My Mom Keeps Taking Civ3!!!!

Omega, have you tried speaking to your mum that instead of hiding the cd, maybe you both could come to a compromise and decide on a particular spot where she'd keep the cd when you're done with playing?
Yup. Didn't work.
P.S. How teh heck did a thread about my mom taking my cd get to 3 pages?

2 hours a day is enough for anyone. Any more and you're almost certainly neglecting the other parts of your life.

Omega-

Just abide by her rules for a while. Grin and bear it. Then slowly, work your way back up into the 6-hour playing sessions, because sooner or later, she'll forget.

And yes, it is important to do other things than sit around playing on the comp all day. Do chores around the house, talk a walk, chill out with friends. Go out into the woods and build forts. As long as you do other things, I say playing 8+ hours is just fine.

I remember, whenever me and my buddies got together, we'd go out into the woods (this is like 12:00 Noon) and we'd each divide into little "tribes", and we'd bring toy swords or toy spears, and we'd basically hunt each other in the woods until either we were too tired, it was sundown, or the opposing fort was taken. *Sigh* Good times...

I just cant help but laugh my a$$ off at this, and im going to ask how did this get so long , insanity lolollololol

1. It is very difficult to find a girlfriend amoungst people who you can't stand being around for longer than a single class period.
2. I do. She forgets where the CD is.
3. See above answer.

re 1: I understand. What you may not realize is that there are also a lot of girls that can't stand being around everyone either. Eventually the smart girls realize that geeks make great boyfriends. The tough part is to find out where they hang out. If you see a girl hanging back in a corner hiding or keeping her head down then just say "hi" and smile (just to get her to notice you). A week or so later you can try and have a conversation and ask what she likes (TV and Books). If you like each other then maybe it can go somewhere. Don't be disappointed if it doesn't last real long. It is tough to find the 'right one' and you still have 70-300+ years to go in this life (as long as medical science keeps advancing like it has).

re 2 and 3: You might consider printing this thread and highlighting key statements, especially your own messages (and mine ;) ). Have her read this and then talk with her and ask her to trust you on this.

Guys, I'll tell you what's really sick. A few years ago I played PanzerGeneralII 26_HOURS_STRAIGHT!! Only got up a couple of times to take a pee and that was it. Felt kinda dizzy afterwards, too. lol

Bah, my school is filled with skaters and preps. There's a few nerds, but they're just so......dumb......(with everything not school related)
Besides, I'm not actually a geek. I'm more goth and sociopath than that. And do you realize how hard it is for sociapaths do get anything even resembling a social life?!?!?!?!!?!?!?? :crazyeye:

^^^^^ I've never had marathon sessions like that!!! 6 hours, on boring Friday/Saturday nights. However, I don't think your mom should hide it. She should trust you enough to let you play on your own. Sure, sometimes you may go over 2 hours slightly, but if you do chores and h/w first, then you can probably gain her trust. I used to play games a lot but I'm in 10th grade now and I have a lot of stuff to do, so It's hard. But I manage :). Just ask your mom to put some faith in you. I'm sure she'll listen. And if you have a well rounded schedule and life, then I see no problem with 2-3 hrs a day.

I'm with you there Omega. My school is all preps and goths (Note: I hate Goths with a passion (No offense to you, Omega. Just don't get the whole "I wanna be unique like all those other guys!)). Then again I'm an unsocial person and never really did understand teen dating. Seems a bit pointless to me...

As for 2 hours a day. Meh. As long as you are taking care of your body and not ONLY playing Civ there is no problem. I mean I play civ for like 4 hours on a school day sometimes. You just gotta make sure you are also keeping school work and excercise up as well. Exercise is most important to me (because I'm one of those insanely lucky people who don't need to study) since the Army tends to dislike chubby people :-(

I recommend no-cd for everything. You paid for the intellectual property, not the %#$ wrapper.

As for your mom, she means well. Just think of her as a civ twice as big as you and 10 techs ahead. You can't just attack, so use some diplomacy and you can get your way.

None taken. Actually, since I'm the only person even resembling a goth, I actually am the unique one!

I LOVE that saying: Just remember, you're UNIQUE. Just like everybody else.

It's already taken by The Last Conformist though. I had had a string of 3 days (nonstop) when everything I did was Cardcaptor Sakura related... Unless only games count. :p

Sounds like a no-cd patch would help out your situation. I don't think it would be illegal since you bought the game, but I don't think I can tell you where to get it on this board either...
