My first attempt at a succession game -- American Chieftan

or not.....

every time i try to load it, it opens to about 51% (no more no less every time) and gives me these errors in the following order:

DataIO operation System Error: CULT
DataIO operation System Error: ESPN
DataIO operation System Error: ESPN
DataIO operation System Error: LEAD

Then the game freezes. I dont know what those errors are and why they have such strange names but I need to know how to fix it so I can play the game :aargh::aargh3:

Hmm, I just downloaded it and tried it. Works perfectly for me, you are using the 1.17f patch, right?

K well its done but I wont be able to play tonight cause of Homework.

So its open for someone to take a shot

NO ONE QUESTIONS THE WAYS OF:king: THE INFAMOUS POPS! :king: err, except you aparently... Well since THE INFAMOUS POPS can never make mistakes, the space must of been put there by some one jealous of my perfectness!

Just getting this thread noticed again. I was going to take a turn but I have to get work done :(

I'll try to open it w/ the patch now. Probably post it sometime tommorrow

well my 20 turns went faster than I thought they would so here it is...I didnt like it :(

Preturn) Still lots and LOTS of jungle to clear.....

390 BC - New york builds worker and starts on Granary. Worker Movements.

360 BC - Influcence expands in New York. Micromanage Tenochtilan so it can grow. Worker starts road to inscense

330 BC - Hrmm...Tenochtilan's only citizen is rioting.......so THATS why he was an entertainer.......So I raised Entertainment up to 10% and Science up to 60%. Moved workers to Jungle spot lowering it from 20 turns to 4.

300 BC - Entertainment didn't help at all....Tenochtilan almost connected to New York by road

270 BC - *yawn*

250 BC - Boston hit by barb but our spearman kills him.

230 BC - *yawn*

210 BC - New POPS completes a temple and starts granary. We learn construction and start on Currency (eta 8 turns)

190 BC - *yawn*

170 BC - *yawn*

150 BC - *yawn*

130 BC - New POPS Expands. I spot a barb in Boston's territory. This is the point where I see how pathetic our army is

110 BC - *yawn*

90 BC - *yawn*

70 BC - *yawn*

50 BC - Currency Discovered, look into Polytheism (only one I could choose)

30 BC - *yawn*

10 BC - Bosting starts an archer(forgot to write what it completed)

10 AD - Liz demands literature and seeng that our army consists of 1 warrior, 3 spearman, and 2 swordsman....not to mention a few workers, I am obliged to give it to her....we'll get her one of these days.

30 AD - *yawn*

I didn't start any settlers like I thought I would but I did work on a 'little' military. I think the goals for the next leader are workers to clear that monster of a jungle in our borders and military so we stop getting pushed around.

gl next leader

last bump to get it noticed before I just let it sink into the sediments

I'll play now unless theres a complaint.;)

Turn 1: Discover Feudalism, enter new age, add front to palace.:goodjob: Change new POPS to City of Farts, then change production to Settler. Thats a baaad spot where it is.
Turn 2: Farts is abandoned to a settler, who moves up to grab the whale.
Turn 3: Found Philadelphia, start building temple. We start mining near Boston.
Turn 4: STart some jungle clearing. Finish Tenochbarracks, start Tenochtemple.
Turn 5: More jungle clearing. Spot a Chinook horseman near Boston.
Turn 6: More jungle clearing.
Turn 7: NY builds Swordsman, starts settler.
Hiawatha offer world map for our world map and Polytheism. Go stuff a totempole up your @$$.
We swap territory maps.
Turns 8, 9, 10, 11: Nothing.
Turn 12: We discover Feudalism. Start Monotheism. Boston builds Swordsman, start on Sun Tzus.
Turn 13: NY builds settler, starts pyramids. DONT BUILD- this is placeholder for SISTINE CHAPEL. We add a second storey to the palace.
Turn 14: moved settler upwards...
Turn 15: moved the settler into position...
Turn 16: Houston, we have- Houston? Houston? Are you there? *houston has vanished in a puff of logic* Is this the wrong number? *telephone disappears since it isnt invented yet* Aww, alright. *starts yelling* We have founded Atlanta!:goodjob:
Turn 17:Nothing.
Turn 18: We hear of a massive barbarian uprising near TenochTitlan. :(
Turn 19: Nothing.
germany wants to talk. He thinks his worldmap is worth our world map and literature and 7 gold per turn. Go and report for duty as Panzer ammunition, you blockhead:king: . We buy his world map for 29 gold.
Turn 20: Disperse some Zapotecs and spot a barb warrior stack of like 10 or so near Titochtenlan.:( . Repeat- pyramids are placeholder for sistine chapel. Improve the land there a lot- that city could easily get 15 shields a turn.

Got it. Taking some turns...

Then i'll do My book report...i swear I'll do it after this 1 game...really....

Dont look at me like that!! MY BOOK REPORT WILL BE DONE!!!! :mwaha:

Preturn -- Note that Tenochitlan is no longer rioting thank god. This civ will have a formidable army if it kills me (and that it may). My goal for 20 turns is to get a better military and worker force.

350AD - Oi...that stack of 9 barbs near Tenochitlan is scaring me....they in a mountain so thats a defensive bonus if I decide to attack them. We start studying chivalry eta 10.

360AD - Ha! and I was worried about those barbs. Our swordsman made short work of them and went elite in the process...no Great Leader though...The Great Library is completed in Washington. Now I don't know if this is right, but I lowered science to 10% as I've seen other succession games do.

370AD - Barbs attack Boston but are killed. Teno..whatever starts a worker. I rename it to Diamond city cause it has diamonds....pretty nifty, huh.

380AD - Nuttin'

390AD - Barbs at Boston die

400AD - More barbs die at boston, New york expands

410AD - Only 1 more Barb at Boston

420AD - GL not giving us anything so I raise science to 50% and change to Theology (whoops forgot bout the sistene chapel) its due in 12 turns. Next guy might want to put us on a deficit for a short time so we get theology done before Pyramids get done (about 30 on those)

430 - 450AD - Nuttin'

460AD - Washington completes Pikeman and starts on Great Wall...those barbs are getting annoying so Great Wall should minimize the threat. Philly completes temple and starts on worker

470-480AD - Nuttin

490AD - Liz wants to trade Territory Maps..sure, why not. Uh oh, Barb Horsey sees our unarmed worker building a road in the wilderness. I send a Pikeman to protect our dear worker. Diamond City completes Swordsman and starts worker.

500AD - Our Brave Pikeman is now guarding our worker with his life

510AD - Philly expands and now all our borders are as 1. DOH!! Barb goes for a different worker when he sees our Pikeman  .
Philly finishes a worker and starts a Galley

520AD - Diamond City finishes worker and starts a Swordsman

530-540AD - Nuttin

Notes for next leader, up science to as high as you can go so we get Theology done before Pyramids. Work on Military some more as well as workers. Dont cancel the Great wall please, it keeps the Barbs down.

Alright, I played it. I tried to increase our borders and kept the wonders going. Looks like we are in a good position. Notes to next Leader: keep building the wonders as well as the settlers. Keep building commerce up as well. Try to get on the good side of the other cvs as well. I will check back on this game, and see if I can play again

540 AD - Switched production of Boston to marketplace from Sun Tzu’s Art of War. Plan on using Boston as a production zone for settlers and workers.

550 AD – Moved worker two spaces to the northwest. Began to irrigate the land. Moved pikeman one space north to attack the barbarians. Began researching engineering. Boston begins producing settler

560 AD – Washington defended from barbarian attack. Pikeman defeated barbarian horseman. “We love the President Day” celebrated in Washington.

570 AD – Worker moved one space southeast and began irrigating. Hoping to get to Atlanta to increase population. Pikeman sent northeast to invade barbarian camp.

580 AD - Worker begins to build road. Silk colony established by worker. Iroquois city is formed. We really need to expand our borders.

590 AD – “We Love the President Day” has ended in Washington. Two workers begin to mine.

600 AD – Spearman defends Washington from barbarian attack. More territory near Atlanta is irrigated. Worker begins mining near Philadelphia.

610 AD – Borders expand near Boston and settler produced. Settler is sent to the east.

620 AD – Diamond city produces swordsman. Production of settler begins. Pikeman attacks a group of two barbarians. Kills one. Worker moves southeast in order to build road. Swordsman is fortified in diamond city, we really have more military than we need! Traded Hiawatha from the Iroquois Feudalism for a world map, 1 gold per turn, and 90 gold. Traded the Aztecs currency 10 gold for currency. Gave them our world map for free in order to try to make them not “Furious”

630 AD – Pikeman defeats barbarian and is now elite. Road begins to be built by worker.

640 AD – Pikeman defeats barbarian camp and gains 25 gold. Settler is in position to build new city.

650 AD – Pikeman begins to be moved to new city in order to be fortified in it. I believe that our military is too strong. One or two units per city is fine. Just an opinion. Jungle town is formed and begins work on a temple.

660 AD – We trade Hiawatha world maps. Engineering has been researched, and Invention begins to be researched. Philadelphia produces a galley, which will go to make contact with the Egyptians. Philadelphia begins work on barracks. Workers begin mining near New York and Philadelphia to increase production.

670 AD – Boston produces a settler, which will move to the east as well. Begins producing another settler. Looks like we will need one more settler to finish settling the east. Galley moves further north, and establishes contact with the Egyptian sea coast. However, no city or units are visible.

680 AD – Temple produced in Atlanta. Barracks begin to be produced. The worker is moved to the southeast in order to find more gems from diamond city. Worker moves east near New York in order to build another mine on a hill. Galley is moved east along the Egyptian seacoast, but still no contact.

690 AD – Assumption about the Civ from the North being the Egyptians in the North is wrong. They actually call themselves the Zulus. Shaka from the Zulus offers to trade world maps. We accept, and also trade Philosophy, Code of Laws, and Construction for 85 gold.

700 AD – Settler is produced in Diamond City and work on another Settler begins. We trade our new friend Shaka Contact with the Aztecs and Iroquois for Contact with the Romans. We trade world maps with the weak Romans. Settler is moved to the southeast of Diamond City to establish one near a river. Worker is moved to make a road to the new planned city as well as a swordsman from Diamond City. Pikeman fortified in Jungle Town. Worker near New York begins on a road.

710 AD – Shaka complains about a galley near one of his cities. He becomes annoyed. Fallston is formed, and work on a temple begins. A spearman from Washington travels to Fallston in order to fortify it. Our galley defeats a barbarian ship losing one point, but becoming a veteran.

720 AD - Spearman fortified in Fallston. Aztecs offer to trade world maps. We accept.

730 AD – Worker begins on yet another mine. Galley moves further north. Baltimore is formed southeast of Diamond City and Swordsman is fortified in it. Worker begins to irrigate.

740 AD - Caesar becomes annoyed because of our galley. We move our galley northeast.

EDIT: Deleted attachment to save space on TF's hard drive (Problems with forum crashing)

Why didn't you stay with Theology for science, we need to get the Sistine Chapel before the Pyramids are done (unless you did get it and I missed it in the reading ;))

I got it. will post shortly THEN I will finish my 3/4 finished Book Report!!

I just though that I would post a screenshot of the last game for others who want to play.

I hope that I uploaded it right

Preturn - Switch Pyramids to Sistene chapel as planned. Sistene done in 23 turns.

President Ihmotep ascends the throne.

750AD - 2 men in Boston decide to found a new city for the good of the nation and set out on a Journey towards Montezuma's old land to lay claim to it. a sailor runs, breathless, to tell us that he escaped our galley just before it went down in a treacherous storm. Ihmotep sees that we have an excess of 8 gold per turn so he allocates it to the Science fund.

760AD - Our great thinkers in the Library come upon an ancient book that describes a form of government in which 1 king rules a nation instead of representatives and presidents. Ihmotep decides for the best of the people to stay with Republic. New Patent offices are flooded as our great scientists learn of Invention. Ihmotep orders the study of a weapon that can explode in one's face doing excessive damage. He shall call it gun-powder

770AD - The Great Wall of America is completed in Washington!! lets see those Barbarians climb up THAT thing.[dance]

780AD - The royal dog catches cold and is given chicken soup

790AD - Philidelphia or 'Philly' as some of the commoners are beginning to call it, completes army Barracks for training our regular men and making them Veterans! Plans for a city Granary are compiled

800AD - Another Worker is hired from Diamond City. A horseman is to be trained next

810AD - Oh you love me! You really love me! aww those 4 pillars on my palace look great...you didn't have to..thanks :D. Not only that, but Washington's borders expand!

820AD - Atlanta completes their army barracks now as well. A swordsman is to be trained in them to serve the royal army

830AD - Much Praise! Chicago is founded and its first task is to train a Spearman to protect them.

840AD - The Circus goes through town and people get funny shaped balloons.

850AD - The people have fun playing with their funny shaped balloons

860AD - Boston starts building a catapult that shall launch rocks in the faces of our enemies! *Gasp* Horror!!! The English took our spot for the next city!!! They shall pay dearly for this attrocity !!!

870AD - Gunpowder has been discovered at the loss of one of our clumsier scientist's hands, but ah well. We shall study into Chivalry next

880AD - A royal Ping Pong tournament

890AD - Barbarians attack Jungle Town but are fended off easily by our loyal Pikeman who suffers nary a scratch.

900AD - 'Die England' is founded on the opposite coast and its angry citizens start to build a Barracks to show they mean business. This city effectively separates Brighton from its mother country and leaves it open for cultural flipping. Ihmotep promises himself to start a temple there when the royal barracks are completed.

910AD - The puny Zulu complete the Pyramids...pffft..who needs the pyramids anyway

920AD - Boston finishes its grand Catapult and tests it by catapulting the village idiot into the woods. they swear the range wasn't set that far.

930AD - yet another worker hired out of Diamond City which starts training a Pikeman right away

940AD - Ihmotep's last act as president was to get the nation out of a -5 per turn debt by lowering the Entertainment. He was then promptly shot by an unemployed actor.

Notes for next ruler: get a temple in 'Die England' so we can flip Brighton. Try hard to get those wines near Monty's borders. Get Sun Tzu's art of war in one of the cities...Barracks in all the cities is a good advantage
