). If you see anything stuck there, at least you'll be sure of the cause!

Otherwise:
I can't guess what started this, but...

Sounds like she's dehydrated, which can eventually kill her. If she's hot enough to pant, try to find a cooler spot for her. And really coax with the water. Maybe a spoon. A bit of sugar in it is fine. Offer her favorite or regular food, too, but it's really the water she needs most.

If her breathing becomes shallow and rapid, and her body temperature drops, then she's likely going into dehydration shock, and needs fluid by I.V. very soon.

You and your dog are both mammals, so I'm sure you know she needs your affection, also.

oh poor dog gonzo i had a dog a little puppy and the next day he died
i suggest take good care for your dog.he is one of the only friends who will never betray you....

Vet - and now you have to let us know how it turned out, I'm worried about her.

Well, I've decided to not go to the vet as she is running around happily now. Sean Lindstrom's suggestion appears correct, as I gave her some ice cubes and she was o.k. after a few hours. That's too bad about your puppy philippe. Jason, AoA, Sean, Phillipe: Thanks for the suggestions/concern.

plomeros, socialist pig, sh3kel, graeme: :p

Awww. I would have sacrificed the dog to the God of Cheesecake and tasty desserts. Oh well. Congrads on your dog getting better. :D

Glad to hear your puppy is better. Make sure she/he is up to date on all shots. Its painful to lose a pet, worse if you could have prevented it.

Glad its okay - least its not a cat

Yikes! I posted to this thread earlier and it got deleted!! That's odd, I also had 1093 posts and have 1092(1093 after this post) now. I was just sayng that I need to get it's shots done.

THanks for being glad graeme. I don't like cats :)

Again thank you to philippe for your concern. Well, I got to go tell my dog to stop rolling over. This stupid commercial comes on and says roll over and she keeps rolling over

I gotta work with that dog......
