My vision of BE Earth via MS Paint

It's MS Paint, guys. You KNOW you can alter coastlines in it. ;)
It's MS Paint, you can alter the future! Forget CBE when we already have Paint :D.

Based on what we know so far...

1) Realistic Vision

Spoiler :

- American Reclamation Corporation is USA + Canada. Why Canada? Because seriously Canada you can't just sit on Earth while Australia has its (almost) own faction
- Brasilia is, well, Brazil, as we don't know which countries did it conquer :p
- People's African Union includes all African countries (nice red communistic color)
- Slavic Federation includes all Slavic nations + few countries which look good inside these borders
- You may wonder why Franco - Iberia includes so many European countries?
Well, I have a theory that Franco - Iberia doesn't mean FRANCE + SPAIN but rather
'Neo Frankish Kingdom'.
Which extends beyond old kingdom's borders a bit but not too much. You have to admit this is cooler than random 'France + Spain confederation'. :D Also this solves another problem - France and Spain alone look woeful when compared with all other huge factions... Almost entire Western Europe makes more sense when facing for example united Eastern Asia :p
- Kavithan Protectorate, India is obvious country. Bangladesh IMHO has no future in case of sea levels rising so may as well be added :p
- Panasian Cooperative. Obviously China, we know it probably includes Korea and Japan, Vietnam is culturally close to China, we know that Daoming Sochua has Chinese - Cambodian origin. Thailand and Laos included, not sure about Burma.
- Austronesia, uh, I mean Polystralia. IMHO Indonesia is necessary here (it seems somewhere Indonesia was confirmed in this faction, wasn't it?) Philippines fit more here than anywhere else. Malaysia is Muslim and closer to Indonesia than to Indochina.

2) Extended Vision (2 more factions to fill the map :p )

Spoiler :

Middle East - The Crescent Company
Spanish America - Patria Grande Association

By the way, Estimated Population for Each BE Faction - data estimated for 2050 (and my 'realistic vision' borders :p )

American Reclamation Corporation ~450 millions

Brazil ~260 millions

People's African Republic ~2 billions o_o

Franco - Iberia ~370 millions

Slavic Federation ~250 millions

Kavithan Protectorate ~1,6 billions

Panasian Cooperative ~1,6 billions

Polystralia ~560 millions (because Indonesia and Philippines :p )

I feel here serious problem of Middle Eastern and Latin American absence :(

The Crescent Company ~800 millions

Patria Grande Association ~500 millions

--------------------------------------------------

You know what? I will create 'Beyond Earth' Civ5 geopolitical scenario once we will know details about factions :D
The troll face made my day. I really don't want Poland to share its borders with the Red Skulls, but that's what we'll probably get.

The Asian leader was working on The Inflection Point. Sounds ominous. What could that be?

I'm thinking the "Inflection point" is the point where instead of Accelerating technological and economic progress, Earth experiences Decelerating technological and economic progress
(hence Earth moves into a stagnant position until it is rescued* by one of its seeding operations)

*Either through interstellar resettlement or technological emancipation

So it seems that the ARC is extremely global, rich and resourceful, but it's not a political entity, even though it probably exerts an enormous influence in the USA and other nations all around the world. So the ARC ≠ USA, the later being alive, independent and well.

they still haven't explained paris being drier than the goddamn sahara desert

Well, they've only addressed half of the factions yet. And how much must the sea level rise in order to flood Paris?

30m for some of the outer banlieues, 60m for the entire shebang.

That's a lot, so maybe it'll be just fine, even after the Great Mistake.

Article mentions several states needing reclaiming which requires quite a high sea level to even be worth it

Even a sealevel rise of only a couple meters affects river systems far inland.
I can imagine the Mississippi River flooding parts in a fair number of states in the "mideastern" USA.

So, the Great Mistake supposedly happened 2 centuries before the Seeding Project commenced? Sounds a bit late.
It also sounds like the Seeding is a sort of global effort, like a United Nations program where power blocs participate in to their own benefit.

Sounds like the Great Mistake, next to elevated sealevels, comes with a severe climate change too. According to Samatar's description, he hails from the city of Hargeisa, Somalia. If its the same location as today, it must have changed alot since its streets are described as inundated, and poverty and violence is rampant.
Today, it looks like one of the better places to live in Somalia, with a fair semi-arid climate at over a kilometer above sealevel.

Better places in Somalia= still a lot of poverty and violence
As for inundated...they could be talking about somalia in general.

Read the article. It specifially says "the inundated streets of Hargeisa".

Rising from the poverty and violence of the inundated streets of Hargeisa, Samatar joined the African Union's resurgent military forces, eventually rising to the rank of Major.

Maybe Hargeisa was inundated with refugees...causing lots of poverty and violence

Yeah right.
But I have to give it to you, it can be a (weirdly phrased) possibility.
