(My first SG)For newbies

I started Sun Tzu for a pre-build for Leo's if we would perfer that.
I Don't think Sun Tzu is all that great for a small island like ours.
Let the Disscussion begin.

Double Check how long PT is going for with Egypt It might have a few turns left (your Turn 5 or 6).
(F4 to Talk with the Civ. Propose Deal. Click on Active Button to see Current Deals)
They are on another Island. So go ahead and pop them quickly they will bring over a few units by boat but nothing to worry about.
Declare war First outside there Territory then move in for the kill.

Atlanta is in the First ring of the Core. So a Libary there is fine, Plus it is on a river.

Building Cats. I think we have plenty now. We can't push them into Aztec Land with out a road to much jungle.
And Cleo on another island and we are not ready for an invasion yet.

We most certainly could use more workers.

Another Disscussion Topic where is the FP going?
We can disscuss that after GoodSmell has a set so he knows how the Empire has shaped up.

You can check active trades by contacting that civ, then click "we wish to propose a deal" then, at the bottom of the diplomacy window, below the "will you accept" and "never mind", there are buttons that say "New" "Active" and something else. Anyway, click on active and you can view active trades.

9 turns left on the peace treaty. I'm going to delay the war.

Edit: A few more turns are complete!

============================

IBT:

Philly riots, sigh. A turn ago they were happy.

Turn 7 (420AD):

Prevented a riot in Dallas!

IBT:

Denver: Settler->Worker

Turn 8 (430AD):

Roads now connect Arctic Dye and the rest of the empire. MM on many towns to take advantage of that.

IBT:

Seattle: Marketplace->Worker
French start Sun Tzu's

Turn 9 (440AD):

Zzzz...

IBT:

Zzzzz....

Turn 10 (450AD):

Sci slider to 30%, Engineering in 1 turn!
Riot prevention in Springfield.

IBT:

We have Engineering! Sci slider adjusted, Invention in 16 turns without deficit spending.
Seattle: Marketplace->Courthouse

Turn 11 (460AD):

Russia is broke.
England will pay 74gp and WM for Engineering. I'm tempted to take the deal on this one.
Egypt will offer spices, 49gp, and WM for Engineering or Monotheism. I'm very tempted by the spices.
France only has 10gp and WM for Engineering. Not really worth it.
Germany will pay 66gp, 2gpt, and WM for Engineering. Tempting.
Aztecs will offer 13gp and WM in exchange for Republic, Monarchy, or any of our MA techs.

I'm kind of on the fence - is this series of trades worth it, or should we try to hold on to our (tiny) tech lead?

I think I would hold out a turn. If it Cheapens in price pull the trigger on England and Germany.
I think it means they are reasearching it also. If it does not get cheaper I think they are reasearching Theolgy. The Ai seems to love that Tech alot. So holding out Might be better for trading for that Tech.

With the Third Lux in place we should be able to handle happiness with the slider pretty well now. PLUS there is a future War to consider with Eygpt. So I would not trade with them.

On another Note.
Future war with Monty.
I just noticed from Elephantium post that he does not have Monarchy or Republic.
I would trade that to him just before we start a War and he will be fighting in Anarchy.

EDIT:
OOPS I forgot he is religious so forget what I just said. :hammer2:

What we're going to aim on in the tech tree ?
I think we can go through 'down-way' straight to Cavalary, but I got to say that I would like if we'll have the Smith Trading, from Economics tech , one of my fav GW's .

about the trades, do what JJJSpider said . and about the war with Egypt, don't forget to secure every city near the Coast. I think I'll do that on my turnset, but you've to becarefull too .

Elephantium, you played already 11 turns, should'nt it be 10 ?

Trade with Germany before England- they have more to offer.
Don't trade with Egypt- we can just grab those spices in the war.
Don't trade with France, Aztecs, or Russia- nothing to trade.
Note:
According to Elphantium's set, the Peace Treaty will expire on his Turn 15. Knowing AI, Egypt will ask for it to be renewed. Decline, and Presto! We're at war.

Based on thread discussion, I moved five Horsemen out of Ft. Azteca to strengthen our soon-to-be front with Egypt.

Trades are waiting a turn.

IBT:

Philly: Marketplace->Barracks (8 turns; Courthouse was my other thought, but it looks like we'll need the vet unit production sooner than Sun Tzu's will complete...even if we don't switch it to Leo's)
Springfield: Galley->Barracks (40 turns - switch if we get Sun Tzu's)

Turn 12 (470AD):

New trade prices offered for Engineering!
Russia - broke
England - WM, 1gpt, 87g
Egypt - Spices, WM, 56g (probably researching Monotheism, didn't offer Spices for that tech)
France - WM, 11g. Sigh.
Germany - WM, 2gpt, 77g.
Aztecs - WM, 19g.

Prices are going up! Looks like the limiting factor is available gold. I'm going to hold off on trades for now.

Changed Arctic Dye to Barracks to avoid wasting shields.

IBT:

Chicago: Marketplace->Barracks (7 turns)
Road completed to Malinalco - we can start our conquest of the Aztecs at any time!

Turn 13 (480AD):

England and Germany have much-diminished treasuries since last turn. Sigh. It's definitely worth waiting for Theology now.

IBT:

Boston: Marketplace->Swordsman
Buffalo: Marketplace->Barracks
St. Louis riots due to growth :(

Turn 14 (490AD):

Whaling Village founded on the island to our northwest. Making Temple for expansion.

IBT:

Miami: Courthouse->Barracks

Turn 15 (500AD):

So far, zzz...

One more question - should we establish embassies with the rest of our rivals?

Embassies are probably a yes. Oh, and BTW to those who did not know (Elephantium), there's an option in "preferences" that says "always wait at end of turn". When it's on, instead of going ahead into the IBT whenever your turn ends, it will wait for you to hit enter. This option is enabled in most SG's, including this one, so that the next player doesn't have to move any units on Turn 0. ;)

Roster:
goodsmell: UP
choxorn: On deck
TripleJ
Elpehantium: Just Played

got it i'll play as soon as I feel better :) Just woke

I did'nt understand about Philly , should it keep production on Sun tzu war ? personally I think that's waste to research it on Continents game .

goodsmell: There was some talk about Sun Tzu being a prebuild for Leo's Workshop. Personally, I think using it that way is a fine idea.

D'Artagnan: If the others have no reservations, I think it would work just fine for you to join.

Yes, you can join, D'artagnan.
Roster:
goodsmell: UP
choxorn: On deck
TripleJ
Elephantium: Just Played
D'artagnan

Pre-Turn ;
I realize washington is building Sun Tzu War, and since I saw no answer on my question I'll use it as a prebuild for Leonardo's Workship
I also realize 'Fort Azteca' building useless Marketplace, it would help us only with unhappy citizens but not with money since Fort Azteca only has 1gpt ( 50%) .
so we'll have no benefit from Marketplace, I switch it to barracks.
so much unroaded tiles. Atlanta switched from Library to rax.

T1. Detroit: marketplace--> Walls ( I'm sorry if you hate my different production way but I think cities like that should be protected )
I rush for pikeman in Swamp Horse for cheap, I just can't trust on Unoffensive actions from Egypt, and also in Denver.

T2. Aztecs want to have a worldmaps deal and I decline, I don't want them to see other nations because we still can trade some Communications to them.
damn I'm sorry for bad managing but Philadelphia Rioting, 9sized city ! GREAT !
but the only thing I did is changing the Scientist to Entertainment

T3.bad news: the turn I planned to declare war on Egypt, the return the loose sword back to home. so to prevent loses, I send a pike there to be sure for non-losing occupacy.
I'm transporting about 4 'pults to westCoast from FortAzteca.
I'm not moving all units from Aztec-American border to egypt-American border because when we'll learn Gunpowder and we won't have Saltpeter and Aztec will, we will have to declare war on them if we don't want to pay them.
otherwise, Muskets will be unneccessary and we'll quickly pass to IA .

IBT: Egypt try to prevent a war by sending our troops home, unfortunately she has a war with us :)
my strat worked out, the foolish egyptian sword loses to our pike.

T4.I already forgot the name of that city, but it has been razed!
Unfortunately we lost our reg sword, they'd 2 spears there.

LosAngels: rush Temple for 128gold, I want have our Continent filled with our Territory :)

T5.Asyut founded on the small Island with 'Whaling Village' I can do nothing only to rush a Spear.

T6.New Orleans: Marketplace --> Library . ( we want our science extremley Rushing don't we? )
Palance expanding...zzz..
T7.Just thought about Philly and changed to Library, this city extremley good city.
lux slider to 20%, don't forget we're on Republic and we declared war ! we must finish it .

T8. ...

T9. NY finises Market--> Lib
Atlanta Pike --> lib

T10.cities finish build markets & pikes.

notes for next player :
Finish that war as soon as Egypt accept have a talk !!! because if we'll keep this war in this goverment we'll have more problems to face with our Empire. but in conquering that Territory remains Egypt scared-furious :)
*I think Sun Tzu War is waste of shield and opportunities . this is absolutely right to use it as a pre-build for Leonardo's workship

since I did'nt post the SAVE , and this doubled post is a spam .. here is teh SAVE :

Got it. Don't worry, it's not spam, goodsmell- lots of people do that (look through this thread, and you'll see JJJ doing it all the time)

Okay, I finished the set. Here it is:

Pre-Turn (580 AD):
-I look at our Empire. It is a bit bigger than the last time I saw it. Everything looks good, but then I notice Los Angelos. It would be in a better location on the hill two tiles away. So, I switch it to settler. I will set it to abandon as soon as it grows to size 2.
-I look at other nations. OMG, Germany has 7 furs in its territory- and it only has 8 cities! :eek: :wow:
-Also, there are 5 gold tiles in the center of the onther contient!
-Check diplmoacy. Strangely, just like in Turn 11 of Elephantium's set, the Aztecs don't have Republic, Monarchy, or any of the first-tier MA techs.
-Egypt still won't talk.
-I trade France Engineering and 111 gold for Chivalry. Of course, this means they'll trade Engineering to the other civs on the other continent. So I trade it first. I get 93 gold and a few WM's in return.
-I now establish embassies with the other continent civs. This costed 274 gold. There was nothing interesting in any of the capitals, unless you count all 4 civs doing 40% research creepy. Well, then again, Paris was pretty powerful for an early middle ages city:
Paris.JPG

IBT:
-Boston: Sword->Sword
-Buffalo: rax->pike

Turn 1 (590 AD):
zzz

IBT:
-We get Invention: Set research to Gunpowder. Due in 14 at 40%.
-Baltimore: rax->pike
-Ft. Azteca: rax->sword
-Fro Toe culture flips to Egypt

Turn 2 (600 AD):
-Cleo will talk peace now. She'll give us 5gpt, 32 gold, and Egypt's WM for Peace. Now, after I take Fro Toe back, I'll see what she'll give us.
-I attack Fro Toe with a Horse, but the spearman defending Fro Toe retreats it without a scratch.

IBT:
-Seattle: Courthouse->Pike

Turn 3 (610 AD):
-The invincible spearman retreats another horse (and yes, without a scratch).
-Galley attacks Egyptian Galley and loses. (0-1)
-LA is at size 2 and is already starving. I rush that Settler for 40 gold.

IBT:
-Chicago: Pike->Knight
-Miami: rax->pike
-Domestic advisor asks me if I want to abandon LA to allow Settler to appear. I say Yes.

Turn 4 (620 AD):
zzz

IBT:
-Egypt requests an audience. They will now give 1gpt, 66 gold, and their WM. No, sorry, not enough.

Turn 5 (630 AD):
-I attack the invincible Fro Toe spearman with a sword this time. This time, the sword wins without a scratch and promotes to elite but what's this? Another spearman? (1-1)

IBT:
-Boston: Sword->Knight
-Philly riots. I give it a TC.
-Seattle: Pike->Knight
-Detroit: Pike->Knight
-Cincinatti: Market->Pike

Turn 6 (640 AD):
-Oops, I never switched washington to Leo's. I will do that now.
-The Sword attacks the second spear, wins, retakes Fro Toe.
-Egypt will give 1gpt, 30 gold, and their WM for peace. What the heck, I'll take it.
-refound LA
-Upgrade 7 Horseman to Knights (No, I could not wait the 16 turns until Leo's complete's)

IBT:
-Order restored in Philly
-Miami: Pike->Knight
-Palace expansion. I notice there have been 3 since my last set. I give us a right wing.

Turn 7 (650 AD):
zzz

IBT:
-Philly: Library
-Steely Dan: Temple->rax
-Buffalo: Pike->Walls
-Dallas riots. I get this strange DA message telling me this:
Strange_DACD_message.JPG

Anyway, I give it a taxman.

Turn 8 (660 AD):
zzz

IBT:
-Russia demands contact w/ the Aztecs. Yeah. Right. Like I would actually give them that. Sorry, Russia, but not in this lifetime.
-Egypt is building Sun Tzu's.
-Order restores in Dallas.

Turn 9 (670 AD):
zzz

IBT:
-Atlanta: Library->Knight
-SF: rax->pike

Turn 10 (680 AD):
:sleep:

IBT:
-Russians are building Sistine

Turn 11 (690 AD):
:coffee:

IBT:
-Buffalo: Walls->Harbor
-Baltimore: Pike->Walls

Turn 12 (700 AD):
-Science reduced to 30%, Gunpowder still in 3.

IBT:
-Philly: Pike->rax
-Chicago: Knight->Knight
-Seattle: Knight->Knight
-Miami: Knight->Knight
-Ivory Coast: Market->Walls

Turn 13 (710 AD):
zzz

IBT:
-Houston: rax->pike
-New Orleans: library->pike
-Denver: Walls->rax
-Cincinatti: Pike->walls
-Egypt is building Sistine.

Turn 14 (720 AD):
-Aztecs still don't have Republic, Monarchy, or any first-tier MA tech. Curious about their science level, I investigate one of their cities (Cempoala) for 18 gold. They're running 40% science. weird.
-I trade Chivalry to Egypt for Theology, 88 gold, 1gpt, and their WM. Also, I don't have to worry about them trading Chivalry to the Aztecs, as the Aztecs don't have Mono or Feudalism.

IBT:
-We get Gunpowder. Set research to Education. Back at 40%, it comes in 11.

Turn 15 (730 AD):
zzz

And that's it. I have one thing to say to the next player...

IT'S TIME TO DECLARE WAR ON THE AZTECS!!
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
:evil:

EDIT:Oopsie, forgot the save! Well, here it is:
Pequenino,_730_AD.SAV

Got It! Play sometime tomorrow if I can but I am pretty sure I can.

Goals:
Short:
Remove Monty from our main island.
Work on some culture in the bordering Eygpt towns to prevent future flips.

Medium:
Build up a nice little navy to crush Egypt Once and for all.
FP in Thebes looks nice.
B-Line to Cavs after Education or Not depending on VC.

Long:
What VC are we shooting for? With the Distance of the others it seems Miltary conquest might be a little trouble but doable. I thinking a SS.

I think SS will be cheating on that level .
conquest or domination is cool

Yeah, conquest or domination. If we aim for one of those, we can finish the game before the Modern Age. :D
