I would guess that the Siamese ability "Father governs children" would either give a happiness bonus in some way or maybe Siam would have extra bonuses when dealing with city states.

You would guess, but that wouldn't be very unique as Greece has bonuses with city states and India has a happiness bonus. It seems like it would have something to do with government, so maybe something to do with social policies? And I guess Barbary Corsairs are pretty straightforward; a bonus to pillaging/destroying naval improvements and ships; maybe a small bonus to naval bombardment just to make it more interesting. However, my obsession with this game needs to know exactly how these powers will work out so i can stop speculating :)

 Satisfying an obsession of speculating only leads to more speculating!!

I know this very well, as I am suffering the same symptoms. :crazyeye:

Thanks to Azazell for this info (and yay! I finally get to contribute!); found on his ciV gallery:

"Father Governs Children" - Food and Culture from friendly City-States increased by 50%
"Barbary Corsairs" - 50% chance of converting a Barbarian Naval unit to your side and earning 25 Gold
Wat - Replaces University - 3 Culture, +50% Science, allows two Scientist specialists

All three from Civilopedia shots, so I'm not sure I wrote up the Wat correctly.

Good lookin' out.

Kind of bummed the Ottomans are a wet Germany.

...You're a Wet Germany.

Seriously though, I want that to be a new expression. On topic, however, I've reserved a lot of commentary on the special abilities, and have defended the concept of balance or how good some might actually be as opposed to how we percieve them... but... damn. If these are the last 2 SAs... I honestly think Barbary Corsairs just sucks.

Cool. Looks like I was right when I figured Siam would get a bonus with City States. :P 50% extra food and culture from friendly city states sounds pretty good. I like being a culture maven so a small Siamese nation with lots of city state allies sounds like a viable strategy. ^^

As a Greek, I'm kinda Jealous of Siam... Granted a Greek federation would be easier to maintain, there's a great benefit in Siam's bonus.

Although, I guess we're not certain how hard it can be to maintain alliances with several city states, so perhaps Greece's ability not only makes it easier to maintain relations, but by extension allows them to gain more allies...

I'm please we have all the abilities now. :king:

Man, page 19 already. It's hard to keep up.
I predict wars between Siam and Greece if they start on the same continent.
The turkish ability looks like the weakest in the game, but that was to be expected. After all their unique units look really strong.

They have the same ability as Germans, but for units, not encampments. So they'll have early naval domination if they like, plus additional money. That could be useful for appropriate strategy.

It might be useful but it's very situational. Of course I don't know how common barbarian naval unit's are in Civ5, but in Civ4 they were quite rare compared to land units.

Well.. it was fun while it lasted.
Some things are too good to be true.
Thanks for the effort Azazell!

this gallery, it was a dream becoming true...
anyways, thanks, Azazell, and you can be rest assured, we sipped all info ;)

That sucks. Did Firaxis order them to be taken down?

Thanks for the great work anyway. We know a heck of a lot more about the game thanks to you. :D

Main thing is that Azazell doesnt get any trouble for his kindness. I'm sure thanks to his gallery many folks are now solid to buy the game and create their own galleries ;)

Sure, Firaxis, I hope Azazell won't suffer any negative consequences...

All he did was in favour of the game...

Firaxis has no reason to be angry with him. I'm quite sure the information he provided had no negative effect on sales, quite the contrary.

Sure, there were some things that were slightly disappointing (e.g. the lack of a proper future era was disappointing for me), but on the other hand we know for sure that civ5 still has a lot of interesting features and is absolutely worth buying.

Azazell also stopped a lot of stupid ideas swirling around here (e.g. there won't be air units or subamrines because we haven't seen them).

Firaxis changed a lot from BtS, but nevertheless Civ5 has a chance to be the better game, especially if we consider that expansions will surely come and add the complexity we freaks can never get enough of ;)

Azazell's gallery is the reason I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition on D2D 2 days ago (which is something I never do). These screenshots are the best advertisement I've seen for this game (along with some in-game videos, maybe).

Thanks a bunch, Azazell !
