Taking into account the complete lack of info on the factions, barring their territorial origin, at the time the poll started i would agree with you. But thats not the same as calling those people who voted nationalists. I for example like the current state of european culture and the political and social outlook of a united europe. So i voted for what i expected would come that the nearest.
But when Franco-Iberia will be a quasifeudalist monarchy and the PAU a multicultural, social libertarian state union, i'll be going for that when the game ships. Its just that we didn't have much information on the factions, just a month ago.

Yes, Krajzen, i agree that the panasian cooperative sounds like a real powerhouse. While i do like cooperative approaches in society, i still don't know how authoritarian the PAC would be. That is a huge issue for me, when trying to identify.

Not saying saying they're nationalists, more patriots. It's more like the feeling of supporting your own country in an Olympic sport like kayaking or walking. You'll say "Go Straya/Murica/Canadia/UK!!" even though you know nothing about the sport. It's your country out their on the field - and you want them to succeed.

With this poll it's like - "Oh America is in this? I'm from America! Let's vote for that!" or "I'm from Australia, so I guess Polystralia?/
I'm from Poland, so I guess Slavic Federation? I'm from England, so I guess well... hmmm... Franco-Iberia I guess?".

I mean... that's partly the reason I voted for Polystralia. Also because of the mystery surrounding it too.

Um... Don't know about that. Is there really so many people who pick factions according to their origin? I'll probably pick Franco-Iberia because I'm intrigued.

And this is why this poll doesn't IMHO make sense: it doesn't show results 'which faction design is the most interesting for you but which is the most intriguing given extremely limited info we have.

And coincidentally Franco - Iberia and Slavic Federation are the most popular :D

To be honest, this poll was originally created when we had very little information about any of the factions other than their names. So there wasn't much to go on other than what TP said above.

Now that we know more about 6 of the factions (and once we know more about the last 2), if we were to start a new poll explicitly asking which faction "was most intriguing," I'm sure the results would be a little different. Although it's entirely possible that people will still vote based on the faction's name regardless.

Brasilia;

Movement of people across the face of the earth traced back to the World Cup.

AND Olympics!

IMO none of the factions have interesting designs. I mean, "+science, +infrastructure, +production" may be stronger, more cohesive etc., but not more interesting than "+science, +energy, +culture". But it's interesting to know which faction people identify themselves with or deem intriguing, strong etc.

Wait, WHAT? Did I miss something?

Pan-Asian Cooperative, because that's where Singapore/Malaysia even? is gonna end up. Unless it ends at the Thai border. And I should've voted for Polystralia.

From what I've read, the southern end of the PAC should be around the Isthmus of Kra.

For me as an ethnic austrian Italian nationalism and patriotism are more like two sides of the same coin than clearly distinguishable phenomena. I'm just sensibilized that way. For example german sociologists 4 years ago have made a study showing that soccer fans watching their country play at world cup tested more aggressive against immigrants after the game, than before the game (what would immigrants even have to to with soccer?). Its the old ingroup outgroup mechanics, we humans are so preconditioned to follow. So in my eyes many developments in post-9/11 USS that would self identify as patriotic actually border on nationalistic very dangerously. Even more so, when you take into account that the US doesn't need ethnicity as a national identifier (which is a very good thing, Europe should try to emulate). So someone who "loves his country" could test as nationalist, even though he would see himself as merely a patriot.

Be wary, I'm not saying that every patriot must be a nationalist, or that evryone who enjoys watching the World Cup somehow turns into a nationalist, far from that. I just want to point out tha the two concepts are linked closer than we'd like and that the lines are often blurry between the two.

Where did you get that info? :0

I think in something 2K revealed. Their faction/leader descriptions article.
"From Mongolia to Bangkok" or something along that line. And since the Malaysian-Thai border runs somewhere near the Isthmus...

Wait, WHAT? Did I miss something?

You missed my awesome attention to detail. I guess the numbers should be 4 and 4, not 6 and 2.
